I was just diagnosed with GD today and its so overwhelming and scary. But seeing this video gave me hope. You seem so chill about it. I have to check my sugar 4 times a day. Thank you for your video.
I've just been diagnosed too. Fucking he'll 4 times a day??? 😮😮😮 I've started being a good girl. Lol
I just got diagnosed today and I cried for the myriad of other things I have been diagnosed with. This definitely gave me some hope♥️
I’m 7 months and also have GD. idk what to eat because I’m vegetarian lol
I feel ya moms out there i came here because im finally starting a little routine its tough because i work long hours! But i have to check it 4 times and insulin 3 times a day i cried so much when they diagnosed me ! But we gotta stay healthy and strong for us and babies
This was very helpful yet overwhelming to put in a routine where I work 12 hours/day. You were very good at explaining your meals and guidelines. Thank you so much!
I feel so sorry for you mama.. Im recently diagnosed and waiting for my appt to see a dietician. I'm praying I wouldnt have to do this much but your video was very positive and i loved it.. thank you
nash hey! So usually you won’t be put on insulin so you will only have to check 4 times a day which is much easier. Honestly I really think getting it forced me to be a lot healthier and I lost the baby weight so fast! I was 10 pounds lighter after my pregnancy then when I started! So crazy. Also I picked up some good eating habits along the way :) good luck to you!
Just found out today I am too go back in 10days
Checking 4 times ,sticking 3 times ,then at night ,metiform twice a day .. very new we got this guys
It's really commendable that you are managing your blood sugar levels that good. I am on insulin too, but my fetal weight at 35 weeks sonogram was less than expected. I am required to eat more and simultaneously manage blood sugar! I am overwhelmed!
There are so many options dear, trust your dietician
Thank you for sharing this! I failed my 1 hour test and took the 3 hour today. I was doing research and honestly scaring myself. This seems like a lot but your attitude towards the situation is very inspiring and hopeful to me! Thank you! 🙂
Same! All the research just had me in more of a downward spiral. Coming to terms with it and trying to tell myself just a few more weeks
Thank you for sharing this.. it's been 3 days ago when my OB asked me to monitor my blood sugar 4 times a day and to see an Endocrinologist. I got reallh worried and stressed that I may have GDM. I pray for all the moms out there having to undergo this type of pregnancy complication. I feel you.
This video really makes my diagnosis feel manageable. Thank you so much for sharing 🥰
It's my first day of blood glucose monitoring, have to check it 4 times a day for 1 week . Don't have a meal plan yet but i quit eating rice and white bread or any kind of bread and sweets 3 days ago ... You're so brave , and thanks for sharing 😊 it's helpful 😊
You did such a great job! They have me testing my blood sugar an hour after every meal and I have to say if they had me testing it 2 hours after the way you did my reading would look perfect especially in the morning.
I am so sorry you had ro go through all that. I have GD as well I found out yesterday so I am doing all the research I can. Your video is the only one with what to eat in a day and I have to tell you how honored I am to learn so much. Thank you so much for your help. I am about to make a meal plan now that I know
Thank you so much!! So glad you found it helpful!
Thank you for this! I failed my 1 hour glucose, going in for my 3 hour tomorrow. I've been watching a ton of UA-cam videos to keep myself educated just in case!
nightowlri good luck on the 3 hour test! That’s awesome that you are educating yourself on it before hand :)
your sugar is fine after baby?
Same 😔
Very very helpful! Thank you for the video. Ugh I’m terrified of pricking myself 4-7 times daily.
You are so welcome! :)
I just want to say I am sorry you had to go through this
I got diagnosed again and I am bummed,I hate checking my sugars and my O.B has mentioned insulin which freaked me out.The things we do for our kids.Oh and you look beautiful pregnant.
83prettyblack thank you! I could never stick with a diet before but the baby kicked my butt into shape!
Just got diagnosed with gestational diabetes today. In Scotland we need to check blood 7 times a day then maybe less depending on what the diabetes clinic says
Thank you for this video! I did exactly like you said, jumped right to UA-cam!! Haha
I just got diagnosed and am so nervous but you gave me some ideas for foods I can eat as well as how often to test. I’m hoping I don’t need insulin... I’m already getting shots for progesterone. I’m sick of needles!! 😅
April Sprifke glad it helped you! I was so scared of the insulin shot at first. I wasn’t used to needles so I would jump around nervously to pep myself to do that shot haha
Mama Jo I believe it!! Turns out my fasting is elevated. 😢 they’re trying metformin first though.
@@aprilsprifke2607 hi your sugar is fine after delivery?
