    I have lived in Cambodia for 16 years and I always just call the long-handled vehicles "tractors" - they are multi-purpose and originally made for plowing fields, but are also used for transportation. The oppression is so bad that those Black folks from that island asked Ghana's president to speak up for them. I think Ghana allowed some of them to seek refuge in Ghana.

      I have seen lots of tourists to your country encountering a lot of unnecessary problems at the border. An Italian vlogger felt he was scammed out of a lot of money too. Something needs to be done about those border guards. Tourists like them would not bring drugs into the country so it makes no sense to mistreat tourists, visitors to your country that are bringing your country much needed revenue. Other countries are working hard to attract visitors to their countries as they know the money it brings into the country. These vloggers may not bring a lot of money but they are providing free advertisements for your country. It would be a big mistake for Cambodia to only focus on just Chinese tourists. Indian citizens who had all the necessary documentation but they were denied entry into Cambodia. I can tell you that word will get back to India and it will stop Indian visitors to Cambodia. And the history of India and Cambodia are linked with South Indians that traveled to Cambodia and brought Hinduism, and were even made kings of the various kingdoms in Cambodia.
      Please get word to the government of Cambodia. Their people do need capital to develop the country and offer jobs in the tourism sector.

      @@Dan-xx5jq I have noticed that, right now all the departments are trying hard to change the system by the system i mean those unethical government agency. After the election (June 2023), our prime minister will deploy new system, so those who are causing a bad name to our country will be remove and replace. Although right now, those who are mistreated should write a complain to general immigration department or tourists police of Cambodia (facebook page). They will resolve it but they must need evidences, name, badge number or an area of the department (try to record or take picture secretly). As many complains running through, the more quicker its get notice by our minister from each departments and it will be resolve quicker. For me, I also don't like those unprofessional employees who done these kind of things to our tourists. As a citizen of Cambodia all I can do is to explain and wait for the next election because from what I heard there will be a lot of things changing in my country. Furthermore, I hope and wish all the tourists who are traveling to Cambodia have a nice trip and enjoy our beloved country.

    I'm sorry for what you're going through but It seems to me that it's actually a requirement from Laos side. Usually, if you are flying by air, airlines will check if you meet the requirements required by the destination you're going to before letting you on the plane, immigration only need to stamp you out but since there is no one to check on that, immigration probably has to check some sort of pre arrival registration before letting you go so you wouldn't be refused entry by Laos. Once you crossed the no man land, it will be difficult if Laos refused your entry, and the immigration will be blamed for the lack of documentation. Trust me If they let you into Cambodia, that should be smooth sailing from there. Passport profiling usually happens at entry only, I have seen Nigerian, Yemeni, Somalian being questioned If they hold sufficient fund to cover their stay and refused entry. No country want to keep tourist in as they have no work or business in the country, same goes for immigration.

    So very sorry about your most unfortunate discrimatory experiences African Tigress!😢 The discrimination is very real. A large part of the problem is that they (various foriegn countries) are afraid that Africans won't leave and remain in the country illegally after their tourist visa expires. A male friend from Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 tried to visit the United States of America🇺🇸 on a tourist visa was flat out denied! He was SO hurt! He later stated that the interviewing agent at the embassy in Harare blatantly told him that because the economic were so dire for many in Zimbabwe that "statistically" it would be "unlikely that he would return to Zimbabwe"! Bulls... Clearly, they also discriminate against Africans! Meanwhile they (the US) allow thousands of Ukrainians, Afghans, Mexicans, etc. to come here! Very sadly many countries just don't like or care about Africans. Look at how China treated Africans worst than dirt when COVID-19 broke. A Zambian male student was kicked and stomped to death in China by a bunch of Chinese males for dating a Chinese girl student. I get furious about the hatred towards black people nd particularly against Africans. I am not sure of the solution to this global problem. Please be careful African Tigress and indeed I wish you a safe journey. By the way, when you eventually get to America let me know and I will be a VERY helpful subscriber and look out for you! Thank you kindly for this vlog.💫

  • @chemvuthsovin
    @chemvuthsovin Рік тому +5

    Not sure the title of discrimination gives the right justice but sometimes there’s more than just what you experienced, like the diplomatic relationship between your country and Cambodia, or past bad experiences made by some African tourists, etc. The language barrier can also misunderstand the situation as well. You should also understand that, not only the African but many of Asian countries do not have a strong passport that is very inconvenient when it comes to crossing the border. My own experience as a Cambodian for example of entering the United Kingdom, I got questioned like I was criminal but I didn’t see it as discrimination. Some people our people don’t come into this country that often and there’s some precautions or protocol must be taken by the immigration official. Did you experience any sort of discrimination during you whole trip in the country? Hope that one bad experience didn’t ruin the rest! Good luck and I hope that you will have a better trip for the rest ❤

