These UA-cam car reviewers are too easily amused by fancy new bells and whistles. What vehicle has the newest tech and so forth, but they don't take into account how these latest tech things always have problems. They also praise these little things but put very little emphasis on reliability. Which should be the most important factor when reviewing a vehicle. I live in Uganda, and these Ford Everests just don't last long. They don't have the reliability of the Toyotas. You see one that's 5 years old, it's value has depreciated greatly. But the Toyota has only depreciated about 10 to 15 percent in 5 years. Third world countries are the true testing ground to determine a vehicles reliability, and you quickly see that nothing comes close to a Toyota. I wish these UA-cam car reviewers weren't so easily distracted by shiney new toys and gadgets and could focus on the vehicles reliability. Because purchasing a car is essentially an investment. And the reliability of a vehicle is going to determine its resale value and depreciation. Fancy little tech things will never add nothing to the value of the car in the long run, they are just more things to break and go wrong. It's just not a smart investment to buy a vehicle other than a Toyota, especially in this class of vehicle.
No brainer....Next gen Ford everest is the clear winner....awesome look, great technologies and ample space....and finally great price compared to prado....just waiting for one.
Hardly a “head to head” comparison. Merely a spec comparison that anyone could do on a web browser. How about a real tow test, take them head to head on Fraser Island or off-road in the mountains. They are designed after all to be comfortable in the bush, what’s the point in just testing them in the urban space? Yes your average Joe or Jane Blogs might rack up most of their kms in the city, but you comparing 2x vehicles without comparing their capability at all. Cool, Everest has a slightly larger boot, Prado feels like a boat on tarmac and both come with drink holders and mud flaps. That doesn’t tell us much does it…. Hardly a head to head guys…
@@danielburger1116 More than that, Prado’s ride quality is unmatched. At least in top spec Kakadu the air suspension makes it unbelievably smooth. There is negligible body roll compared to Platinum Everest.
I don't really trust the reliability of the Ford as I trust the Toyota. But truth be told the Ford looks better all round and it seems to be better at handling also than a Toyota. It's time Toyota ups the standards all round not only focus on reliability,Almost all Toyota's interior looks dull and very boring. When you buy your car you want it to be fancy the interior design must be up to latest standards.
I'd pick a tried and tested 4 x4 that's reliable over extra bells and whistles anyday. I know what I'd prefer to be driving around Australia in towing my van. Toyota v Ford is no compares when it comes to reliability.
To give the prado a fairer hearing, we should just wait for the new toyota prado platform set to be revealed sometime later in the year, this is because the everest is on its latest & newest platform, yet toyota has barely changed since 2015.
During Christmas break, travelled in my mate’s Kakadu from Sydney to Adelaide and returned to Melbourne with my brother in Law in his Everest Platinum which he acquired recently. (Reason was to check how the car is, as I am on the verge of buying a 7 Seater SUV, and was waiting for testing the Everest) Yes the tech in Ford is new but ride quality is incomparable. Prado beats Everest hands down. The Everest was rough and with too much body roll. Understandably so because it is a UTE based SUV whereas Prado ia not. Surprisingly all these reviewers who used to compare Everest with Pajeri Sport and Fortuner have conveniently forgotten their own reviews where Everest was touted as UTE based SUV. My advice to all the buyers is to somehow teat both cars for a longer distance and then make a decision. Cheers!!
