You said one thing that describes me to a "T".... panic. Imma put a big note on my monitor that says, 'Xynode said, "don't panic", so don't !!' I cannot tell you how much this video is appreciated. I've watched literally dozens, but none of them were quite as helpful as this looks to be. Thank You!!!!
Late feedback, but yes, I do pledges with a Finnish guy quite often, and when we try like hardmodes/no death runs etc. in DLC dungeons, it's actually the difference between failure and success to hear his calming voice with broad Finnish accent: "Now just be calm... Put dots on the boss and ONLY look for the ghosts, nooothing else..." (Fang Lair, for example). I'm to stressful and close to panic all the time. ;-D
Did nMA last night to test it for the first time... was pretty easy except I got wiped by the mushrooms a few times because I knew nothing about the mechs... Decided to try vMA today with your vid as a guide and completed it first time with only 3-4 wipes... Great vid!!!
My first ever alt character created was Easy Sorc and his sole purpose back then was to clear vMA! He made it happen! Great guide, great builds, thank you!
Thanks so much for the time stamps on this. As someone still struggling with my first vMA clear (and does not have the mechanics committed to memory), this is so useful to remind me what/when/where/how.
Just finished my first veteran run. This guide helped immensely and I don't think I would have done it in one without, so, many thanks! And all of of that for a restoration staff...

For years, I've been trying the arena and only got to round two. So I was recommended this guide Now I'm on final stage. Thanks chap and wish me luck! :D
Noice!^^ Cleared my first Maelstrom with the Easy Sorc, got my Flawless on Easy Sorc; can do Solo Dungeons (even on Vet) with Easy Sorc and completed almost all of my first Vet Trails on Easy Sorc....This build is so good as an ALLrounder in this Game, for EVERYone, no matter what some people say! And it has the coolest looking glowy arms...just saying XD And an awesome Guide! Love that you are SHOWINg the mechanics and slow down the rounds and not just burn everything. This is very helpfulL!
Seems so much easier to work the mechanics when you do that much damage. You were clearing adds with a single heavy attack. It takes me 3 times as long to kill adds, exacerbating the whole situation. Stuck on the ice one by the way. And yes, its the bane of my existence.
@@RunnerDudeTyler I've been stuck on the final boss in the theater of despair for FOUR YEARS!!! I absolutely 1000% can NOT beat it. I have broken furniture, bruised my hands and legs, knocked over lamps and my TV, ripped my doorknob out of the door, and had a wellness check call on me by my neighbors because of all of the screaming I've done. I've tried following the guides, I've tried learning the mechanics, I've tried circling the crematorial guards, NONE of it has helped me.
Awesome Xynode. I love how you are making guides for all the content in the game. From dungeons to trials, I like how you make them for the new players as well! Most other guides are just “burn this boss” and that’s it.
This video has helped Maelstrom be so much easier than I expected to be. So many people told me my dps was just too low to complete veteran but just knowing how things work got me through almost every level so far! I love that you don't force meta sets down everyones throat and just want people to have fun and learn
This whole time I thought you had to avoid the green circles in stage 3 lol. I've only tried VMA for the first time on two characters recently. Beat it on both but I've still got a lot to learn.
You got me through VMA on my first ever attempt at maelstrom at all (went into veteran unknowlingly, didnt realize until arena 4 or 5 lol). Looked up this vid at the mushroom(plant :P) arena, and damn, it was hectic but i got through it! Literally just finished it. Thanks man, for all your content.
I know this is an old vid, but it was a lot of help. Especially at the final boss and dodging his projectiles. I got my first clear ever. It was far from easy. I wont lie though, people don't like hearing the words 'calm down, take your time' but this is exactly what got me through it.
Definitely the best tutorial I’ve seen for vMA compared to others. The attention to small details instead of rushing through is so helpful. Thank you for getting me my first clear!
Watched this before doing my first ever vMA just now, and then realized that melee Magplar has some serious power because I did it on my first try with only 2 deaths, both of which were me failing to avoid a knockdown and not being able to heal in the water on the ice arena. Great guide! Definitely glad I watched it first.