@@ukvlogs3612 yes
I go in for my GD test on Monday and I'm up at 1 am bc I'm freaking out about failing it. This video made me feel SO MUCH BETTER about getting a positive result. It's reassuring to know this is doable, no matter how many times you have to check it. Thank you thank you thank you! ❤️👍
You are welcome!!! You got this :) how did your test go?
Passed the 1 hr test! So I'm in the clear. I'm still very grateful to have seen your video bc it really did help me accept whatever the outcome would be and calm my nerves. ✌️💗
I’m scheduling mine for within the next few weeks. I’m about to be 24 weeks on Wednesday. Both my parents were diabetics so I’m a little worried. And I’m a very picky eater and am not a fan of veggies so I am worried about my results.
And there’s still not a lot of videos out there so I might join you and make one but I definitely appreciate your video because it’s definitely helping me
Deanna Lynn you definitely should!! I originally made this because I couldn’t find anything about it when I was going through this so the more the better
thank you for doing a well put video, describing and showing the monitor readings. Very helpful. I have to do 4 times a day testing from home and needed to get an idea of how it's done. I hope my journey for 2 weeks will be helpful and controlled. I'm so nervous 😢
I've just been diagnosed with gestational diabetes and I found this video so helpful! Thank you.
Christine Casillas I’m so glad! That’s why I made it :) You got this , feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
@@MamaJoandCo now ur diabetic is disappear or not after delivery?
so realistic thank u so much for posting one for ppl who werennot heartnuts before getting pregnant because i did not know where to begin.
Holy crap... I was diagnosed with postpartum preeclampsia after I delivered my baby, so I had to monitor my blood pressure 3x a day for 2 weeks after I came home from the hospital. And I thought that was rough...!! I can't believe you had to do all of this!
My goodness! Being pregnant is already uncomfortable. But having to chart so carefully and pricking yourself 7 times a day! But in the end it’s worth it when baby is healthy!!
Anika A yes it was tough but totally worth it!! I def don’t miss doing the shots 😬
This helped me a lot cause I have to us insolin for mine as well and I was really scared at first and you made it easier for me to settle my mind
Jasmine Rennhack Aw I’m so glad!! I was scared too.
My diet is a bit different with GD so far. We are at 30g for breakfast, and 50 for lunch and dinner. Started with this because it worked for me with my first pregnancy (had it then, too). But at my next appointment we may make adjustments depending on how my levels are. Good luck to you momma!
Also if your sugars are managed with diet, why are you still taking insulin too?
I guess a year after but im watching lol
I wish my dietician ask me to test like that 🤔 i wonder is everyone is different. im currently pregnant and I test:
1- when I wake up
2- one hour after breakfast
3- one hour after lunch
4- one hour after dinner 😔 so overwhelming so far im doing great but im over it 😞
Me too
I was originally testing the way you were but after they put me on insulin I had to do more testing. It is so overwhelming I was definitely so over it by the time I went into labor.
@@MamaJoandCo you sugar is fine after baby?
Thank you, my daughter as been diagnosed with gestational diabetes so I’m checking UA-cam very useful
Your video is so helpful! I’m kind of freaking out because I failed my one hour so I jumped on UA-cam to mentally prepare myself and educate myself in case of the 3 hour test goes bad.
Karr Np I’m so glad! I hope your three hour test goes well. You got this!
Thank you. I'm 31 weeks pregnant with it to. And you explained everything so well.👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
eshia'janell I’m so glad it was helpful for you! :)
Omg new to 31 weeks today!
@@anianaomicorner302 congrats hun.
This video was very helpful! Ty so much for posting!
Alexis G you’re welcome!!
Thank you very much for sharing. It's super helpful. I was diagnosed with GD about a month ago.
God bless you. You're managing so well
Very informative!! I’ve looked up videos about this and most are very numbers based and a lot of medical terms that are overwhelming.
Issella Morgan so glad! I remember when I first looked up videos on it I got very confused too :P
I found it very helpful!! Thank you for sharing 👍🏻
Ellie Luisana yay! So glad :)
Thank you for doing this! I just found out that I have GD and am thankful for your meal and snack examples. I haven't started treatment yet and am definitely worried about the blood tests as I am not good with needles or blood but I know I'll get used to it. I hope all is well with you and your baby!
I was sp so scared and you made me so motivated, god bless ❤
Thanks for the video! Been researching as I’m just beginning the gestational diabetes life. I’m glad to have found your video because I’m having to take insulin for my fasting blood sugar to regulate. You’re the first video I could find that I related most to!
hi tspur428.is your sugar is fine after baby?i have gd as well i am scared
Thanks for this...I failed my 1hr, threw up 30 mins into my 3hr and instead of repeating the test they’re just making me go to the diabetic counselor which sucks, because I’ve monitoring my sugars on my own and I believe I would have passed the 3hr.
