Great video...thank you. I think there is a procedural change at 4:08 (AE 2024?). From the menu... Layer-->Track Matte-->Matte with Layer Above-->Alpha Matte I think this step is now required because the drop-down shows ALL the layer names (without alpha/luma/invert options). The only alternative is to individually select each clip layer then apply its corresponding alpha layer (checking alpha/luma/invert toggles).
Small tip... you can actually do calculations directly in the property value. e.g, in "x position" simply type 1920/4 and you'll get 480. Then for the others, 480*2, 3, 4 etc.
They changed the track matte feature!!! I'm relatively new to after effects and I was following along great...until now. Now I'm deep in a rabbit hole.
in 2023 you need to set every layer to mask the one beneath it manually. very annoying, but logic in the new way they changed the masking. I did the turorial in 2022 and imported it to 2023. (there you can see the new mask-bindings and how it should be done from now on)...or just keep using 2022. Thats what I did in the end :)
Thank you for a great tut as always. I am also getting a "You are not allowed to download." message replacing the download button. It's happened before so I know it's no biggie to fix.
My biggest issue with these tutorials, is that they go super fast over very crucial elements. The track matte section is super important, yet it feels like Sonduck just want to race through this as quickly as possible. Very frustrating.
Many happies Mr Noel. Quick Q - is it possible to make this dynamic enough to allow for landscape and portrait imagery? I think I know the answer but… assume that all images have been preset to a uniform 16:9 height (1920x1080, 607.5x1080 for example). Thanks. Enjoy your day
Thank you! Yes, you can do any size for the images as you want. For example, you don't have to do any math. You can create the solids to be random sizes and place them anywhere you want. So it's all about how to layout the solids.

Thanks bro amazing tutorial
wow. thanks for the tutorial.. is there a way to fit the video or image to the width of solid layer without manually adjusting the scale?
Thank you for tutorial and file
Very cool! Why is it that when I log in and try to download the project file I get a message "You are not allowed to download." ?
Thank you 🐅
How do you swap out the pictures?

maybe I did something wrong but I do not have an alpha option at all in the trackmatte

I make these videos with pause and go back in mind. These are not lectures. Plus, I have to factor in UA-cam's algorithm with audience retention.
Enjoy this tutorial. I've tryed to download the project file, but I get the error "You are not allowed to download." I am subscribed. Can you help?
