I am from Montreal and saw this show at the Spectrum i even see my self as a 24 year old great memories from one of my all time favourite bands , first saw them on the street montreal jazz fest
I was at this show. They were excellent and very personable. Befopre they show, while waiting for my friend out front of the theatre, Los Lobos just walked up to the front and hung out - standing right beside me.
This was a really great show. I did not attend but around the same time I saw them with the Blasters as the opening act., also at the Spectrum in Montréal. That one was different but also incredibly exciting.
I used to see them a lot back in this era. I had forgotten how it was not so much David Hidalgo (and his band), like it is now mostly. I love David and respect his singing and instrumental genius, but Cesar used to be the "driver of the rockin' bus" in this band back then and he was featured a lot more. They rocked HARD, and could jam too, as evidenced by Rosas' 300 Lbs toward the end of this show. Glad I got to catch many shows of theirs in the 80s.
Los Lobos played Montreal 5 or 6 times in the 1980s. I believe I saw all of them except for a stadium show where they opened for U2. Los Lobos were always and still are a great live band. The Spectrum was a wonderful club and I really miss it (though I moved out of Montreal in 1996). The club closed around 2008.
David Hidalgo is insanely talented. It's interesting that at this stage, Cesar did most of the singing and interacting. That soon changed when David and Louie began to dominate the songwriting.
Very nice guy, too. I was lucky to be able to chat with him for a few minutes when we left a headliner a little early and Lobos had been the opening act, and we passed him on the way out. I've been a fan since we moved to Phoenix in 1984 and Don't Worry Baby was being played on the radio. I was hooked. Probably seen them more than any other individual act. Funny, they look so young in this, like they were just kids when this was filmed!
@@johnmeggers5059 Hidalgo is 31 in this video. I love this video (besides the awesome music & talent) because he reminds me of his brother, who gave me my career break in southern cal industry (nothing musical) in '80. I'm in Tucson now and wish they would come here. But I'd go to Phoenix to see them!!!
Los Lobos...! a short story abt one of their albums.. was walking around the bus station "Tapo" in Mx City as I was abt to take a bus tu Veracruz then I came across a music shop, got in and saw that LP album by Los Lobos, "and a time to dance" put it aside, so I could get it on my way back... it was there awaiting after a week...! GREAT..!
Ahhhhh, ça fait du bien, what a great great band! I'm pretty sure I was at this show, I know I caught at least one epic Los Lobos show au Spectrum in the 80s. Anyone remember who the opening band was, was it Ray Condo?
...also, what a great venue Le Spectrum was, and what a crime it's no longer around! I caught countless great shows there: got to play a few opening spots too, Toots & the Maytals, Procul Harum, John Hiatt...
I wat at that Los Lobos show with Ray Condo opening ... and I remember two other local bands also opening who were fantastic (Could one have been Jerry Jerry and the Sons Of Rhythm) . I seem t remember that show going on till the wee hours of the morning ....
Los Lobos, the legends, the men. The Wolves of East L.A., but as they all will readily admit, they're just another band, a mere stepping stone to appreciate the potential of American music. These guys can't seem to do any wrong, with excellent stage presence, musicianship, and creativity abound shown in their Francisco Gonzalez-led Mexican wedding days to their roots rock breakthroughs to their experimental avant-garde Latin alt-rock collaborations with Mitchell Froom and Tchad Blake (including David and Louie's Latin Playboys side project) to their later years. These dudes can just pull off anything effortlessly.
Best band playing Americana Music. A five hour band. That's how far you drive to see them. David Hidalgo can play anything.
Dave could play Bach on a biscuit tin!
@@waukivorycopse2402 nice accolade... i concur!
I didn't realize how much backup vocals Conrad did in the old days!!!

they seem like real people, and are...lol that is why they are so bad-ass.

Los Lobos are amazing. I never tire of their music. I remember seeing them in clubs around Los Angeles and they were always very personable.

Los Lobos, man. From Mexican roots (Mariachi, Banda Norteña, Tejano), 100%, but doing also a good American Rock 'n Roll, Blues, Boogie, and so on :)!
Jesse Clifford Adams Have you been living under a rock for the past 35 years?
