I’m going into nursing because I have a special needs son who will eventually need long term care so I can be his nurse and get paid to take care of him here in California That’s my drive to be able to better care for his needs
Hey Justine! I just got my CNA and I am debating whether to go into an LVN program or work as a CNA while studying the prerequisites. Unfortunately, I don't have a good support system. I have to work in order to survive. Some co-workers tell me, why don't you go right into an RN program. They say hospitals are not hiring LVNs. In my mind, I see the RN route too long and I don't want to keep waiting to start making a decent living. What do you suggest. You are of great inspiration by the way!
First off, thank you so much 😊 and second, I say go with your gut and your heart! Don’t let anyone get in your head because it will really make you doubt yourself. If you have to work and you can go into an LVN program still do it! If that’s where you can get in and get out quicker you can always go back later for that RN when you are in a better place. It’s really up to you! I wish you the best! 👍🏽😷 you got this!
I would say definitely go with whatever seems right for you. It might be wise to start with lpn first if setting a good foundation for yourself financially is what you’re looking for. 2-2 1/2 years is a long time to work and go to school while struggling to get enough hours at work and be able to go to school and study. Also, the lpn route is less expensive.
