My 13 year old pup was having fevers and bouts of lethargy on and off. Bloodwork showed she had pretty bad liver problems. This was over a year ago, so the details escape me, but we did an ultrasound and more bloodwork only to find out they couldn’t pinpoint what was causing her liver problems. Basically they said nothing can be done, just live with it until she passes. After doing my own investigation I found out that copper in kibble can contribute to the type of liver numbers we were getting on her bloodwork. I asked my vet about this and she honestly told me that her diet didn’t matter. 🤯 I went on a mission to find a healthy dogfood without added copper and guess what, I couldn’t find one that didn’t have MULTIPLE sources of copper! So I thought, well, my sweet girl doesn’t have much longer with me, so I’m going to just start making her food and see if that helps. I did some research and she’s been on homemade food for over a year. She’s still with me today! No more weird fevers, no more lethargy, and no more anal gland issues, which were a constant thing for her. She’s now 14-1/2 and so far has no problems that the eye can see. I haven’t taken her back to the vet to have her rechecked because they’ll probably tell me to stop. She was not far from needing to be put to sleep, and now she’s a healthy elderly dog who loves life again.
What a great testimony! I'd encourage you to still do your yearly check ups though. Getting a copy of bloodwork is so important especially for older dogs!
Am so happy your dog is doing well now🥰 if you don’t mind me asking what are you cooking for her?? I what to start cooking for my dog I just don’t know how I just scared I don’t give him the right thing
Hello, we share the same problem with my 13-year-old. Is she still on medication? Do you mind if I ask what kind of home-cooked meals you give her? Mine eats 4x a day but in small quantities and protein very small portion. Mostly lean beef, chicken and white fish. Thank you so much
Hello doc judy, i have a 13yrs old toy poodle with hepatic encephalopathy he haven’t had a raw diet before. Its always home cooked balanced meal. Can i fed this to him but cooked? Everything boiled? Thanks
@@DrJudyMorgan Thank you so much, Dr. Judy. All of the videos you upload help us a lot. Even the doctors are surprised that my Chico is still doing very well despite his hepatic encephalopathy. He was diagnosed 2 years ago, but since I found out about your UA-cam channel, I’ve been following all of your liver care advice.
@@DrJudyMorgan Dogs do not ever get sick from raw meats? Ive heard contradicting things; that you HAVE to cook the ground beef because the ecoli and parasites in meat. Swine has to be cooked anyways and chicken I would never serve raw, but ground beef and other meat is OK? Would be a time saver, but a little skeptical I am. Thank you for the great work though; keep it up
I am very curious to know why my (approx.) 5-year- old rescue (Staffy/Lab cross) just got a new tiny "dot" (smaller than pencil size mark dot) under her eye. The closest thing I can describe this as a "skin tag" though it looks very different than my own skin tags near my eyes. Just one of them....She eats very well, sleeps very well, exercises and walks and has no other visible issues. She eats grass fed beef, sardines, one raw egg per meal, rotating (lightly steamed) Brussel Sprouts/Brocolli, kale and red beets. I add in highly blended eggs shells, bone broth and the RX dog vitamins and minerals. Also Hemp or ____ oil (1 TBLS) per meal. Afternoon snack of 1/4 apple and blueberries and pumpkin filled frozen beef bone Her only food issue is that her digestive system reacts in loose stool when I feel her beef liver (so I no longer rotate liver.) I am not able to find other organ meats in my area. She is right between the hot and cool category. (No panting at all, does not want to sleep under a blanket but sleeps with me on top of her sheet.)
Spinach, even in the off-season, is pretty easy to find here; in the winter, it is frozen, and in the late summer, it is sold at bargain prices for quick sale. Asparagus, not so easy to find in the off-season. Is there a winter alternative?
I have a 5 year old female boxer that is having trouble with pancreatic flair ups she’s been on kibble salmon and lamb can and now I’ve been cooking for her fresh fish and vegetables and she’s still having issues with acid reflux she’s on probiotic prebiotic enzymes and slippery elm I’m hoping in time the inflammation in her pancreas will go away ect. I’m not sure what else I should do . Anyone with feedback would be greatly appreciated ❤

Costco has asparagus almost year round. You can buy asparagus and freeze it for the months you need it.
After removing foods my dog was intolerent to, like beef and duck, his ALT levels decreased.
Hi how did you find outwhat your dog was intolerant too? I'm wondering because my dog has high ALT enzymes .thank you so much .
Beef has the highest levels of copper!
actually most of the copper in beef is in the liver
i never received the recipe i gave my email for