Watching this video makes me happy that I bought a brand new 2.8L diesel Prado last year. Still has plenty of tech, but not too much. And luckily it only has lane departure warning it doesnt help keep you in then lane with is seriously dangerous as on tight country roads you sometimes have to cross lanes on corners because roads aren't wide enough to keep in your lane. Having the car automatically keep you in your lane can and is dangerous and will cause more accidents than prevent. For those that really want this feature in a car, you either need to wake up, be more alert and drive the car or quit driving it is that simple. Cars nowadays have way to many driver aids. I like to drive a car and be in full control of it not the car in control of me. The prado is a perfect balance having many safety features, but at the same time letting the driver remain in full control. Before long we will all just sit in a car while it drives up to our destination. When that day comes, it will be better to just use public transportation. I hope Toyota doesnt ruin the new Prado by adding to much useless tech that most people should not be relying on. Anyway we shall see what becomes of it this autumn when it is released here in 🗾.
I 100% concur with you, I hate the ford driving for me. Then you have to keep putting it off. Also their head lights are horrible, I have shined brights in people's eyes because of it taking to long, I know when to put the brights off, don't need a car to decide.
You can plug a hair straightener into the rear outlet, but if you do, you'll destroy the inverter. It's only rated to 100w. Enough for a laptop charger only. Hardly a selling point.
Toyota has been banking on their reputation for reliability while investing very little in R&D. Most new vehicles with long warranties are reliable too, and have better features and are more fun to drive. Most folks only keep their cars for 3-7 years before they replace them so saying the Toyota will still be in good shape in 20years is irrelevant. In almost every way the Everest is a better vehicle, more performance, more space and more features, and it's nearly 10k cheaper. It's hard to tell this years Prado from one ten years ago, and the interior is standard Japanese bland and boring. Toyota has even reduced their investment in performance models and engine tech, preferring to JV with Subaru and BMW to develop performance models. It's actually sad to see Toyota falling so far behind the competition. Prados are good vehicles for heavy off road use, but aside from that, they're old school and boring vehicles that don't do anything particularly well. In fact, there's been quite a lot of issues with Toyota Diesel engines in Asia so the reliability issues aren't really much of a selling point if you bother to do any research on it. I usually keep my vehicles about four to five years so I know which one of these I'd take and it isn't the Prado.
@@FranklyPrateek welcome to the 2020s... Everything is heading this way. I don't like it, but that's where it's headed anyway. Actual buttons are going the way of the dinosaurs. Unfortunately.
You forgot to mention the ventilation in the everests seats, saying “breathing” and heated seats doesn’t cut it. The prado was clearly biased apon in this review. Many features of the Everest were over sighted.
One of the main things that wasn't covered related to the Prado is it can only tow 3000kg. At least the Everest can tow 3500kg which is what you need if your towing a van around the place.
well people can say and review whatever they wish, at the end of the day Its all about reliability, and I certainly know what id be taking around the country. Toyota is by far the reliable choice. Mind you I've owned many brands and taken them through their paces.., yes, there's nicer trims out there, but that doesn't necessarily form a great built car. More extras more risk of issues and you don't want that, particularly when miles away from home.. You want comfort and technology, go European.. Anyway, just my view, nevertheless less, safe motoring for everyone :)
@@redwhite_040 I 100% agree with you, no second thought about it.. But let me say just this.. The return rate home from any destination travelled is far higher reliability wise than any other brand… and that’s said on a global scale.. And toyota knows this, so they’ll cut the costs where they can where reliability does not matter, and unfortunately its the trim and features that they skimp on..