I've been in Asia but never in Cambodia because since im scared to travel to that country. I've heard about kinda cruel attitude from Cambodian border officers towards african descents. African Tigress, I am so sorry that you encountered such difficulties exiting Cambodia and getting around in general in your travels where you have to use your passport. Unfortunately, the problem is mainly due to a few, evil, wicked, greedy Africans who do not care about the damage they do to their countries, their fellowmen, and to the continent in general, because the unfortunate thing is when your skin color is black, the entire black race pays the price for the evil of just one individual. The whole race is judged based on that one individual ‘s action. However, for all other races, it is that person that committed the crime who pays the price, not his country, not his race, not his continent. The main problem is caused by Nigerians who travel to Asia and deal in drug trafficking and scamming. Those countries are very serious when it comes to those crimes and in some Asian countries, if you are caught with drugs or dealing in drugs you get the death penalty. These countries establish treaties and checkpoints among themselves whereby they put controls in place at their borders and work together to catch and eradicate drug dealers. Nigeria and Ghana happen to be on their list that requires these additional screenings and security checks in order to move from one country to the other and unfortunately, due to ignorance and stereotypes, you happen to end up being a victim of this issue, only because of your skin color and your passport. Nigerians are the main culprits and are known to use fake Ghanaian passports and fake passports of other African countries thereby tarnishing the image and reputations of those countries and their people. So sad. The governments of all African countries need to address this issue before it gets worse.

    @AFRICAN TIGRESS Having a visa doesn't mean you can be automatically be allowed into the country. It all depends on the you satisfying the border immigration officers. The guy on the Cambodian side cannot make that decision which is why he wanted to you to go and get that first from the lao side because if Lao refuses you entry, they will have to treat you as being deported from lao which is more paperwork for them. So it is not discrimination in anyway.

    • @AFRICANTIGRESS

      I'll explain on the next episode. The Lao side immediately I presented my passport they gave me immigration entry form, then I told her I have been told I come here I haven't been stamped out yet, she sent me back to Cambodia side to get stamped out. Then when I got to CAMBODIA side they still didn't believe it so they told me to wait they call Laos side again

      if you look at some of the Indian travel vloggers....they were all denied entry into Cambodia. You are lucky they let you in. If we use your logic, than we can see they discriminate more against Indians.
      The Indian vloggers felt it was open discrimination against them, and were trying to reach the Indian embassy to file a complaint.
      They had traveled all the way almost hitchhiking to get there and they were turned away very rudely. I am sure you can look it up because it happened the later part of last year. You are very fortunate to get in, because they look for any excuse to deny entry.
      The Indians also felt like the border guards made the assumption that the Indians wanted to stay permanently in Cambodia. They were saying India is so much better than Cambodia why would they want to stay in Cambodia. They were furious and it looked like they were going to raise hell with the Indian embassy in Cambodia once they got back to India. I felt very sorry for them as they made their way all the way to the country by road and they checked before to make sure they had everything to enter, and then were very rudely told no. They were literally crying because the guards were so rude. And they couldn't understand why they were denied entry.
      Lots of people say the people are very cold in Cambodia too. I think they are still recovering from that war.

    • @Dan-xx5jq
      @Dan-xx5jq Рік тому +2

      @@AFRICANTIGRESS The point I wanted to make is the country of Cambodia is not ready to receive tourists, apart from Chinese. I know an Italian guy on motorcycle had a hard time at the border too. He was very angry when they let him in because he felt he was scammed a lot of money to enter the country. Those border posts operate independently and make up their own rules and I think they want to profit personally for themselves. It is very sad, because they should be encouraging tourists as they bring foreign exchange for the country. The country has a long way to go. To me I think of the terrible war they went through with millions of people killed in the most inhumane way, so I am not very eager to visit Cambodia.

    I've no doubt the discrimination is real, and I'm sorry to hear you had issues. That land border with Laos has a bit of a reputation, and not just with African travelers. But big part of them are committing online scaming, money laundering and drug, and the authority really have a very hard time to get them. You can look up some news related to above case.