Thanks for making this video. Without knowing the mechanics I would not know what the heck was happening. This seems a lot of work and I appreciate the time you took out of your busy day to make. I think an additional part that has been difficult for me is attempting to learn the abbreviations and how it all work together. I am lucky that the majority of gamers out there are stand up, patient, understading, super nice and very intelligent. The help given to me has been nothing short of miraculous. You guys make it appear effortless. Again, a million thanks for all you do. Timothy J Bean PS- May the odds be ever in your favor😉
You made it look so easy. My first normal run, 2+ hour with reading guides, Vet 3+ hour with dozen of deaths and repairs and, swearing. Hope it get easier.
Cheers though, watched this when I got stuck at round 7 and it helped, somehow I didnt even wipe on the last round once xD so stoked, gonna keep doing it till I'm way better
For those struggling at the last stage with the Crematorial Guard as a melee character, rather than running away, simply walk around it when he flames will cause him to turn and miss all the flames. Just keep a watch out for other AOEs.
Thanks for the hardwork Xynode! Couldnt have cleared vMA without your help, love your clarity and tips, especially your dodge timings for the final boss in the last stage
Quick question regarding arena 8 you said by 4 rounds of destroying the crystals the boss starts to throw flame at you and chain you in, im currently on arena 8 with the final boss and by the 2nd round of destroying cystals shes starts to chain me in and throws them flames at me? Is it a glich or have they changed it?
It took me a sec to figure out what you meant when you said _"Check your charges."_ I haven't had to manually do that in years! I can't recommend the *WeaponCharger* addon highly enough! It'll automatically recharge your weapons, even mid fight. My sympathies to those trapped on Consoles...
Omg thank you so much, I am finally able to defeat vMA with the amazing godly sorc build you gave me and I got the perfected crushing wall lightning staff first time I did the dungeon on vet and now I can reconstruct it. Thank you so much 🥰

Great guide. You inspired me with how easily you walk through VMA. I am only CP 360 or so, but I have soloed most Normal 4 mans, so I thought I would give this a try. Clearly I am completely shithouse as I just got smashed even though I seemed to be avoiding the mechanics thanks to your guide. Oh well, I'll try again when I am better geared. Liked and subbed.
It’s my first time and I’ve been stuck on the final boss for an hour so I’ve decided to take a brake and watch this lol. Youre run on the final boss makes me look like shit 🤣
Unfortunately, I don't think this paints the full story. I am quite impressed at the simplicity of a heavy attack mag build in demystifying the chaos. If you just need to clear VMA, this seems like the Occam's Razor approach, which is excellent. However, I main a stamblade, and that appears to be on the opposite side of the spectrum when it comes to VMA. No health, no balanced range, no way of playing slow and steady with heavy attacks. No amount of knowing the mechanics and where things spawn is going to keep you from getting wrecked in 3-4 hits before you even get to an enemy. I'd like to see a VMA video with a stam build, and my personal preference would be to see stamblade.
In the ice level, I try to not attack the boss but then he eventually smashes 2 platforms. On the 3rd, there's always a bunch of adds that spawn in and while I'm trying to kill those the boss will smash the final platform and I invariably die in the cold water. I know I'm not doing as anywhere near the damage of your sorc but why am I always failing the level when I'm just following the suggestions of not attacking the boss, fighting only the adds, and kill the boss on the 3rd platform?
Hey, very cool video man! Just done VMA first time yesterday after 30 deaths on final boss. Shame i havent seen your video earlier, i was typical guy u described 🙂 Running in panic around like headless chicken killed again and again by our best friend Jeff 😄 Thumbs up, keep up great work man!
Is it just me or have the mechanics on the 7th round gotten worse? My first run through vMA was a week ago and i swear there were more adds during the final round and the boss did that flame explosion every round when you say he only does after the 4th round.
Huh. My stamblade with vet dungeon gear doesn't have a long range heavy attack that just zaps them dead in a couple seconds. I guess the key is raid gear and sorc.
I was stuck on arena 5 for a long time, because the icy water was always a little bit too much for me. Now I finally passed it and with this video the following arenas were pretty easy to do. All thats left now is the final boss, but his DoT during phase 2 just slowly kills me every time. I can only destroy two crystals at best...
