When you mentioned miracles some of your viewers have had it got me to thinking about my situation. Several years ago I was diagnosed with COPD. It was bad enough that they instantly put me in Hospice care. After a year with them they decided I no longer needed their assistance. Exactly 2 weeks after they let me go I ended up with pneumonia which put me in the ICU, where I remained for 2 weeks. They decided to move me to a regular room, I kept telling the nurse I couldn't breathe, to which she said I was just having an anxiety attack. Well after the third time of telling her I couldn't breathe I ended up coding and was put on life support for 3 months, with a trach. I ended up having to learn to walk and talk all over again. To this day I still am not sure why God spared me, maybe I'm not supposed to know. But I think I am a walking miracle. I still have to be on oxygen 24/7 and some days are worse than others but I'm doing a whole lot better. It gets hard to breathe when it get really hot so I stay indoors most of the time. Anyone from Georgia can tell you it can get pretty hot here. Sorry for the long message. I believe in the power of prayer and I'm thankful for each day I get.
Wow.. Alaska is really beautiful 🤩 Thank you for sharing your story.... I have followed you for a couple months and have enjoyed it.. thank you . God bless your family
I admire you, that you don't ever even flinch when driving in the snow, and no matter how much for the most part. Not me, seriously I just hate driving in it and try not to panic.
So fun to see the area that my son is serving in. To see where things are was fun so now when he says Walmart etc I can say hey I’ve seen that area…. Also the Panda Express he loves that place so fun….. He loves Eagle River and the many awesome families there. I appreciate all you guys do for him and his companion makes it a tad easier being away from family during the holidays. Thank you again for being wonderful!
This is a great tour of Eagle River and everywhere you look there is beauty!! I love the way those mail boxes look with mother nature piled high on top of them!! Glad to hear your health is good and super job to all on the Gingerbread houses!!
Thank you for the tour of my old home town. I grew up in ER between 1950 and 1978. It certainly has grown!!! That whole area that you call the business district (where Carr's is) used to be a huge potato field called Pipple's field. In the winter, we used to have dog sled races there.
When I lived up in Washington State, I worked at a Fred Meyer's for a Christmas season. I did a lot of shopping there, they were kinda pricey, but at the time I could afford it. My favorite thing to buy there were coffee mugs. I ended up collecting coffee mugs from there. They were Big, heavy, and had really nice design. I wish I still had them today! Thank you for taking us on this drive through Eagle River! The Gingerbread Houses we're fun too...yum!!! 🎄
@@ThisAlaskaLife they certainly did. I loved all the snow and mountain views. Also the gingerbread houses were very cute. We did a reindeer barn this year with the kids.
I glad you enjoy the snow I don't like snow anymore at my age I'm 72 and I fear of falling. I grew up in Michigan and we use to have a lot of snow yt when I moved to Kentucky we don't have alot none soon far except for some flurries bit it is suppose to have minus degree wind chills.
Thank you for the driving tour of where you live😊👍 The views are spectacular‼️What a treat😊 What a FUN family activity to end the day with👍😊‼️ Love the final pix with each of the kids and their completed houses👍😊‼️
I use to live in Eagle River to to the left at the big yellow rock. That rock has been there forever and been painted yellow many times. I love your tour and really miss Alaska.
As someone mentioned, there was a gas station at the comer where Walmart is. Also Gruening is not a long "u." It is silent with the long "e" carrying the first syllable.
I grew up in Eagle River. Love it! I used to work at the blockbuster video where the pet zoo now is. This is bringing back SO many memories! Thanks for the tour! I also used to attend that same church building! So crazy to see everything I grew up with.
We lived in Anchorage in 1980-1983, stationed at Elemendorf. Eagle River was just a wide spot in the road. We lived at 149 Burton St. in a 4 plex upstaires. During the winter we could see the Aurora Borealis out our dining room balcony windows every evening. Your videos bring back lots of memories. I remember running to get my son outside after seeing a Moose walking up the street! Across the bay of Anchorage was the huge Mountain, I think Point Mackensie. It was snow covered most of the year and we could see it from our window when the sun hit the side. It looked golden. It was so beautiful! Thank you for the drive thru video. It brings back memories.
I loved this video. I had wanted to go to Eagle River when my husband and I were in Alaska last year. I like that it isn’t so overcrowded. The views from the Walmart were amazing!
Lauren im from England and in my 67 years ive never seen anywhere so beautiful ,thankyou for sharing this video.I love to watch your channel of you and your gorgeous family xx
My Sister just moved back to Washington after living in eagle River for 45 years. Her daughter is a teacher in Eagle River. She teaches 5th grade. I visited Eagle River a few times. The mountains are beautiful from the valley. Thank you for the tour. I will have to forward it to my sister
Lauren I work in Interventional Radiology at a hospital here in Canada and this is the department to that decides when and IF a thyroid biopsy is even needed…please don’t stress out it is something that is often only monitored. I’m happy you are on the right path though and took those steps! If you have any questions that come up pls reach out ❤🇨🇦🥰
nice drive. I lived in the subdivision behind walmart before it was built. There was a gas station there at one time but it leaked and contaminated the soil. The people of the subdivision fought to not allow walmart to be built but we lost. long story. I just love Eagle River.
Thank you for the tour of Eagle River ❤ such a beautiful area. I love seeing all of the churches and appreciate that you shared all of the buildings regardless of denomination. Wishing you and your family the happiest and healthiest holidays and New Year 🎉
It was -13 here in Omaha Nebraska this morning, with the Wild Chill it felt like -40 , next week is suppose to be near 50 , can’t wait for the warm up!
We searched Eagle River to try to find Twin Peaks Treats. It was formally Rochelles Ice Cream. One of Vanessa's friends was fixing it up. Yall live in a beautiful place. Hello from Texas. #swervyfam
My Dr insisted I have some tests ran and I finally agreed and she wanted me to have a cat scan which I did but I wasn’t happy about doing that but she called me a few weeks ago and told me that my cat scan showed a mass in my Lung and it was more than likely lung cancer!!!!!!!! So I had it checked out and for sure it was lung cancer and I am so grateful that she insisted I have the cat scan bc if she hadn’t they wouldn’t of caught my cancer until much later so I am very grateful to her and for herl!!!!!!! Thank you, for the beautiful tour of Eagle River. The mountain views and scenery is so gorgeous and I enjoyed it Soo much. Can't believe the amount of snow. But glad you can get around. The pizza looks delicious and the decorating of the gingerbread house looked like so much fun. Glad you're keeping an eye on your health and that your doing well. 🎄💜⛄
I lived in southern MN for most of my life. I would have seasonal effective disorder which is depression from lack of sun. By spring time, I would crave sunshine on my skin. Some people use a special light to help with the effect. I would really suffer living inAlaska and the short bouts of daylight. Then I moved toFL and it was so nice to be out and about in the winter and have skin exposed to the sun rays. Merry Christmas to you all.
I have nodules on my thyroid. They did biopsies of them. Nothing shows different on bloodwork. I just get them checked once a year. They haven’t changed any over the years we have been watching them. They showed up on an mri I was having done for something else. I don’t have an enlarged neck. It is very important to have a dr that you regularly see. Your husband should have a physical also. I know it’s harder to get a man to see a dr when “ nothing is wrong”. But you don’t want to wait until something is wrong.
Thank you for such an extended road trip of your area! The views are spectacular…those mountains, oh, yeah… God does such beautiful work in nature! I’m so glad I found your channel months ago. Susan

