Linda Perry has written and produced for…Gwen Stefani, Pink, Christina Aguilera, Courtney Love, Lisa Marie Presley, Cheap Trick, Alicia Keys, Celine Dion, ArianaGrande, Miley Cyrus, Pitbull, and Brain Carlisle… so yeah, she’s LEGENDARY!
It's not a (fun song). it's a god damn anthem! A socially conscience cry of desperation and hope.( Revolution). Rock n roll is the premier source of media that has the ( balls) to speak the truth to those that refuse to see. This why I love rock n roll.
Sometimes with reactors, and it just maybe that the first time hearing it’s hard to get it, though it never was for me, the meaning or the seriousness of the song goes right over their heads. One song that baffles me beyond belief, is the George Jones hit, “He Stopped Loving Her Today”. 98% of reactors, no kidding, don’t get what happened in the story of the song! It’s unbelievable to me. The first time that I, or probably anyone, heard it in 1980, we knew instantly what the song was about. I’ve seen so many reactors smiling, laughing, and happy that he was finally able to stop loving her and “go on with his life”. It’s crazy! 🙄
Singer is Linda Perry, who went on to write for others, like Pink, for instance, and produce others' records.
yes, also produced and/or wrote songs for Christina Aguilera, Courtney Love, Gwen Stefani and about 3 dozen others!
I believe she produced pinks album missundastood
I think only a slight correction with the addition of the other comments below. You indicated she went on but I believe she was writing for others well before she did her own performing career.
Linda Perry is an absolute genius
It was, and will always be, a kick ass tune (to me).
Miss those days
Linda Perry has written many hits. She knows how to write the song and then pair a to a singer. Few singers have turned down her offering, giving us all kinds of great songs.
My dad was totally inlove with the singer, I didn't have the heart to tell him she didn't swing that way, lol. But damn this song was so good and he also got that. He passed in 2002, but in the 90s him and I shared a lot of our music tastes. I showed him vids of my favourites and he usually got on board. Good times. Hugs from Sweden as per usual.
I still love this song
Me too and also love her voice!
Linda Perry is the GOAT. She's written some of the best songs of all time!
She used to be married to Sara Gilbert
No she's a goat, as in bleating loudly and annoying everyone
The song is a rip off of "Don't Worry Be Happy" just done slower with inane lyrics.
@@yournamehere6002Perry was writing songs long before Ferrin surfaced.
@@bellabunnell3174 The song DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY came out in the mid-80's, 4 Non Blondes in the early 90's. You have no idea what you're talking about. Oh, and you have no taste in music.
My go to happy song since the early 90’s!
She has written some of the best songs ever. And what a voice !!!
The Bside off this single was a song called TRAIN... it rocks too 🤘🏽😎
One of the coolest songs ever.
Love this song 🤩 thanks hope you would also like to see your reaction to their song Superfly !!!!! It's a chair dancing one ! 😂😂
Always loved this song! Only song by them that I know. Great song choice.
The whole album rocks. Still listen to it in one chunk to this day.
This song is officially a true classic! Love this song. Appreciations to you for sharing.
Dolly Parton recently covered this song for her rock album
She’s got one of those booming power voices.
it sure does get stuck in your head for decades. . . still blurt that out every now and then...very catchy back in the day
Catchy chorus and her voice caught me by surprise... was hooked the first time i heard it on MTV 🤘🏽😎
Me as well. Epic.
I have always loved this. ❤
I am a rock and blues nut, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Hendrix, SRV etc. but this has to rate as one of the very best songs ever written and performed. I love it.
When I think of this song, I think of how I felt about it (loved it) in the 90's, and I think about how artfully they used it in the Netflix show "Sense8", for that one episode. It was so good.
Love this song. Great band! Linda Perry is hugely talented. ☮️❤️😎
This is a feel good song, love it!
One of the top 100 songs ever made....surely
I'll tell you what you guys (reacters) are doing: you are teaching people how to listen to music. Thank you very much.
It’s not very well known but Linda Perry was a hero of the singer P!nk and as a teenager in Philadelphia pink had always wanted to sing with her. After she was dropped by LA Reed so he could take on Christina Aguilera as a client, pink looked up her Linda Perry and they worked together on an album where she broke down to her core and a whole new version of the singer pink came to life earning her her first Grammy!
Glad you enjoyed this song so much.
Major hit in the early 90's 🎉
That entire album is awesome!
❤This was an EPIC song at the time and is still on my playlist of course. Her voice is so dynamic and the entire band is great. This is one of the best songs to play for people who have never heard it before......no one is ready for that voice.
❤my adolescence in a song!
Wow I know this song but never really listened to the lyrics or knew the meaning of the song til this listen! Still Very relevant and I love the way she comes across as almost humorous and incredulous about the state of things! Super cool!
