I thought when you reach decision height on an LPV approach that you're supposed to land visually, meaning the the autopilot has to be disengaged (as well as yaw damper for that matter)?
Hi and thanks for asking. I was hoping someone would mention this. You are correct! You would definitely disengage the AP (plus YD off) just before or at the DA and have the aircraft set up for a "Go Missed". I was really testing the aircraft behaviour or flight dynamics all the way down to touchdown. Many aircraft in Flight Simulator are unrealistic in their behaviour as they get close to the runway landing. I was initially going to show the video with disengaging the AP as you mention and I had practiced the landing with the AP disconnected at decision altitude. The feel and behaviour of the TBM930 is so realistic I said "this airplane will continue down to the runway smoothly with the AP still engaged". The AAU1 update is truly impressive in consideration of default aircraft. Some default aircraft are now in a league of their own! Blue skies!
@@TheFlightLevel I gave the CJ4 a spin last night in FS. It took a while to get use to some of the features they *removed* but the trip was quite nice :)
That was great! I've had a few harrowing landings in Nantucket with the TBM 930, but I always manage to get back home. Getting rich people back to the NYC area...
Really enjoyed that - thank you! Great work providing all the information overlays - I know how much extra effort it took, but I can assure you as someone looking for as much detail as possible it was really appreciated. Great content and subbed! 😊👍🏻
Thanks for your encouraging comment. Comments like yours certainly keep me going to continually add innovative and educational content. Blue skies and happy landings to you. Thanks for the sub! Working on a Spartan "Executive" release video at this time!
Hi Robert. The glide path tape was armed automatically when the airplane reached BARIN (the initial approach fix). As soon as the new leg was activated from BARIN to ERACE the glide path tape became visible. I did not hit or activate any switch. The APR was then turned on after I saw the glide path armed. Cheers!
Superb Video. Well done and helpful information overlays. Usually, I hate musical background for these types of videos because I am watching to learn specific procedures and flight details and I find it distracting and annoying. But, your use of the beautiful, yet very subdued music does not distract at all - it actually increases mental focus. Very well done.
Thank you very much! Yes, it is tough call sometimes to inject music. This one worked well. Just beginning a tutorial series for the FSReborn TL-3000. Please do consider a subscription as the channel pushes through 6K subscribers. Blue skies and enjoy your flight time!
Mark, thank you for watching and commenting! A good deal of editing in this one. I do hope people take away some good info for their future flights. Please do consider a subscription to the channel. Blue skies!
Hi and thanks for the visit and comment! The livery is in the flightsim.to library in the file called TBM930 livery megapack. The name of the livery is gunmetal grey. Happy flying!
Tried to do this one, but BARIN wasn't one of the available iafs. I had Gnatz, Hufff, Mayfr, Mooov, Muddo, And VECTORS, of course. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?
@@TheFlightLevel I was pretty careful. I went to skyvector and pulled the approach plate for the approach in the video (RNAVGPS RW01C LPV), and it’s different from the one in the video. I should also say that even using the current plate, the APR wouldn’t arm. I had to use VNAV even though the video seemed to say that wouldn’t be necessary.
Hi and thanks. The TBM930 is a default aircraft with the sim and the G3000 avionics is default with the aircraft avionics update 1 (AAU1). Hope this helps.
Thanks for watching and commenting! Continue to use the FMS and with time and practice you will arrive at a very comfortable level! Enjoy the ride "flight". Blue skies!
Didn't work, sorry, did everything as per video. It didn't arm GP automatically, I even put minimum altitude in, armed VNAV, APP wouldn't even arm manually, no descent, no landing, zilch.

Fabulous! Thanks for the visit! Can't beat that experience ... getting the rich and famous to their destination!
Fabulous landing! Thank you for creating this detailed tutorial on a gps precision approach. Well done Microsoft! ❤
Much appreciated. Yes, Microsoft has created an amazing flight simulator with top notch realism.

Beautiful, thanks for posting!
Much appreciated Martin. Flight Simulator offers some incredible realism. Incredible accurate aspects of this home simulator! Happy landings!
Pro level video and awesome learning opportunity, thanks for doing this
"Pro level video" .... compliments in the highest regard! Very glad the video helped you out! Thanks for watching and commenting!!
Great video! Could you please explain exactly how you armed the glide path at 6:55. Thanks.

Beautifully presented video 👍👍
Thanks. Very much appreciated! One of the best aircraft in the sim right now, regardless of payware or default. Blue skies!

Hi. Are you sure you followed the exact steps and in the same order as outlined in the video and installed the AAU1 update? Give it another go!

Where do you find all the keywords to program in? Are they VORs?
@@ThisLadWayne They are waypoints on navigation charts. Some may be VOR’s. Go to Simbrief.com to get started.
Alt > GP : i think..this not to work.
Alt > VS > GP : i like this
Alt > Vpath > VS > GP
Do you set the trim? ..AAU1 Tbm930 is strange..about trim.
Thanks for the visit! I do adjust the trims when achieving a desired airspeed and descent rate.