At the end of the day, it all comes down to what one person wants.. you want the bling, then there’s a brand for that, you wanna conquer half the planet, then there’s another brand for that.. Unfortunately there’s no perfect car to cater the lot
Congratulations on your Everest platinum. I got a ranger sport knowing that I’d get more for my money with the Everest sport, I needed the Ute utility for how I live.
The biggest for me was that the Prado doesn't have wireless Carplay and you have to buy a wireless adapter for it. Look it seems like Ford have done great job in the design and options and pricing. But ultimately the biggest sticking point is that it is a Ford, and I am not dumb enough to buy a Ford (or a GMC vehicle for that matter). They have a lot of reputation to build back up with consumers before I will even consider one.
It is said that the Land Cruisers have a 25 year design life as opposed to the 15 year design life for ordinary cars. Which is why you still see 2002 Land Cruiser Prados still on the road with 300k-500k kms on them, and not very many Ford Territories. And why the 2nd hand value is so good on the Toyotas.
Why would I want to pay more for far less, Toyota just doesn’t seem to want to embrace innovation and technology and would rather play it safe, hence the the boring range of product available today…
Everest is lister under the mid sized SUV, right? It would be better if both of the drivers tried to use the two cars, enable for them to compare which is which.
Very poor test, why ...? Where are spec for approach/breakaway/departure angles, clearence, wading depth, reliability/durability , resale value and more. Both of them are offroaders, but no off road test, whats the point, they are nota racing cars to compare speed. In any case, Ford has done a great job, but LC is a Tank.
Ive test drove top range prado and surprised it had still quite old safety techs.. and interesting expensive.. so we bought palisade and found it has top notches of safety techs probably the most high techs and more comfy.. extremely satisfying..
You've compared 2 vehicles with different target markets. The Prado is built for long-term reliability and off-road ability at the expense of newer tech bells and whistles. It will hold its value for far longer and outlive the Palisade especially if taken off-road.
All this video does is makes me happy to have my 2015 V6 (207kw) Prado VX with KDSS and none of the pointless tech and gimmicks that the new Prados are encumbered with. I'll take the 30% extra fuel hit for 95 in exchange for cheaper fuel, overtaking power and refinement. The Ford look great but its Achilles heel will be the average Ford dealer service and questions over reliability.
Journalists didn’t comment on the handling of the Everest, why? Made false comment about origin of the Ford V6 starting in the 2011 Ford Territory, when in fact this Ford engine was used back in 2005 in the Landrover Discovery 3. It is an old engine not new. Why did the journalists advise wrong misleading information and fail to comment on handling?
Shane, The engine from the Disco 3 is a 2.7lt V6. It was upgraded in the 2009/10 Disco 4 and Range Rover sport which has the 3lt V6. The Everest motor is an updated version of that motor. It even has the same outputs.
Door pockets and cup holders ! I wanna know how long before the EGR system clogs the motor and at 50k kays she’s in the dealership getting bodgied up to get past warranty and then it’s all on you
@@sbGOM But Toyota does as compared to Ford dealerships. Jut look at how they treated their customers with the automatic gearboxes in their Focuses etc.
And here we are in December 2023 and car sales figures for November have Prado outselling Everest almost 3 to 1 and coming in at 5th most sold car. What does that tell you??
The Prado is old no doubt but still in terms of quality will bit the Everest. Ford like most of the American cars lacks the quality. As soon as getting into the car and touching the plastics and the seats you’ll notice it. I tested one and on the 3rd row there is absolutely no space underneath the 2nd row seats to put your feet in. Even my 10 year old daughter complained about not having space for feet. I am not sure how the test driver said it is not too bad.
Bc Toyota knows that maintaining the car well will make it last longer, basically any car with long service intervals are only designed to last 5-10 years
This video shows half comparison, only said about their tech and spec. No real ownership experience, why prado is a top seller.. as we saw few reports (current affairs) shows ford broke down under 5k off the dealership. And the resell value of a prado is way higher than anything else.
Toyota sticks to what works. Ford is using gimmicks, like a large screen, to catch buyers. I will take the Prado any day of the week. It just works and will work for years to come.
Really?? 10 yrs back automatic transmission was an option today manual transmission is not an option in most Toyota. So live in reality than a fan boy.
Yes and that’s the dead set fact of the whole thing. Ford throws inn that bling crap to lure in the blind people, which by the way has a limited life of durablility and reliability. Toyota stuff can be bland, but it works as intended . I’ll Take the prado or landcruiser any day head ache free
While Toyota will keep killing millions of people and began hijacking their cars and faulting them I would go with the everest it's safe atleast and technology loaded Would rather rebuild an engine than killing myself in an accident
This is the same motor that has been in the discovey 4 since 2011 so long before ford took the design and put it in the Ford Everest. Ford took this engine design years ago when landrover was owned by Ford at one point so in fact it it is actually a landrover engine

