I was a member of the Los Altos Conqueror Marching Band from 1969 to 1973 and participated in the first field show! I remember it poured down raining the night before our big event . A group of band members come down to the school early the next morning ( with shovels, rakes, and sand ), to try and get the field in shape for the evening's competition. Fellow band member Mark Cates and I ( then- Tina Wroe) walked over to St. John Vienney Catholic Church and asked Fr. O'Callahan if he wouldn't mind saying a "Please Don't Let the Rain Come Down" prayer for us. He did! And it didn't rain! Looks like the Los Altos HS Field Show has been blessed ever since!
I was in the drum section in '66 and section leader part of '67. Great experience. I reminisce often; a great time in my life. We placed 2nd in the Lake marching competition iin '67; a proud moment for all. And I just discovered Mr. Pfeifle had passed. He was quite an influence on me as a young teen. I miss him. Thanks for this video.
this is actually insane , being in marching band NOW and watching this is so cool and so mind altering at the same time, pretty good entertainment unit and amazing family :) i’m in high brass btw! doing winter percussion as well.
Ron Lachance- I don't know about Danny Elfman....but I do know that Nathan Wang ( famous for composing, arranging, and directing the music for a number of Jackie Chan movies, LA Opera composer, and composer many other film and TV projects ) was a 1974 Los Altos grad. He didn't march with the band, but he did play piano for the 1971-72 Los Altos Studio Jazz Band. Also, the founder for the Mariachi Divas ( multi- Grammy winners ) also graduated from Los Altos! Go Conquerors!
Cindy Shea is who you are referring to who won 2 Grammys. i played drums in jazz band, when she played trumpet. Sajjad Khan got a championship ring, in 1993 marching in Cadets of Bergen County for DCI. Check out the Drum Corp show, its AMAZING! ua-cam.com/video/L1Plo2czal8/v-deo.html
@dustinisward He didn't go to Los Altos Dustin. He lived in the Baldwin Hills which is in the Los Angeles area and he dropped out of high school to join "The Mystic Knights of Oingo Boingo" Which eventually became Oingo Boingo
I graduated in Los Altos in 1989 & was in the HS choir. I was wondering does anybody have a good/clean recording or sheet music, of the LAHS Conquistadores fight song? Sadly, there is no recordings and/or information on the net about Morrel Pfeifle or the history to the composition of this great & powerful song. (SEE NEXT POST FOR THE REMAINDER OF MESSAGE)
This composition is approximately 40 years old from what I understand. I am a long time musician and want to re-record the song professionaly in a recording studio, to honor Mr. Morrel Pfeifle. (SEE NEXT POST FOR REMAINDER OF MESSAGE)
@lindahowardberke How do you know this? Were you in band with him? I tried to google it but I could find anything tracing him back to Los Altos... Im just trying to prove its true so I can brag lol Thanks!