Lauren, the tour was amazing and the mountains WOW. Thank you for sharing. I’ve never been big on the gingerbread houses but I think it is what you grew up knowing. I hope that you all stay safe and warm. I would not be happy with all that snow for sure ❤
It blows my mind that you don't have more subscribers. The quality of your videos is amazing. Your family is so interesting to watch. Thank you. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Cheers to a prosperous 2023.
It's gorgeous there, love the snow!! But snow on the roads makes me nervous, even from my couch!! We're getting some of the cold weather here in North Florida, too. We'll have 3 nights of 18, 19 and 20 degrees F. We typically don't have these low temps, so it can be a challenge for Floridian's. Also, we have heat pumps for our heat, and anything below 40 degrees means they don't really provide much heat, so you're cold. Plus our houses typically aren't well insulated since a lot were built in the 1950's. Your gingerbread houses were some of the best ones I've ever seen, so nice! Merry Christmas to you and your family, and Luna.🐱 🎄☃️

As a 30+ year resident of Eagle River I think you did a great job. We live behind Walmart in Eaglewood. Have a Merry Christmas!

Very nice video. I personally needed that. Lauren. Please don't take your health for granted 🙏.
Beautiful video of your town!
So much snow, stay safe and have a lovely xmas.
I couldn't agree more with you regarding our own health checks. Im a great believer in what I call an annual physical health check. I call it my MOT. In the UK we have to have an Annual MOT for our vehicles to check they are safe and I am sure you have to have the same check in the US. And yet sometimes we can neglect our own bodies and health just because they seem to be running ok, but maybe a touch of tiredness but no other symptoms. I learned a lesson the hard way. I was a trauma nurse in a very busy Emergency department working 12 hour shifts. I was feeling tired at times but no other symptoms and put it down to the job. I also hadn't registered with a general practitioner for over six years. By mishap or what turned out to be luck I was in Colorado on a skiing holiday and had a fall which landed me with a nasty wrist fracture and dislocation. Was taken to hospital and prior to treatment I had a series of bloods taken. .The blood results were shocking when they came back. My blood pressure was 220/110 and my thyroid function was nearly in my boots and remained that way until I got back to the UK. I immediately registered with a GP and but wasn't panicking because I was so asymptomatic, I didn't even have headaches despite my high BP. Repeat bloods and tests came back the same and was immediately prescribed medication for both plus my Vit D levels were extremely low. I cannot stress how important it is to be your own health advocate. Its not about being paranoid about ones health, but is highly recommended here in the UK and I would think in the US too, to have an annual physical health "MOT". Preventative medicine is an investment for your future physical and mental health. Hope this advice along with your own history gives someone a push to check themselves out. Make it a New Year resolution. In the meantime I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and here is to 2023.
Thanks for the tour! 😊

Thank you so much! Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
Merry Christmas to you and your family, and Luna.🐱