Even if this is hard, your video gave me positive vibes and view of the situation. I hope I will do as good as you, I’ll receive my diet soon. Thank you!
Thank you! You got this!!
I just got diagnosed with GD.... Again. My first pregnancy was fine, second i had GD and gestational hypertension, and i failed my 3 hour glucose test on Friday. I have trouble controlling my early morning fasting numbers, so i feel like i can relate to you more than most that i have seen, and will most likely have to be medication controlled for the next 5 months. Thank you.
How is the salad 45 grms of carbs? My dietician said that a cup of raw veggies it's only 5 grms of carbs and pregnancy requires a minimum of 175 carbs per day.
Question were did you buy the simply protein bars at ????
Mama Jo First of all thanks for sharing such a valuable piece of information. I wanted to know, did your sugar level get back to normal after the delivery? if yes, how long did it take? Is your dietary routine still the same or got back to normal?
Your numbers are so good!
Hello sweetie I’m new in subscribing. Your video was very helpful. I am already a diabetic type 2. But I’m also pregnant I am 6 weeks and 3 days. And I also take insulin but I take 54 units Nph and 20 units lispro. In the morning. 28 lispro before dinner and 64 units NPH at bedtime
Oh man your so positive and chill for someone who has to do so much! Your awesome. I just got diagnosed at 12 weeks 😭 and have to do my blood test 4 times a day and can't go over 120. Just did my second one and was 128 😑 how do you stay positive. When I have 6 more months of this
Did the diabetes got controlled after delivery
I have gestational diabetes not very happy I'm 29 weeks pregnant not looking forward to getting my kit and having to prick my fingers 2 hours after every meal.
Are you able to share with us some of the main snacks that you were able to have throughout the day? And did the nutritionist say it's okay to have lunch meat? I was hearing its a no no but I saw you had the ham and turkey.
Thank you for showing your day-to-day. Just diagnosed with gestational diabetes and trying to figure a routine and meals to help me. Day 1 breakfast and lunch I tested just a little over 140 for my 1hr. So I just need to find a better balance.
Christy Ramos yes it’s a lot of trial and error! You will find your grove soon and figure out what works and what doesn’t. You got this !! :)
your sugar is fine after baby?
Thanks for this video! I haven’t been able to get my fasting numbers down and I definitely don’t want to check myself 7 times a day! 4 is enough 😭
Were you able to get your fasting numbers down??
your sugar is fine after baby?
Would you please share which Peanut butter you used?? Please and thank you! Your videos are so peaceful and make this transition look so easy. I was just diagnosed and I was sooo scared and overwhelmed. But THANK YOU for this video 🫶
Thank you for sharing this! I salute you mamma, this is hard work to keep you and baby safe, you are amazing 💜
I'm 27 weeks and I don't snack that mucj and still in risk for GD. I don't think I will be able to keep this discipline, I am cutting sugary foods, no more coke, no more icecream and a low carbs diet. I'm also trying to walk more. I'm praying I will get through this with my baby.
Hi Jo, Glad I found your video. You made it look like it's pretty easy to control blood sugar.I got diagnosed with GDM today, I was wondering if you were allowed to drink Milk like Anmum? Or do you just drink plenty of water. I just turned 28weeks and really hoping to get my blood sugar down. I would have to remove my rice, bread and extra stuff and eat just like you.
Thank u
Jenalyn Lepura hi! Honestly I’m not a big milk drinker to begin with but I know milk does have carbs so you just have to keep an eye on that. I mostly just drank water . It was hard for me to give up pasta! You got this!
This was a good video ...for those not working...how about the ones working where do they get the energy and calories from??
Very informative. Thank you for giving the max values along with yours. Fasting glucose below 60 will usually result in hypoglycemia symptoms. Have you had that occur in between meals or after a meal? Could symptoms of hypoglycemia occur at a level higher than 60 after a meal? For someone newly diagnosed with gestational diabetes who jumps right into a well controlled diet I would imagine there is an adjustment period.
Thanks for sharing! I have to get on a GD diet. Not looking forward to it since I already have to take blood thinner shots twice a day and now check my sugar 4x a day. But I love seeing what others are eating to give me ideas.
Lena Beana you’re welcome! I was so scared of the shots at first but I got used to it by the end. You got this!
