This happened to us at a resort in TN. There was no escaping it bc once you checked in ( like paid for your rental) they made you go to a second desk to get your keys. This woman proceeded to hold our keys hostage as my children ( who were 7 and twin 2 year olds ) ran around and hysterically cried after being in the car for 5 hours. I literally had to get into a full blown argument with this woman until finally her boss came from the back and told her to just give us the keys. My google review vanished like three times but I kept reposting and now has like over 20.2k “likes “ hope I saved some people from the awful experience.
Awesome always copy and save those reviews then check once in awhile.. what resort?
Tell us the resort, please.

Was that a Wyndham resort? Because i had a similar experience in Florida
Please tell me! I'll try and find it, TN's my home state!
Was it in Gatlinburg? 💀

How to avoid all Las Vegas hustles in one step: don’t go to Las Vegas.
Yeah, that's what I thought.
Don't go to Casinos, Period.

Okay that same logic but Hawaii HAVE CRAZY SCAMMERS as well. You telling people not to go to Hawaii? Bro everywhere have scammers since you said it I'm not going anywhere ima live in fear at my house 😂😂😂
Or just ignore them?
I used to tell them "I'm leaving this evening" it worked every time
I was just there three weeks ago in the Venetian, I saw that exact desk, around from the Tao entrance. This video is hundred percent legit. When they try to talk to you, don't say no, just completely ignore them and keep walking. Say nothing, act like you can't hear. It feels rude but they understand it means you aren't getting suckered.
A lot of scams work on using cultural norms.
The New York way 😂
Why not say no? Just keep saying no over and over
@@streetsleeper4 their goal is to get you to talk to them. If you're saying no, then they've already got you talking to them, and they're winning, and you're encouraging them.
It's the same thing as when a guy is harassing a girl who doesn't want to talk to him. "What's your name? Where you going? Why are you alone?" If you respond at all, you're just giving in. Make them fail to get any response and you are winning.

We told them we were not interested. The guy got super rude with us. I wanted to lay him out right there in front of that desk. They're gonna piss off the wrong person at some point.
Rule #1: If someone's trying to sell you anything, they're probably lying.
Not true. I was a salesperson for many years for Fry's electronics and Le Creuset. Fry's had a shady commission system and they wanted us to be aggressive to push sales but I genuinely helped people get the best product for the individual even taking less commission at times. Le Creuset is the easiest sale because they have a great product. So not all salespeople are shady. I dealt with so many people that would treat me like scum when I was trying to help them. The people that were nice to me, I would save them a ton of money with coupons and better deals.
@@nugsnjugs9954 Thats true. I was a terrible salesperson in stores because I am terrible at lying. But I did software support for some really great products and it was easy to push those on people because they 100% worked.

I got pulled into a time share presentation at Disney world when I checked in. A free 7 night stay was offered just for going to it . When I told them I wasn’t going to buy a time share they would not take no for a answer it became so uncomfortable and weird that I said I was going to use the restroom and dipped out without getting my free 7 day stay. They were so aggressive and became very unpleasant using guilt trip tactics about just being there for the free stay . Unless you want a time share DO NOT AGREE TO THE PRESENTATION!!
I tell them straight up “do I look like I have money?”😂😂
Yup. My wife and I got sucked into one of these. We thought they worked for the hotel. The guy talked to us for about 8 minutes, offering us free tickets to a show. Thankfully, I figured out what was going on before it was too late. Something he said made me realize what was actually going on. Something about being shuttled to hear a presentation somewhere. And two words popped into my head. “Time-share.” I don’t know why I thought this. I work in the arts and don’t know anything about that business. But somehow I just knew, realized these people weren’t with the hotel, it was some sort of legal scam, and I hustled my very confused wife out of there. The guy’s face was very telling. Furious that he had come so close to snagging an unsuspecting couple, only to lose them last second. It was very disappointing the hotels would allow such sleazy businesses. But that’s Vegas, I guess.
Did the same, I mentioned why would I even consider a time share when the current trend is to get rid of time shares!
@@bobbyg9662 I love that response

Thing to note: if you’re somewhere far from home and a stranger walks up to you and starts talking, you’re under no obligation to respond to them.
I very often just don't respond to people lmao

