  • The window on the Trailmanor door has no curtain or shade unless the outside awning is deployed. When the sun is beating down on the right side of the camper, the heat coming through the door window and the black frame is very hot! We decided to make an insulated panel to cover the window on the inside. I used a piece of old Trailmanor window curtain and some Reflectix to make the panel.
We tested it this morning and the difference in heat load was very substantial. We are super pleased!
The fabric is glued to the Reflectix with 3M 90 Spray Adhesive (good stuff). OH... my last can of 3M-90 lasted me over 5 years with occasional use. We normally have a can in the camper box.
The edges of the assembly were sewed on my Singer Ultralock serger machine.
Amazon has the large can of the adhesive for about $13. The small can is $16 at Wallyworld. This is my Amazon Associates link to the product.

Great idea, project and execution. Good narration by Miss Kathy. Cool guy-sewing-skills.

Love the strap idea and the insulated panel. I viewed your video on changing the electrical outlet for the microwave. Simple but very effective. Thanks.

Great idea. We were in Orlando last month and I said to myself I’m going get some reflective insulation and put on the windows and vent before I come back to Florida. But I had no ideas for the door. Oh and I’m one of those that grabs the rubber strip to close the door.

Thanks! We had previously added reflectix to the side bed area windows. That also helped a lot as well. Pulling on the rubber strip will eventually cause it to pull loose and tear. We have used the straps on this and our previous TM. Good Luck!

That's pretty slick. The curtain material was a nice touch. The Butterfly likes the light coming in through the door window, but we aren't usually in the Southern latitudes or in the TM during the day. I was thinking of putting a curtain up similar to the rest of ours. I'll have to see if the boss is ready for it.

Matt, Thanks! I prefer the light as well...except when the sun is hammering the right side of the camper. It has already made a big difference sitting in the driveway. Thankfully the panel is easy to remove and can store under a cushion or mattress. Hope y'all are doing well! We will be back on the road mid Sept and will be rolling for 2-3 months. Maybe we'll catch up along the way. I sent you a FB Friend Request.