Thank you .. please do more .. meal ideas
This was so helpful I'm going to be doing the same thing except I'm going to be testing four times a day and my numbers were high My fasting number in the morning when I wake up so they recommended I take insulin the same amount as you and they're going to be monitoring the baby and doing two week fetal scans until the baby comes but this was so helpful it helps me know what I should be eating and everything thank you so much!!!!
What type of insulin that you are using plz tell me ✨️
Here they asked us to test after one hour dinner :/ 2 hours is good!
Same here ! Confused!! 🥴
New subscriber. Love this video! Very helpful.
Sarah Relatable So glad!!! Thank you Sarah :)
Hi thanks for the tips just wanna know what time do u eat your bedtime snack usually??
detzky Eser I ate my bedtime snack around 9pm :)
Hi there. This video helped me boost my morale. I was so upset at the thought of having to prick myself. I’m having trouble bringing my fasting sugar to below 95. Right now it’s around 99-100. Will they also advise me insulin shots or just some tablets? I’m still figuring out what to do in terms of food and how to get that sugar reading down 😞
Is the 95 in the morning? If it’s not, 100-130 is where they want you to be at one hour after each meal. Fasting blood sugar which would be your morning number should be below 90.
Oh my gosh did you do this every day?!
This seems so annoying I forget to take my prenatals for days so imagine me trying to keep track of this schedule 😳
Monica Michel how irresponsible! Maybe you should give your baby up for adoption if you are not even capable of remembering to take a damn pill! 😳
BROTHER TN As a pregnant person, with the hormones affecting my brain it can be really easy to lose track of small activities. It can be really hard to think, especially since I have depression as well. Don’t judge until you’re in the other persons shoes. Also, prenatal vitamins are really for the most part just a placebo affect.
Rachel Novak I just had a baby on April 3rd and I too have depression but I made sure to take the vitamin every day but you’re right, I shouldn’t judge so let me give you girls a tip that worked for me... get a calendar and place it on your refrigerator and everyday you take the vitamin note it on the calendar, maybe put a little heart ❤️ or a check ✅ mark and that way it will be easier to keep track and you’ll never forget to take the vitamin. Good luck with your pregnancy!
BROTHER TN wow a little harsh for forgetting to take my prenatals sometimes. Lol both baby’s came out extremely healthy so chill out
BROTHER TN I’m not pregnant I had both my healthy babies a very long time ago. Forgetting once in awhile won’t hurt your baby. Vitamins are just an optional addition to your own good health. Eat well, exercise and go to your doctor appointments are really the most important factors of pregnancy.
I just found out I have GD and I feel like this video put me at ease in some way because it was very to the point but as detailed as I needed it to be if that makes sense lol. I've yet to go to the diet place and get my sugar levels checking thing...
HelloLife I was so confused at first too! That’s why I made this video to hopefully make it a little easier to understand :)
@@MamaJoandCo it helped me and many others in the comments. Thank you 😊
Thank you for this video this is my third baby 16 weeks and 5 days and I have gestational diabities again and have forgotten what worked for me 2 years ago 😭 so this video is very helpful
Jacinta Beck I’m so glad! Congrats on baby #3 :)
@@MamaJoandCo thank you so much 😍
Wow very inspirational thank u for sharing this. I'm not motivated.
Very informative and helpful video
Any new videos coming soon... loved the videos so far !!
Shenella Browne that’s sweet!! I plan to make more videos soon :) Let
Me know if there is anything you would like to see for future videos!
Is quite a lot of carbs they recommend. Just to end up taking insulin.
I hope I don’t have GD pls pray for me my results will be tomorrow
If your all numbers are below 120 after meals then why did you take insulin shots?
those are my numbers without insulin...if you weren't taking insulin and eating the same what would your numbers be?
I think it’s maximum 0,95 before meal and max 1,20 2h hours after.
Are they gonna let you stop injecting insulin after few weeks ?
i feel your pain ,im there atm
I hope you’re ok now , and diabetes is gone , I got gestational diabetes now 😢
My Nan has diabetes and I accidentally buy her chocolate related items every Christmas
I have been diagnosed again with gestational diabetes. This is my 2nd pregnancy and I'm having trouble getting my fasting number down in the morning. It's been a week and I've been changing my snacks and meals. 😞 I was told I might need to take insulin. I'm scared to take insulin because of the baby.