I enjoy absolutely roasting losers like them. All you gotta do is tell them they qre being billed for their consultation, then ask for their ID so I can mail them an invoice.
It works for the homeless guys that stand a couple blocks from your house too!
The way to get out of most of those situations: tell them you (or your s/o), works for that hotel brand. Employees are not eligible for the timeshare programs in most hotel companies.
This same thing happened to my mom at disney world. We were basically cornered by a couple of people yelling about free food vouchers, so my mom being the frugal queen she is, was interested. Ultimately they had us take a shuttle to this resort and we did a classroom and walking presentation for a time share. They kept telling us we didnt have to make any commitments, just sit through the presentations. At the end my mom asked about the food vouchers and they acted like they werent gonna provide them as promised since she didnt wanna buy anything. Gave us the absolute worst stank attitude ever and they had to escakate to a manager once the guy told my mom ‘wow you got my coworkers clowning me back there cuz i thought you were gonna make a down payment and join our timeshare lady. Why would you waste my time and play with my money like that?’ Lmao she was ready to cuss him out but i talked her down.
General rule of thumb while vacationing, ANY stranger that approaches you, is either trying to rob you or scam you...

I did this on a university campus once. I wasn’t a student, and was only there on a school trip to scope out my options after senior graduation. Me and a friend got caught in between all the events for campus voting and some guy for the socialist party pulled us aside. He didn’t actually know we were still high school students and not actually eligible to vote for his cause. I tried to let him know but the dude never stopped talking so I figured I’d see how long it could go. He gave us pamphlets, lectured us about issues and after like twenty minutes he asked if we were considering them.
I almost felt bad telling him I was a minor from a different city, dude was deflated. But it made up for my lost time.
Say no to strangers.
That’s why parents told us. We going to the store just for eggs. Nothing else lol
My girlfriend's parents said they were going to give her a timeshare as her inheritance. I told her, "Your parents don't really like you do they?"
My parents got roped into the meeting and my mom immediately knew it was a scam but my dad was slow to recognize it so she let him ask all of his questions and they just assumed she was quiet until they were like "are you ready to sign?" And my mom just said that she was a new nurse that had no priority on vacation time as well as having to take care of her own parents so she didn't have time. They went through the different levels of sales reps, all offering cheaper and cheaper packages but she just kept saying, it's not the money, it's the time. Time is the one thing that can't be manipulated whilst money can always be negotiated. These companies are terrible and I hope people wise up before they sign.
Im saving that. "Money can be negotiated, time cant be."
Believe it or not some of these companies will actually GIVE you a free time share in hopes you use them again , but the catch is you MUST refuse their service multiple times as they’ll lower the price every time until they just hand you the voucher .
It doesn’t always work but just to keep in mind .
whenever i get stopped like this and it seems like a scam i like to ask a lot of questions too because i find scams like this interesting and like to know more info that way i can better spot scams in the future so your dad was probably doing just that and pretending he might sign