As explained in the video, there is a damage over time aoe up there the whole time. You need to keep healing and if it gets too heavy, go down, kill the adds and come back up. The damage over time gets stronger the longer you are up there (per lap) if you go down stairs, the dot resets. Rinse repeat as many times as you need and don't panic :)
Used this guide for my first time in MA. Got through it super easy with only 1 stupid-death. and got the bow I needed. Super happy. :) Was surprised at how easy this was, my expectations were way too high. I out-healed the argonian boss's enrage and burst him down, the second time. First time, I got hit with 3 shrooms with no green pads and hit my food instead of my potion, haha. RIP.
Please tell me this is still some of the hardest content in game because I’ve spent about 20 hours on my first run and haven’t gotten through last boss. I’m cp 1600ish mag blade and obviously my problems aren’t level related. Nor is it a gear issue, I have non perfected but good gear, bahsei & Kinras/Medusa. It’s just pace and panic issues. This video was made 2 years ago. Do you have any brief updated insights on gear to make this a bit easier? In the video it looks like you are using a lightning staff to do heavy attacks? With all the lightning staff changes would you still use a lightning staff?
Just cleared mine for the first time today. Didnt realize how close I got to failing on the last boss. Did him first try though but killed him with a DoT whilst he was doing that wipe mechanic as I let three ghosts touch him. Most hated part is the poison flowers especially as they can literally spawn at your feet.
I was super hyped to try Veteran mode once again after watching this video, and I finally ended up beating the ice level... just for the game to glitch and not actually end. It was in an infinite loop then when i finally killed myself, it reset everything and I haven't been able to kill the boss since
@@Immediately_ Hey, so when you go to your group menu, the place where you have dungeon finder, endeavors, zone guide, etc. at the very top there is a "Dungeon Mode" option. By default, it's on Normal. Toggle that to veteran and you're all set. This affects any dungeon and arena that you walk or teleport to I believe.
Good summary. I finished veteran mode on my first try with the help of this guide. I recommend the Oakensoul ring for an all-around boost, a strong single-target damage ability, an anti-CC, and a cleanse, as there are many DoTs. Speed is also important to dodge abilities and get to the objectives. Recommended skills: charging maneuver, cleanse, shuffle, resolving vigor. However, I don't recommend that anyone play it. For me, this is hands-down the worst content in ESO. It's an irritating CC fest: you get stunned, pushed, slowed, pulled, knocked back or one-shot all the time. It's also very laggy-taking a bonus requires at least 5 clicks to work, and using the tab to target an enemy is inconsistent. Pets are a liability as they just stay in aoes and keep on getting killed, unless micromanaged. Some mechanics are the same as those in other bosses in the game, and the majority of the arenas are flat surfaces with no levels. The environments don't look good, and the polymorph should have been a costume instead, as the face is really ugly. I played it once and will never touch it again.
Im currently stuck on the final boss with my warden tank... pretty hardcore but hopefully after watching this a few times i understand it more... just gonna take 5x as long xD
In your video never perfoms a storm in the final stage of the table, in my case it always calls me with that storm ,and i cant find that ability in any video! help me....

It must be great to have a build that melts like that. Try struggling through it with a subpar low damage build. Still a lot of fun and your guide was top notch.
"Try doing it with a subpar low damage build" - I have. On live stream I have done it with 160 cp with random blue gear picked up off the ground. And recently with NO cps at all. Also if you check the channel I recently did it on a TANK :) 90% of maelstrom is memory and mechanics, it's not about massive deeps. Don't worry it just takes a little practice and also thank you for watching i hope it is helpful 😀
@@xynodegaming Oh I'm sure high skill and familiarization makes a big difference. You're much better at the game than I am no doubt. I didn't mean "you" personally, I meant "you" in general. A good build does go a long way though.
Hi Xynode, I have just managed to complete this on Normal as I had to get my dps up to standard, my next attempt will be on vet, my build is a pet build sorc, necropotence, Moondancer and Iceheart.