I totally understand the fear about insulin I was scared too. Definitely bring up your concern with your doctor. I was told it is perfectly safe . I was more scared about doing the shot but it wasn’t bad! Good luck 👍🏼
Hi i have GD also 7months preggy
I'm having the opposite problem... Got diagnosed with gd and in my testing, I'm usually in the 70s. Thankfully it's not higher than the recommendation but I dont feel great in that range. Really sluggish, irritable, achy. Attempting to bring up my numbers slightly... But feeling frustrated to feel badly following the protocol
If mother has GD or diabetic T2,what about the baby, does she also will be diabetic, how could mom cure her baby from this disease plz reply im worried :(
I have gd and I've been balling my eyes out bc I'm afraid to eat like anything. Can someone give me advice on how to manage it for when I wake up. I wake up shaky and palpitations
So you do the insulin after dinner? They told me to do it before dinner I'm 🤔 confused
I am so afraid of the blood finger sticks. Omg waiting for the next doctor appointment where they are gonna decide how should i proceed and give me this device that looks so so scary omg
CareForNature I was super scared too! the prick they gave me at the doctor hurt way more than the ones you will do on your own. The needles are much smaller. After a few times you will get used to doing it! Let me know how it goes !
I check 4 times a day am tired of it. Some times it is higher than 120 bcz I can’t eat some of the food they recommended bcz I have gastritis too. But thank you.
Why do you have to take insulin when your sugar is pretty much manageable ? Or is it that way coz you have insulin to help you out. Coz in my case, i was told to monitor my blod sugar for 3 straight days to which meal it usually spikes, but with my diet I have been able to keep my blood below 120.
Coffee Drinker my day sugars were always great. It was only my fasting morning sugar level that was high no matter what I ate the night before. That is why I took the insulin at night to control the morning sugar level :)
Mama Jo thank you so much for the response. Oh, yeah. You did mention that. I see. But pricking 7x a day. Wow. Anyways, your video has been very helpful. My numbers were manageble except when I eat out coz I they only have whitr rice. Lol. But I have concluded that I probably overdid my snacks that's why I failed my lab sugar test. ♡
Thank you for this, I'm 29 weeks and was just diagnosed a couple hours ago. Thank you for this video. I have to make appointment with dietician and Maternal Fetal Medicine tomorrow 😢. Do you start the 2hr timer at the beginning of your meal, or once you finish your meal? Also where did you buy the Simply Protein snack from? Thank you again
Jasmine Roper hey! I start the timer after my meal. As for the protein bars I got them buy 1 get 1 free at Publix (a Florida grocery store). Another protein bar I love is called power crunch! How did your dietician visit go? Did they give you similar parameters to mine?
Im 29 weeks and just diagnosed with gestational diabetes too 😭. Its going go be hard for me keeping up with the routine because of my work schedule.
Jessel P will you work all the way up until your delivery? It’s definitely annoying to stop what you are doing and check your sugar 🙄 you got this though!!
Mama Jo im planning to work until i reach 37 weesk. My problem is i worker 12 hrs for 3 days and barely get a change to eat thats also one thing why i think i got gestational because i starved and i overeat when i get a chance to eat.
Have you ever experienced +10 or +15 than the border in the blood sugar value in a day? Did the doctor suggest you to take insulin?
Chinthaluri Pratyusha yes I did have high blood sugar levels in the morning to matter what I did . That is when my doctor recommended the insulin.
i am not taking any kind of sugar or sweets....and insuline 3point insuline before breakfast and sugar level is approximately 160 to 175 ..and 3point insuline before lunch and sugar level after one hour is 170 to 180...dont know how it ll be control
I hated using the finger pricker every time i had to test my blood sugar. Someone mentioned there's something you can use for your arm. Anybody ever try this?
Did you do the blood sugar count 2 hrs after you start eating a meal or after you finished eating your meal?
But 8.6 is high? My target maximum after is 7.7.
Thank you for sharing
How can I keep to this routine while working full time?
By packing all of your meals and snacks.
So everything you eat in a day can it add up to your level sugar ... or it goes down after you done eating ? Also can we have snacks in between my sugar levels are too high
I was diagnosed with Diabetes 4 months ago. I was taking metformin for those 4 months. And I’m not taking it anymore because my doctor said it’s normal now. I found out I’m 6 weeks pregnant and they told me to check it 4 times a day just to make sure it’s still normal. I’ve been checking it for only 2 days. But today it has been really low. When I woke up this morning it was 81 2 hours after breakfast 74 2 hours after lunch 88 and 2 hours after dinner 100.. and for dinner I ate tacos and cake lol so I now 100 Is too low. Do you think that’s normal? Or too low?
Awwww m going thru d same thing now at 34 weeks ... My blood sugar is always hight after dinner 😪
Dhinesh Poornisha good luck!
You got this!
your sugar is fine after baby?
Yes it's normal now . He's 8 months now😃😃