This is why we, as a family, always have a program figured out before we even get on the plane to travel on our vacation. If you're approached by strangers in high tourist places, proceed with caution because they are usually scammers or pickpocketers. Always research the places you travel to avoid these types of problems.
This happened to us in Turkey at a handmade carpet factory that the tour operater took us to see. The fatal mistake we made was to show even the vauge interest in how the carpets were made. This was viewed as an invitation to buy. They gave us tea and brought us into a room sat us down at a table and asked us questions as to what carpet we liked best. We didn't know if they were just being informative or expected us buy a €25,000 euro carpet we didn't want. They asked how much would we offer for it and I said not today thanks. They went bezerk and the manager came in and spoke perfect English saying not to be wasting his time. The culture is high pressure sale and agressive to the point of threatening. Myself and my now ex girlfriend got caught up in this. First time in Vegas walking through and we were approached . They basically told us if we hung out with their timeshare program we would get a few nights stay for free at the hotel . Us thinking we would come back sometime figured we would burn an afternoon with them and get the free couple night stay . Started off fairly normal . Then one of the other " guests " started chatting us up how great the timeshare was , and that he wanted to have dinner with us later to talk about it . We joked with them that we were just here for the free hotels stays and don't plan on buying anything . He got instantly frustrated . Asked us why the hell we would be there if we didn't plan on buying anything. The main worker then stopped talking to the other guests and was just starring at us . They used to do this in Greece, but they promised a bottle of wine or something else. I went along for the ride giving them every reason I was interested. We were at the airport and they promised to pay for a taxi to our hotel afterwards. They were super nice and treated us like royalty. We were given drinks and shown a presentation. Whole thing was about 2 hours. At the end they asked me to sign up there and then and I said no way, can't sign something like that without research. @@thischannelisdeleted It's a timeshare. You pay a chunk of money for the right to use an apartment for a week per year. It's all maintained for you. There are lots of variations on this theme. The problem is you get locked in for life paying management fees while being obliged to go to the same place every year or waste it. It's very difficult to sell your week. Fundamentally though it is terrible value. The con job is to show lots of facts and figures how much you will save on holidays in the future. The one I was shown said you could swap your week around and even go to different resorts, could save money on flight booking through them yadda yadda.
I love asking them actual questions as if they are a real help desk. More often than not they actually give a pretty decent answer 😂
In a frantic voice, ask where the restroom is, saying your toddler is having explosive diarrhea. I bet they'd leave you alone then.
Yup. A decade ago we did the timeshare thing. They bussed us off the strip to their "resort." After a short presentation and room showing. Once we decided not to buy in, they made us wait more than an hour, prompting us frequently to change our minds. We finally got our vouchers after we argued with a "financial advisor."
This year I had time to kill between shows so I decided to talk with one of them. I was in comfortable clothes and am heavier, but am in a financial situation now to make a timeshare work if I wanted. He kept asking personal questions, and I answered vaguely. He finally gave me a black stare. 😂😂

Absolutely a great video.
Trying flying to Cancun, or Cabo San Lucas in Mexico and making it to the airport exit without getting harassed by multiple people all “giving away free” tours, dinners, tickets for boat trips, etc. All you have to do is spend “an hour” at a presentation. The hour turns into 3 hrs., and as you try to leave, their offers for time shares or vacation memberships get sweeter and sweeter until most people think they are actually getting a great deal. You aren’t. Annual fees will keep rising and you will soon realize it’s a scam. Speaking from experience!

My family just went to one. Unironically, we actually went, got our cash and left
We did this and went to the presentation. We spent the entire 6 days trying to cash in the "free money" . The "money" was only good on a couple machines, the machines were either down and not working, or no one was around to put the points on our card. I spent the rest of the trip walking up to people they were talking to and telling them it was a scam and to just walk away. EVERY SINGLE ONE walked away immediately.
" I live here" is the Kryptonite for anyone who comes up to you
Rule of thumb is never talk to anyone in Vegas unless you initiate the conversation
But then they’d never talk to you….

