And I just retrieved my transcript from the community college, but it's been so long I'm thinking they might not accept it & I'll have to redo. Not too worried about having to take a placement test though...might have to just brush up on memorizing some of the algebra formulas is all...

Thank you for all of this great information. Times have changed recently, pre requisites are no longer needed here in the state of GA for LPN. Need TEAS and orientation now. Still Need preqs to bridge to RN later though. Previous CMA or CNA licensing earn points toward score sheet as well.

I say do LPN route first if you plan on continuing! This is a great video. I also recommend taking advantage of taking a withdraw versus failing the course or not doing well. The loss of money short term is better than having to take semesters worth of classes to show improvement in GPA. Also, if you’re planning for a nursing degree that doesn’t include all of the hard sciences do yourself a favor and take them anyway if you want to give yourself the option of NP, PA, MD, routes post-prerequisite/ or nursing. Hello I'm here in Houston looking to get into nursing. Currently working as a CNA. Do you have any more information on the programs here in Texas that may provide asisstance in paying for college?
I love all your videos! You're the best. I am applying for Fall 2025 nursing program at my community college. They want me to take Elementary Algebra I, B minimum. Essentials of Chemistry, B minimum. Biology of the Human Organism, C minimum. I can't believe they only need 3 pre requisites. Then the HESI entrance exam, which is 70% in all main subject areas and 70% cumulative score.
Sis it took me a year to get through my prerequisites. I passed the TEAS this past summer and will find out if I get a seat for this fall. I am so excited. The only reason I didn’t apply to multiple school is because I didn’t want to take the TEAS over.
Yay! I wonder could you use those TEAS scores at other schools? Good luck with everything, pre reqs is really one of the biggest hurdles, so congrats on getting that done so fast!!
I found out I have 6 pre-reqs (Anatomy and Physiology 1&2, English Comp 1&2, College Algebra, Microbiology, Gen Psych, and Chemistry for non majors) to take before applying to the nursing program, but Im determined to get through them and become a Nurse❤ Thanks for the info.
You probably have to also take biology if you haven’t already, it’s typically a pre req for micro and A&P. Some schools also make sure you have a certain math completed (I believe mine was intermediate algebra) before you start the chemistry class. It’s crazy that there are pre reqs for your pre reqs. I would check with an advisor to see if this is the case at your school. Good luck with everything, it may take a lil time to get these class done but it’s worth it. Hey there, I have NOTHING to offer about chemistry except take it with ‘easier’ classes or even on its own, get a tutor, do any and all extra credit or lil fluff assignments if they have them, so you can make up for tests you may score bad on. I had to take this class twice and get a tutor. It actually becomes interesting once you can dedicate enough time to it but boy oh boy if you get behind it’s hard to get back on track. Also, if you feel like you can’t get a B or better just withdraw (don’t wait too long to drop the class or it will drop your GPA, drop the class during the add drop period…if you have to). Do some research on the best teachers to take, you can try rate my professor or ask some of your classmates that may have taken it or your advisor. Good luck!!!
How do you feel about schools that offer , the prerequisites within the nursing program ? I just recently moved from Rhode Island where there was only about 4 nursing schools. Now I’m in Florida and there’s so many options and many of the schools will let you do them while in the program.
Make sure the school is regionally accredited. My current situation, completed a program with prerequisites included, it's accredited, but not regionally so I have to complete prerequisites all over again for the next program.
Rasmussen….yes i’ve done some serious thinkin and researching bout them but they are so pricey. plus look at all nurses reviews on them and the BBB on them…kind of made me pause however apparently each state is diff. ea program in each state.
I already have a bachelors in another field every school I try to go for the bachelors program they send me straight to the masters program nursing is hard and general and i don’t feel comfortable jumping straight into a masters I was in two lpn programs and left as that was hard I’m just trying to start on my prerequisites now and a community college is very hard for me any recommendations everyone is saying portage
Have you paid for it yet? To light a fire under me I always pay for my tests, that way I feel the pressure to start studying, cause you do not want to waste that money. It’s the first step on your next path, go ahead and take it.
Any advice you can offer me? I am trying to get LPN? I am a Working mom with enough savings to take off a year and not work. Should I take loans go to school full time fast track LPN program and throw myself into it all the way or work part time/school part time? The job I’m at now pays for tuition reimbursement but I don’t think I can focus on school working as a mom.
Hi there, you could start off as part time and see how that goes and if need be you can quit to focus on school. If you can avoid loans that’s always great, but look at the numbers and see what’s best for you (maybe even consider paying half for school half with loans, you can also get financial aid too right? Also check and see if they have a wioa program in your area. I know a lot of students got like $5,000-$10,000 to pay for school when they got into this wioa program. Also, remember that some jobs will offer tuition reimbursement once you graduate and get ur first nursing job. Either way you won’t know what you can do until you do it, get in and see what you need to do as you go. It’s great that you have a good savings, you can do it! Good luck!
My first and only classes for next semester is A&P 1 and A&P 1 with lab so its two classes. I was thinking about taking Psych with it but i heard A&P is so difficult i should just take it alone😭
I think it’s very smart to focus on A&P alone. This course is the backbone for nursing in general. You really need the info in this course so just take your time and really work on making it stick. Maybe do some easier classes like psych over the summer or as a half semester course of your school offers it. But yea you are def doing the smart thing!
It was and if someone would have told me it would have taken that long I probably wouldn't have gone for it, but hey the time went by and now I'm done and working as a RN.
It depends on the program you go to. My lpn program didn't take prereqs from otthwr schools and other schools didn't take their prereqs either. It was all buildt into the program.
I’m in Michigan and doing the lpn we need 4 prereq .. none was math…..just English, anatomy physiology introduction, to nursing microbiology and/or General biology….
Sick to my stomach about this. Have not been in school since 2015. I have all this science to take, don't know a LICK of it. Have no idea how I am even going to study etc. Jesus
That’s why I decided at 40 3 small kids to start with the LPN IN THE state of Michigan you only need 4 perq….non are math. All the math high sciences are definitely BSN ….