I drive a 2021 Kakadu and now In the red centre in a 2021 Everest Titanium after driving the Kakadu to SA. The Prado rides a bit firmer and corners better thanks to the KDSS. The 360 Camera works great not sure why the Everest we have doesn’t have it as it’s a must. The retuned engine with new turbo is more responsive than the Everest twin turbo. The Everest is noticeably more efficient at very high speeds even with ATs vs light duty ATs on the Prado and is equally quiet. When you close the door it’s just not the same perceived solidity as our Prado. There is marginally more leg room for rear passengers behind my seat in the Prado. I’ll take my Kakadu thanks.

Not if you consider its offroad capabilities, which unfortunately were not part of the review. The Prado is so much better offroad, thats what it's built for - It's legendary. If they would have tested the offroad capabilities the Prado would be clear winner.
Ford don’t need lane assist. Thats actually a massive selling point. Can’t stand it when the car is trying to veer you back and take over all the time. Most of the time it’s a false warning. Some cars you can’t even turn it off. So no it’s not a problem. Unless you suck at driving.

Lots of Prado haters here, lets talk again after driving your Everest for 12 years, park it next to mine and compare.

(Reason was to check how the car is, as I am on the verge of buying a 7 Seater SUV, and was waiting for testing the Everest)
Yes the tech in Ford is new but ride quality is incomparable.
Cheers!!
Thanks for real test results. Prado is by far the most comfortable to ride long distance. Ford just looked and feel plastic.
@@LubbeArt100% I purchased a Prado Kakadu after that. The Air Suspension makes it glide on roads. I don’t care for those fancy gadgets. 😅
Cars are to be driven not to drive you. Thank you for calling them out who needs features they don’t even use.
How about the fuse not the inverter you need to understand 12v
I think I like the design of Prado than Everest but for the technology, the clear winner is the Everest.
So true

You forgot to mention the ventilation in the everests seats, saying “breathing” and heated seats doesn’t cut it. The prado was clearly biased apon in this review. Many features of the Everest were over sighted.
In warmer climates seat ventilation is more important
Both had ventilated and heated seats?
One of the main things that wasn't covered related to the Prado is it can only tow 3000kg. At least the Everest can tow 3500kg which is what you need if your towing a van around the place.
? In Europe the prado can tow 3.5 tonne
Towing 3500kg in a 2500kg car is about as dumb as dumb can be.
Have you ever towed 3500kg in an Everest? Sure it looks good on paper but let’s see how you enjoy it.
well people can say and review whatever they wish, at the end of the day Its all about reliability, and I certainly know what id be taking around the country.
Why can't Toyota make a nice interior like Mazda or any European and still have the reliability.
And the sales numbers show what people really want no matter what car reviewers have to say
@@redwhite_040 I 100% agree with you, no second thought about it.. But let me say just this.. The return rate home from any destination travelled is far higher reliability wise than any other brand… and that’s said on a global scale.. Toyota should keep its 4.0 option alive.
Why the Prado is so popular is beyond me..... Trading on a name/perceived quality rather then reality

The Prado is slightly tighter at 11.6m against 11.8m for the Everest.

What’s the service intervals for the ford and Toyota? Why is the Toyota shorter service intervals, is there something wrong ?
Bc Toyota knows that maintaining the car well will make it last longer, basically any car with long service intervals are only designed to last 5-10 years
This video shows half comparison, only said about their tech and spec. No real ownership experience, why prado is a top seller.. as we saw few reports (current affairs) shows ford broke down under 5k off the dealership. And the resell value of a prado is way higher than anything else.
Toyota sticks to what works. Ford is using gimmicks, like a large screen, to catch buyers. I will take the Prado any day of the week. It just works and will work for years to come.