I fell for this once in Vegas but I walked up to the desk because I thought it was an information desk. Before I knew it they started going on about a time share and left no window for me to speak. I don't know how long it took, but I eventually got away with just a brochure. Vegas is a dump really. I'd never go back.
Exactly! 🎉❤🎉
You are far too polite. If anyone ever comes up to you and starts talking to you unsolicited about something you don’t care about, you shut them off IMMEDIATELY. Tell them to get out of your face this instant. You don’t owe solicitors anything, ESPECIALLY not your time or manners.
Remember, these kinds of people just see you as a mark. They don’t respect you or your time whatsoever. They just want to profit off of you. You don’t owe them your attention or patience.
@@christopherwray4788 : This was years ago when I was a lot nicer. Now I don't put up with people's shit anymore. The world broke me
Vegas is a dump? Anyone that believes that isn’t being missed. Vegas is fucking awesome but everybody already knows that.
I went to a timeshare presentation once and I got a free dinner and trip to Vegas from it. I didnt buy anything but their closers are hardcore. One of the ladies got so close to me she was practically sitting on my lap demanding I tell her why I hated her and didn't want to get the timeshare lol.
Is this the meta
This. My sister and I got a free concert ticket and dinner, but man oh man, once you turn down the offer and say why, the pressure is on. It’s like: “What? You don’t wanna buy this place right off the bat? Don’t you know we have the best current deal right now!?”
Scamming the timeshare scammer is some elite social skill set...
Been there - got an almost free holiday but found out qhen we arrived they had a timeshare presentation. Sat through it - was honest with them that it wasn't a decent investment and we dont want to buy. They were upset they spent hours with us, but it was nice seeing the complex and having an almost free holiday.
Jesus H Christ. All these descriptions of people's experiences with the free dinner, etc. in return for sitting through a time share presentations, SERIOUSLY reminds me of the South Park episode where they did a parody of time share presentations. 😂😂😂
If you haven't watched it yet, please do. You won't regret it!
There must be people who scam the timeshare people. I know there’s flexibility in what they can give you.
We did this once years ago in Orlando. I think it’s important to this story that we were sincerely interested in buying. I think we gave off that vibe.
When we cut it off, half an hour later than they said, they offered dinner. We stayed another maybe forty minutes. Again, we’re leaving, say we’ll think about if. They give two more dinner vouchers for our kids.
We thank them and leave. The dinner was great. We did get the Universal passes they promised. They called the next day. Offering dinner at the hotel place. We had to decline, but my husband had a few questions and talked to the guy for 15 minutes. They called us again the next day. Then again when we got home. My husband asked about a specific property, which turned out to be a different timeshare company. They called again, offering to fly my husband and I to another location they owned, I think a long weekend. We passed.
My point is, we accidentally strung them along. We could have gotten more. I’m sure of it. I bet we could scam the hell out of these scammers. Play on their greed for the potential sale.
Love your content, very interesting and something different finally.
That’s what happened to me and my husband when we went to Vegas. They told us 90 minutes of our time plus we would get free buffet credit, casino credit and a free show of our choosing. It turned into 4 hours of high pressure sales and threats. We didn’t cave in and that irritated them even more. They told us we couldn’t leave til everyone was done and walked off. We did get our free gifts and made the best of our last night in Vegas.
And could try for false imprisonment and they would have thrown ya out with the gifts lol
My sister and BIL pushed through one to get free tickets to Disney World..
They were so desperate they let 2 straight guys with time to kill go through the presentation, and really believed we would go in on one together lol we took the money straight to the craps table
I kinda like toying with them. I know they only got so many salespeople working the pitch at a time and these salespeople can only keep you for so long as they watch their coworkers get the commissions that they're losing out on. I feed off of their desperation like a psychic vampire. After two hours of pretending to waffle on the decision to throw my money away at the Jockey Club, the sales manager practically threw me out himself.
@@businessraptor127 often they take you to another location far away with a “free shuttle” so it would be a pain or costly to leave on your own before everyone “wants to leave”. If someone did sign up for a timeshare that’s paperwork that needs to be done
As a real estate broker...I always tell ppl...no matter how good they sound...time shares are a scam. Just buy or rent
Yes, all scams... they should be illegal.
I have known people who really like them, but not only do they seem like scams, but not even worth the effort. I don't want to clean when I'm on vacation
They might as well be selling rat turds.
It’s just renting with a high overhead cost isn’t it
Rent these days are now unaffordable
I can't believe that people have such a hard time saying "no".
Thank you for letting people know what’s going on out there in Las Vegas but be careful
I was once held hostage on a bus with these people. They don't take no for an answer. I thought I was going to have to kick the bus window out to escape.
So was the cast of Southpark, except they were in Aspen.
I had a group take 20 or so of us, by “limo bus” to a place that was a solid five mile walk back to town. Las Vegas isn’t kind to pedestrians, weather is cruel. I asked to be taken back, they kept politely rebuffing me, “let us finish this, no more than five minutes”. I let it go another hour, I had returned to the bus, with about five other couples, all of us becoming impatient. “THIS IS NOW HOLDING ME AGAIST MY WILL”. That bus started and began driving us back in under two minutes.
People who don’t take no for answer, you tell them this…. “You will take my no for an answer, now stop harassing me.”
No please needed, you’re not begging. You’re telling. They will get the hint or find out the consequences for not. Be bold for yourself.
It’s also complete acceptable to act like a strange wild ass human being in order to divert people’s attention away from you. Appear unbearable to deal with. Be uncomfortable and uncooperative so that you may enjoy your planned visit/ vacation.
That’s how you take it from the music that’s playing 😂