#1's .. telling! 🤩
Omg...take me back to being a teenager ❤❤❤
This whole album is great.
Great voice so powerful
This song was BIG on Mtv back in the day. Love her voice and the song.
🇬🇧 Love this song, and the remix that was done later. 🎼
Great song. I think youre really gonna like her voice.
There's also a techno version that this song
Love this song. ❤.
Will, great taste! Thank you.
If you go to Dolly Parton's UA-cam channel there's a cover of this song released earlier this year. Linda Perry (the singer/songwriter) is playing guitar & Dolly is singing (they're friends irl). The video is really good & has a few throwbacks to this original music video.
there is a club cut version of this that got huge play in dance clubs
I was 25yo when this came out, it really resonated with me
Back to the grungy days, Linda Perry is a great songwriter!
You nailed that reaction . . nice going!
My jam!
4 Non Blondes did a cover of Misty Mountain Hop that was on a LZ tribute album. While you might not think that they could pull it off, they did an excellent job IMO. It's well worth listening to, even if you don't want to react to it on here.
Linda Perry was the sht. I was in my twenties when they hit it big, band came out of nowhere, then disappeared, that entire CD is good though. Perry was destined for greater things though if you look her up. Other than the actual numbers you read off, yeah, the song was huge back then, it was also during the time when MTV was starting to transition from playing videos to reality TV, so that video got a lot of air time. This song still kicks ass thirty years later.
This was always my favorite song by them but Spoonman is also a great one you should check out. Linda Perry is the BEST of the best. Her career in songwriting is phenomenal.
Have always loved this song!
Love your reactions, SalvoG!!! ❤😊🎉
Morphine & Chocolate
This is one if those where you sway and bob your head feel good songs😊
Great song
Try concrete blonde Joey
4 Non Blondes: Misty Mountain Hop (Led Zepplin cover) ...is really good.
Odd request, The Breeders: Cannon Ball...is super catchy as well
They did want to name the song What's Going On, but either they or their record company didn't want it to be confused with a Marvin Gaye song!
Oh My!! Now it will be weeks before this song leaves my head again! I did love the comments about as much as the song. It was played to death in the '90's, so yes, everyone has googled it. It was one of those 1 and done songs. Not saying it wasn't great. And, for clarity - just my opinion.
If you like Linda Perry’s voice, you should check out Johnette Napolitano with Concrete Blonde. Lots of great songs from this band.
DJ Miko made a really great, faster dance remix of this song.😊
❤😊
You saw this singer Linda Perry in the Carpenters documentary you did a while back. She gave lot a of commentary about Karen
Sense8 memories!
Yes this song was a great hook for a great TV series!
@@Mark-qm7du yes!
This song is even more relevant today! Today it’s more like “WHAT THE HELL’S GOIN’ ON”! This world is majorly F-ED UP! 🤬
This is the official GenX anthem.
Like Diane Warren was one of the greatest songwriters in the 1980s/1990s, if you look at the list of the songs that Linda Perry has written in the 21st century, IMO, she has replaced Diane Warren as the one you want to hire if you want a certified not only Billboard Top 10 hit on the Hot 100 Chart, but a #1 song
You need to Google "Linda Perry songs".
Yeah dunno what it was about her but I remember thinking she was somewhat sexy. She would prob cringe at someone saying that but yeah she was unique
Probably #1 One hit wonder,4 Non blondes
would like to hear her normal tone and volume speaking wise
Turned on to this song at 64 years old...❤❤❤it!!
Love the voice, energy and song but what's going on with that crazy big leather top hat and goggles?
The 90's can hold their own against any other decade when it comes to music greatness for sure.
She worked with Christina Aguilera on her best song IMHO - Beautiful. Linda wrote the song and got Christina to stop oversinging and they produced one of the better songs in history.
you HAVE GOT TO listen to linda perry's Letter to God. if you're not ugly crying by the end of that song then you're a stone cold medusa.
I'm a contrarian with this song. From the moment I heard it, it was like nails on a chalkboard. I know I'm in the minority. So many love this song...I loath it. Ok, let me know how wrong I am...
I hated this song when it came out. We made fun of it But now i like it.
Know why it has almost 2 billion views? Because us Gen Xers have not been able to move one centimeter from this point in time. We were saying WTF pretty much constantly and never stopped.
This song annoys me.
Me too! I couldn't listen back then, and I still can't stand it.
Horrible song, awful lyrics
It's an ear-sore.
@@cmonman3639 Oh yes!
Awww, did she turn you down?
Don’t hate me, but I think this is the worst song ever recorded, edging out “Disco Duck”.
I become an absolute rock star when this song comes on! 🥹🤘💫🤩🎶🎹🎵🎼🎸🎷🎹🎤🪕🎻💯💜 5:07
