My family and I were very fortunate to be baptised in the stream that flows through our farm. It was just clearing after a flood and FREEZING cold, but truly a day I will never forget - for all the right reasons.
How wonderful. We've started going to a chapel and we heard that four members were baptised in the stream next to the chapel. I understand they had to pray for rain but it sounded a very special time like yours was.
Welby the man who thought he was bigger than God.the trouble is he as caused to the church, to split it self wide open, and go over to the dark side.with no way back for him.

I feel like this is a broader problem in the church than just soul survivor. Having had experience in different churches in the UK with various sad scandals and safeguarding...I believe massive overhaul is needed to make significant systemic changes. It is extremely complex to run a spiritual institution where safeguarding needs to be approached with an entirely practical lens. Bless you for speaking out on this.
Can't remember an investigation that had gone public and terms like "victims" are being heavily used, yet we aren't being told what the allegations are. Though we know, the Police have said there is no criminal case to answer. In the mean time Soul survivor's legacy is being destroyed.
His Grace the Archbishop needs to be careful not to make the Church of England a political organisation. Just like the Monarch is above party politics so should the C of E. That way it is relevant to many people of all parties who want to find God
Why would religions be encouraged at all? The majority of the UK (53% and growing annually) are atheist. It's a much more rational, evidential and definitely moral, stance.
I was reading my bible thinking of yourself and Rev Brett and was led to 2nd Peter chapter 2 seems so much like now and the issues you are both facing.
I get nervous when people in the church say "I was moved by the Holy Spirit' or something similar. I have heard it said by clergy and others just before they vote to approve things which go against Scripture, such as when they voted to change the canon on marriage in Canada to allow same sex marriage. So for me instead of meaning I was guided by God it mean I am going to do my own thing regardless of what Scripture, you or anyone else says because I believe in Me.
Why would any god think it's immoral for two people to be together in marriage and equal to all other marriages. If your god does this, it's an immoral god. Think it through. Don't just read old texts and follow them blindly, please.
Decades ago in my congregation we used to hire a hall and have barn dances, bring and buys etc. When attending services within the last few years Sole survivor was spoken about with regard to Christians attending this. It actually seems to be like a Christian Glastonbury and not something I'd have wanted to attend when I was younger although we did attend a concert and other forms of recreation when younger.
Have just been reading that a German Evangelical Church Conference has experimented with a service led by AI. Might be worth your commenting next time Rev Dan. Reactions range from those who found the 4 Avatars who led the service predictably lacking any spark of emotion to those who thought it was an interesting idea that could be perhaps followed up. The service was entirely designed by AI , the only additional information it was fed was to please include psalms. With the current upsets in the C of E and lack of clergy in many parishes I wonder what the implications of all this will be. Could this be the arrival of Avatar Vicars?😉
Churches taking on a Priest who does my fit with the Church happens frequently as the process is flawed. The selection is made by a few and not by the congregation as a whole. Lay Ministers are also prevented from asking questions or being on the selection committee.
You comment that you don't know how that particular vicar was offered the position - I've been told of a vicar who was appointed, and then told the congregation he was not going to continue with a Sunday Evensong. I don't know of any other jobs where, once appointed, you can say you will not do a part of it! 🤔
There are things that you can do and can't do, when it comes to worship they have a lot of say but my comment is about how they didn't understand that he was a high church vicar, that should have come up at some point!
Institutional Christianity seems in a bad way. Do you think that things are worse, or is it that with modern media it is more difficult for the Church to sweep things under the carpet and control the narrative?

I don't think Welby is politically one way or the other. He is for recognising everyone's humanity. That's what he speaks up for, both in the Anglican Communion and in Parliament. I've not heard him comment about politics outside of that.

Is it possible to excommunicate bishops and priests? Can Welby himself be replaced?
Welby will retire and then be replaced

AI systems have no soul and cannot receive the Holy Spirit of Truth - a serious limitation