This nearly happened to my mother. She likes to think she's " Too smart to have anything pulled on her. " - and I had to walk up, grab her by the wrist because she kept trying to engage with them and when she kept refusing I looked at the people and said " She looks like she has money, but she doesn't. Enough of this crap. Screw over somebody with disposable income. Couldn't even fly here because the flight prices were hiked so you're not getting anything out of us. Pick your targets better. " and suddenly the people had no interest in my mother and she was shocked. I proceeded to drag her short self off and was like " If they are guiding you to the desk and no locals are paying them mind, it's a scam. Even then, locals will get hired to 'hype the scam', so just... stay... away... if they're not actual staff. This is literally the city of scamming stupid people. "

I got this at one of Disney's "Good Neighbor" hotels. They were seated at the same desk as the hotel workers doing their jobs. I got pulled in with friendly banter thinking he was going to check me in and I soon found out it was a scam. I said out loud that I wish the hotel would warn people that this was the scammer section instead of me actually checking in I wasted my time thinking I was getting my room so I could finally go poop and relax from my long drive. I did one in Branson Mo. The dude called me a bunch of ugly names and told me to get out of his office. He refused to give me the $50 visa card that he lured me in with.
I didn't know it was a thing. But, being an old car salesman, I could tell something was off. I just wanted to check into my room. Having worked in sales, I just started to ask rediculous questions until they didn't want to deal with me anymore. Then, I was pointed to the actual sign in desk.
This happened to me.
I went and listened to their sales pitch, got my free food vouchers, and $150 Visa left. took 2 hours of my time and made the vacation better.
Best advice is that when you go abroad, unless someone comes up to you and they are on fire looking for water, you don't converse with them. As long as you are fine, in no need of help or assistance, then you walk away politely, that is till they get persistent and you then tell them to F off away from you.
My husband got roped into this while we were in Hawaii. He went down to the lobby to get me a coffee at a local shop and they “snatched” him. My mother taught me the ART of effectively bitching your way out of almost anything so we got out of the BS they tried to sell us.
Moral of the story, always say you need to speak to a spouse first. Always.
I would say to your husband, "Check your parachute buddy, you may want to bail out on this one... she has no respect for you or your judgement!"
I'm not just being mean, but you truly need to give mutual respect.
Perhaps he saw in it what we saw, and received: a chance to go to many destinations and stay in beautiful facilities that would be beyond reason for anything even Nearly comparable, and have the flexibility for including family or not.
However, you need to have Four Things:
1) The Right Company- (See my comment of Friday, May 5, 2023.) on the main page
2) A "Point System". With points, we have the ability to use Either days or weeks at a stay- We can go for a few days or for the number of weeks that we buy into.
3) You MUST learn their system!
Such as, how to find locations that offer stays for fewer points- For example during less-than-peak season, and for other reasons. You can turn 3 or 4 weeks into a month of stays and much more also.
[Also know how to use RCI- The associated company to which you can deposit any unused time so you can use the time in the RCI System which has time-share locations all around the world from different time-share companies, and more.]
The more you know, the more you get, if you know how to use their systems and their websites!
I sat thru a timeshare presentation in Cabo once. Hour and a half and I told them I was there for the jet skis. Got a half day free range jet ski rental. Totally worth it.
I have been in Vegas 4 times and had encountered these people. The second time me and my wife went there, out of curiosity we went with one of the guys and have ‘joined’ the supposedly brief seminar about time share. These people offered free snacks before the supposedly seminar. I outsmarted them by refusing to buy the time share they offered and we got a free ticket to the show they promised. The ticket costs $120 if you buy it in the ticket booth. Our efforts paid off.

Any seasoned traveller knows to NEVER engage with any stranger that approaches you. Don't talk to them. Don't respond to them. Don't look at them or appear to even know they exist. And for God's sake NEVER let them touch you or your belongings. If one does, you IMMEDIATELY put your attention and hands on your valuables and get away with extreme prejudice.