If you haven't done it yet, save all sigils and your ulti until the last crystal is whacked, then grab it all and blow him to pieces. Works very well on all my stamina builds at least. The fight is over in seconds once he's downstairs and after I've picked the sigils.
not bad...not bad...but what I would have done is ……. HAHAHAHA, I would have ran like a little girl screaming the whole time! Awesome mate.....im sure many folks will get both inspired and helped with this!! You done good. ;)
Okay, need help, I'm a tank necro, I cant get past the ice giant, I kill the trolls so slow they end up breaking ice pads, I'm stacked all into health, run bee keeper and plague doctor, is that too much health? Any help would be great
Why doesn't the synergy prompt always pop up while I know I have it? Can I still activare it anytime when I have the 3 ghosts and haven't used them yet? Is there a way to see which ad took the ghost? How much do they get buffed, is it all of them or just the one that grabbed it?

On the 3rd, there's always a bunch of adds that spawn in and while I'm trying to kill those the boss will smash the final platform and I invariably die in the cold water. I know I'm not doing as anywhere near the damage of your sorc but why am I always failing the level when I'm just following the suggestions of not attacking the boss, fighting only the adds, and kill the boss on the 3rd platform?
Hey, very cool video man! Just done VMA first time yesterday after 30 deaths on final boss. Shame i havent seen your video earlier, i was typical guy u described 🙂 Running in panic around like headless chicken killed again and again by our best friend Jeff 😄
Thumbs up, keep up great work man!
Was surprised at how easy this was, my expectations were way too high. I out-healed the argonian boss's enrage and burst him down, the second time.
First time, I got hit with 3 shrooms with no green pads and hit my food instead of my potion, haha. RIP.
Brilliant mate. Very nice explanation
Glad it helped
Did MA on normal and it was a joke. Tried it on Vet mode and the joke was on me. Didn't even make it past the second stage.
stuck on the poison argonian level myself but i have to agree with you on this one lol didnt expect veteran to be too literally veteran 😅
I just completed this with the off balance Templar. Just tweaked a bit with abilities and sets lol
It was in an infinite loop then when i finally killed myself, it reset everything and I haven't been able to kill the boss since
Sorry for the odd question, but how do you initiate veteran mode? Every time I go in it is automatically set at normal
Awesome!
ty ty !
I'm stuck here and today on playstation there is litterally 6 mushrooms and they spawn next to you. And sometimes just spawn randomly
So, relax 90% and mechanics 10%... Right, got it. Seriously though, this helped a lot, thank you
All I hear is “or you’re going to die” and I love it😂 can’t wait to get through this on veteran
good luck you got this!!!
Im currently stuck on the final boss with my warden tank... pretty hardcore but hopefully after watching this a few times i understand it more... just gonna take 5x as long xD
This guide combined with werewolf makes for the easiest runs ever! So tempted to try your easy sorc build though looks insane
In your video never perfoms a storm in the final stage of the table, in my case it always calls me with that storm ,and i cant find that ability in any video! help me....
I've been stuck on the final boss in the theater of despair for FOUR YEARS!!!
Did my first run ever on maelstrom, and did it veteran, whit magicka dk. Whitout this, no hope. Died like 50 times and used 40 ish tri-potion, 3 cups off coffee, 5 smokes and 3 h, might have not best idea to go veteran first time XD Thanks to you this was made possiple :) Thank you ^_^
ps: Used to love mushrooms, but after that one round, im good :3 And that dam Jeff :( they did group up whit aoe and boss and ghost like when i was so close to win it XD Anyway cheers, you are da mvp! :)
Also if you check the channel I recently did it on a TANK :)
90% of maelstrom is memory and mechanics, it's not about massive deeps.
Excellent video
Hi Xynode, I have just managed to complete this on Normal as I had to get my dps up to standard, my next attempt will be on vet, my build is a pet build sorc, necropotence, Moondancer and Iceheart.
Thank god for this guide man
Rip me, I tried to nuke the boss and ignored ads. Got wacked by all the ads.
Any help would be great
Got through vma last week. Frustrating but eventually you learn mechanics and it's not as bad
Why doesn't the synergy prompt always pop up while I know I have it? Can I still activare it anytime when I have the 3 ghosts and haven't used them yet?
Is there a way to see which ad took the ghost? How much do they get buffed, is it all of them or just the one that grabbed it?