The jc colleges in Sacramento,ca go by gpa and not placement exams, but they still have pre reqs for the higher classes
I know it’s so competitive in Cali, but that pay!
Thank you 🙏 you are the best ❤
How do you feel about schools that offer , the prerequisites within the nursing program ? I just recently moved from Rhode Island where there was only about 4 nursing schools. Now I’m in Florida and there’s so many options and many of the schools will let you do them while in the program.
BE CAREFUL IN FLORIDA! Make sure the school is accredited
@@DevTheDudeRN yea I know , the schools I’m looking at are accredited , Jersey college, Rasmussen, and Galen.
Make sure the school is regionally accredited. My current situation, completed a program with prerequisites included, it's accredited, but not regionally so I have to complete prerequisites all over again for the next program.
@@nolabae okay , what’s the difference between regionally and nationally accredited?
Rasmussen….yes i’ve done some serious thinkin and researching bout them but they are so pricey.
plus look at all nurses reviews on them and the BBB on them…kind of made me pause however apparently each state is diff. ea program in each state.
I already have a bachelors in another field every school I try to go for the bachelors program they send me straight to the masters program nursing is hard and general and i don’t feel comfortable jumping straight into a masters I was in two lpn programs and left as that was hard I’m just trying to start on my prerequisites now and a community college is very hard for me any recommendations everyone is saying portage
Reach out to your counselors for study groups reach out for all type of extra help
Thanks for doing this video ! Also, any suggestions for getting into Teas testing without procrastinating🤦🏾♀️
Have you paid for it yet? To light a fire under me I always pay for my tests, that way I feel the pressure to start studying, cause you do not want to waste that money. It’s the first step on your next path, go ahead and take it.
Very helpful thank you
You....are.....the...BEST!!!🙄🙄🙄
Im insane I have like 5 prerequisites and 4 of them are science 😢.
5 years is wild
It was and if someone would have told me it would have taken that long I probably wouldn't have gone for it, but hey the time went by and now I'm done and working as a RN.
English is my second language. Please wish me luck
Is this for LPN also
It depends on the program you go to.
Sorry if you answered this already. What GED books do you recommend to study for the placement tests?
I don't have a specific one I recommend, just make sure you do the practice exam and time yourself like you are taking the real test. Good luck!!
Can I go straight to RN without LPN and with No Degree?
I was wondering if you know of a good online LPN program that is accredited
ive honestly never heard of one
Sick to my stomach about this. Have not been in school since 2015. I have all this science to take, don't know a LICK of it. Have no idea how I am even going to study etc. Jesus
We're on the same boat
That’s why I decided at 40 3 small kids to start with the LPN IN THE state of Michigan you only need 4 perq….non are math. All the math high sciences are definitely BSN ….
Have anyone took rn associates program online? If so is it worth it❤ or any difference in person
Main reason why I'm going to Iowa is for Nursing School.
What’s going on with iowa nursing schools?
@@yourfavnurseb9699 Nothing special. I need a new environment. Somewhere with no distractions.
these pre reqs are a painnnn
That's really half the battle, a lot of people can't make it through, but you got this!
