- this song isn't mine. Hope youtube won't get this deleted. I don't have the right for this. I just want everybody enjoy this...^__^
Btw, here's the lyrics:
I am just another fool, and I have to, keep telling myself that
I am just a hypocrit, and I have to, keep calling you one
And I forgot to bite my tongue, and* my assumption, was* the mother of all mistakes
So I assume the role, open my mouth, and clumsy words escape
So why you, wanna to be there, when you could be here, you are slipping away
I awake with your replacement, a bottle in my grasp, in an unfamiliar place
Because you put me out, the butt of a sick joke, into this ashtray life
As you come and go, and* I forgot to service you, and we broke down
And you can't live with my mistakes, so* I assume false grace
Open my arms and grasp at something true
[chorus]
How are you, how have you been, girl I miss you, wanna see you again
So why you, wanna to be there, when you could be here, you are slipping away
I bring out the worst in you, and* you try and let me know
You bring out the worst in me, anxiety, anxiety
I'm trying to let you go, you say I'm giving you the creeps
So I assume the role, open my claws and grasp for your heart
[repeat chorus]
Into you like a mortal stake so vindictive
Your love's slipping away
Violins, into this ashtray life
Violins, the butt of your sick joke
Violins, I'm trying hard to let you go
Violins
I love Lagwagon and Violins is one of my favorite songs by them, but I also like a few songs from Yellowcard. I heard this cover and didn't actually knew it was by them, but I don't understand why everyone hates it so much. It's a pretty good cover done in their style. Mostly people bash on it because they want to be "punk" and not accept any other genres.
Could we all just shut the heck up and get along?
It's from a compilation album featuring cover songs from slightly older bands to stand together and show that people still have the same opinion on US politics like back then - so it should be a good thing they paid tribute to Lagwagon.
Also, Joey said in an interview that his acoustic version was inspired by the Yellowcard one, so where's your god now?
Love this cover
So, apparently, it's impossible to like both versions? I love Lagwagon, sure, but Yellowcard did a damn fine job with this cover.
They out their own spin to it using their style.
People complain about what many, many other artist do.
Yellow card didn’t insult Lagwagon.
I love both the original and this version.
i love this cover
I agree 100%.
This a good cover, its shame when people dont understand the diversity of music.
Yellowcard FTW
I love this so g so freakin much! Although I do like the original thus is still so awesome
the original is one of the greatest punk rock songs ever written but this is a damn good cover!
I only discovered Lagwagon after hearing that Yellowcard covered their song. It's great.
Covers aren't meant to sound exactly like the original. Yellowcard took the song and put in their own emphasis, I think it sounds pretty good, but then again I'm a yellowcard fan.
@homstar Sorry I totally zoned out there, Kids in America is by Kim wilde not the muffs, my bad.
I beg to differ, the original is good punk rock but this is actually quite good music.
this song is awesome how can ya say they wrecked it?
Anyone know wich year this was made?
The only thing saving this cover is that its a damn good song to start with.
yellowcard disappoints yet again. this song is so slow compared to lagwagon's version and it doesn't have any of the emotion of the original. its such a shame. :(
Yellowcard Wall of Death and now this!!!
@homstar True. Just like the fucking Jonas Brothers, remember the song that made them famous? It was kids of the future, which was a cover of Kids in America by The Muffs with the words switched up, I wondered for days why i liked that song, then I relized it wasn't their song. After that every time it came on the radio it pissed me off because no one knew who it was really by, and they treated those douchebags like gods for singing it.
I love both versions and both bands. Fuck yea!
Now that i have heard this, i like the original a lot more.... and it was already a well-liked song for me.
what album is this from??
This isn't as good as the original, but it's not too bad. Can people quit hating? They're both cool bands.
Im bummed that yellowcard's version is above lagwagons when you google it.
@laggers54
I'm a massive lagwagon fan too, and 90s skate punk and i think this is a good cover. Of course it's a cover , original version is better. But Yellowcard are decent.
Personnally I find the cover wayy better than the original....
So I assume false grace, open up my arms and
GRASP AT SOME-THING TRUE!
@FatWreckx7 this comment should have a gazillion tumbs up
This is a good cover lol they gave it their own style.
@MrBatManIsAPunk Because then everybody thinks that the "popular band" wrote the song, and the band that originally created it gets absolutely no credit or respect.
just annoys me
I love Yellowcard but this is very saddening. Violins is not a song that can be covered by anyone but Joey Cape and Lagwagon. And since it's their song, they can't cover it now can they?
SNIF SNIF SNIF
@Izard0fw0z what the fuck are you smoking this cover doesn't have that kick ass tone that Lagwagon lovingly puts in all of there songs.
Okay, everyone disses bands this days for being to teenage oreinted, then when some "popular" band does a cover of one of the best punk songs, everyone hates it.
Why?
