- Today we convert the Gem Car to Gas! We install a 713cc V twin from Duromax and a custom swing arm. We have to convert it from front wheel drive to rear. We remove the front diff and modify the cv axles. This is going to be an absolute unit when its done.

The Gem is so cute & ecclectic looking. Way different than typical golf carts I've seen & serviced/repaired in S. Tx. I love the build RB. If I was 30 years younger, I'd be your intern. But I'm an old retired, handicapped feller & can't see to good neither. 😎 Peace!
those reverse boxes are pretty good for being a 30 series my stage 2 no governor 420 rides flawlessly now that i got my gearing sorted had to go up on the trans input the 9 tooth that was on it just caused chain slip and stretch. but with a 20 tooth on the input sure the speeds decreased but she pulls wheelies with the gearing change and no chain slip
I love this build....the vehicle is so quirky and weird, and now it's got the ol' Redbeard touch! I'm guessing it'll hit 55mph. I'm REALLY anxious to hear that exhaust....it's easy to make a small engine loud....but hard to make it quiet and still perform.
Yeah I'm really curious as well. Hopefully she is quiet.

@@RedBeardsGarage I think that’s fair. I’ve used a few of the newer models. They aren’t bad tools, just not super refined or downsized like Dewalt and Milwaukee.

There is such a tool as a cv axle separator. It looks like a 10 to 12" x 1" dia. punch with a concave angle cut out on one end. It is also probably 2" in dia on that end for extra surface area on the business end of the tool.

Yea, actually I would love to have a job working with you!!! I'm a hard working mechanic who loves to build custom tools and parts. I'm not the best fabricator just yet but that's things you can teach me as you like them done. Let's do this. Lol. But seriously.
Next time you cut aluminum with a band saw try putting cheap blue masking tape down where your going to cut... makes a difference in cutting...

What'd the cost to do this roughly
Love your videos and I'm following this build closely as I'm working toward converting my electric EZGO RXV to gas. I was looking at using the DuroMax 420, but given that I'll be utilizing the existing rear diff that currently only has a 3.3kW (4.4 hp) electric motor paired to to, would the 16 hp DuroMax be overkill? I want more power than stock, but not ridiculously overkill...
no it will be fine i like the 459cc from harbour freight in stock form its great and with a cheap properly jeted motorcycle carb it gooddder ;]

Those body and interior panels seem a bit flimsy. Top speed around 20-22.

Those electric golf carts look dumb with how bubbly they look. I'd feel like whatserface with the glass shoe if rode that thing.

I seen 2 of these for 500 each, one has doors and a truck box but they are 2 seaters I'd say they are in better shape we have no rust in az. Might just make one.