The cover is missing something.. oh, i know it:
It's Joey Cape, Chris Flippin, Chris Rest, Joe Raposo, Dave Raun.
And sadly, Jesse Buglione.
its a cover man! i love lagwagon too! but its a cover! let it go! lol plus it was for a cause that fat mike himself asked for
Rock against bush!
i wonder how many of the guys who says this is better, really listen to lagwagon's ORIGINAL version, pop punks bands had some pretty dumb fans who are so fucking blind, like blink's fans think that travis it's the best drummer of all times and they're not gonna change their minds, so don't argue, they like this version, to us lagwagon's is so much better
PS: for those who are blink fans try to open your mind and listen to Derrick Plourde, he plays the lagwagon's original version
@izanagee I agreee
what a shame! lagwagon version is one of my fav song! what is this teen cover?
I know why they called this song violins
Because Yellowcard uses them
Yeah but he doers it with talent and heart.
dont like the band but this is an awesome lagwagon cover
this version is just different,it's not that bad...
joey often performs this kinda version with a acoustic guitar, so what...
Nice cover, yellowcard did awesome. However I support the original more.
@RyomaFV1 the same
jajajaja LOL
i think the same
Punk Rockers and emo kids,
People doin' things the church forbids.
the original is better, but this is a very good cover
I like that they didn't just do a pointless cover and played the song in their own style, but it's not really a good cover. The chorus breakdown is nice, but the rest is just very meh.
its not the same
God forbid that Joey Cape passes away i would hate see this abomination on his tribute album. They may as well dance on his grave.
Hi! How Are you? How have you been? Girl I Missed you! My favorite quote Sentence to a chick! ¯\(ツ)/¯
@Fatwreckman
I like both yellowcard and lagwagon, but lagwagons version is loud, out of the roof and freaking fast. Yellowcard just broke it down and even though I like almost all their songs, f*ck this sucks.
Eh, it's okay, but I like the Lagwagon one better. d;
This is WAYYYY better.
original is better but this isn't bad i guess
LAGWAGON RULZ
Omg discgrace..
I just found this version because I read some dick comment of the Lagwagon original. Trying to say this version is better....
I was like dude, it is gay, bland ad sounds like a boy band trying to do 'punk'..
in my opinion, the original one is muuuch better..
easier to listen to this version not going to lie
@izanagee Much better
the lagwagon original is 1000 times better

そんなナンバー
lagwagon's is better
*whispers* me too. this song is bizarrely like make for them.
I know Lagwagon fanboys and fangirls will disagree but this version is a total improvement of the original.
Nothing to do with fanboys or fangirls, it's to do with which actually sounds better, which in this case is the original.
totally not an improvement and not even coming from a fanboy
Not for nothing, if you do not think this is an improvement, you REALLY need to get a reality check
duude, how can u think lagwagons is better? this one is so much better in my opinion. we all have different taste i guess
sorry not cool^^
too much of a ballad nothing compare to lagwagons
I love yellowcard but this cover is terrible
Show some respect fellas!!
Stop being such a kids. Behave like grown adults, please.
I'm a BIG fan of both bands. Listening them for years and years now. Stop comparing and stop bitching!! Don't like it? FUCKING LEAVE!
But who just released one of the best damn albums of 2014 and possibly their career?
Dan Rice Both Yellowcard and Lagwagon released albums this year. Lift a Sail and Hang.
as a massive lagwagon fan and just 90s skate punk in general this cover is a disgrace and yellowcard are complete rubbish
The cover is better than the original. Although Lagwagon fucking rock!!
i like this band but they totally butchered this song. Lagwagon's is better.
Lmao
You are crazy
So I knew of Yellowcard from their shitty pop punk songs that sound like every other band's pop punk songs. But then I heard they covered Lagwagon and I was like "Could be fun, maybe they'll change my opinion of them." Unfortunately they did not. The only time they butchered a cover more than this, they covered No Use for a Name. Both with Chasing Rainbows and Already Won. Both by making two songs that have an acoustic version be extremely soft and sound similar to the soft versions. Well, on the plus side this version does have violins, otherwise there wouldn't be a soft version of this song that had anything to do with violins (Joey Cape's version is fucking awesome but it doesn't have even the word Violins).
If you're looking for good pop punk covers, stick to Simple Plan. The guys do an amazing job, which is surprising considering a lot of this genre is the same anymore. Well, maybe Man Overboard does decent covers. I don't know about that on yet.
Jesus dude. You write novels about every band you hate?
Novels are 100,000~120,000 words a piece. This is barely a review, the length of a review typically 1,200~2,500. So... No, I don't write novels on this.
Jalushun Man, am I ever glad opinions are subjective, because yours is total shit.
Simple Plan should stick to covers, because Pierre Bouvier can't write for shit
So your the punk rock music expert? Why ever comment, when all you did was criticize about this song and other songs also. Like go live your life man. We don't need more of that negative outlook on things.
Kill the song
