You’ll definitely have to take math and English reading and writing before the higher science classes(I.e chemistry or microbiology etc) just so y’all know
Not necessarily, I took college algebra after all of my science courses. And I took my other math & English classes while taking the science classes. But it wouldn’t hurt to take them earlier if you have issues with reading or basic math.

I have to take English 101, Chemistry, and Biology. I’m currently trying to figure out which ones I wanna take this semester because I know I can’t take Bio and Chem together. I feel like that’s asking for failure. Any suggestions? 😫
I have to do 3 electives as well I’m just like what’s the point. Also I don’t know which ones to take two of them have to be humanities and the other has to be social or behavioral

That's so much money for pre reqs😲 I have a "adult continuing education" program in my area and they will let you do night classes to go towards your grade 12 or as pre reqs all you need to pay is 50$ for your text book and you get the money back after the course

Hi I’m thinking about becoming a nurse but I want to major in human biology. If I do all my prerequisites that is required for nursing would the process be any longer than if I applied as a nursing major ? Ik how competitive it is to apply as a nursing major and that’s why I want to open my options to other majors .
Hi, it depends on the school. Technically your aren’t in the nursing program until you complete the prereqs anyways so it really shouldn’t make a difference what you major in as long as you take the required classes for the program. Let me know if that makes sense.

I am so confused with the school system here as I didn't grow up here. I'm looking at the catalog year of my community college and it says I need 72 credit hours to complete my ASN/ADN. 30 of those 72 credits are for prerequisites only. You listed Microbiology and Human G&D as core requisites but in my school catalog it is considered pre requisites. I just want to know if im on the right track as it is very confusing for me.

Okay hi , can anyone give me advice ? Sorry to spring this here but I don't have anyone to ask about such :) I'm 16 and I plan to move to America for my education. This question may seem ignorant but what do I major in while in community college ? Do I major in nursing the same way ? On all the sites I went on I saw ADN and such programs but I just want a BSN...I think I'm going about it the wrong way I'm not sure. Someone on quora told me I should just go community college in America then go to a university there( I currently live in Barbados). I don't wanna risk not being eligible for university because I did my pre requisites overseas
Thanks for the info you are the best. I wanted to know is it best to go for your nursing degree at a community college or university? I have finished all my prerequisite classes as well as my Co requisite classes since 2017 I believe. What do I look for to finish this journey?

I did it, but I was working as a nurse and was able to work 8 or 16 hour shifts so that helped me to only have to work 3 days a week. I also was able to work any shift so that gave me flexibility. I think it’s all possible you just have to make it work. Maybe start with 2 classes at a time and see how that workload is for you. Of course what classes you take makes a difference too because different classes require more of your time (math and science take a lot of time to study for esp math). It also depends on you as a student and how well you study or how much you already know about the subjects. All in all, as I stated it’s all possible but you have to see how to make it work for you.

Depends on you as a student and how much u pick up. Take it slow as far as how many days you work until you get a feel for the classes. But doing PRN is good that way you aren’t committed to a set schedule
@@yourfavnurseb9699 we have general bio and core bio1.. and neither of them are prereq for A&P. But I think I should take bio class before A&P..so which bio class should I take?
In Tennesee u still have to take all ur general ed classes in-order graduate from community college or university, like English comp 1 and 2, History 1 and 2, college algebra, psychology, 6 hours of humanities, oral communications, 2 natural science, 2 behavioral sciences on top of your A and P 1-2, micro, statistics, principles of nutrition, psychology, and human growth and development. After taking all of these classes then u are able to apply to the nursing program
It really depends on how you go about doing it and where u are in your education and what the school requires. But yes prereqs can take about 2 years and the actually rn can take 2 years as well plus longer if there is a waiting list

My advisor was trying to talk me into taking more time to actually receive a Health Science degree to be able to apply for the nursing program but all you need is to complete the requirements for your nursing school.
Make sure you do your research!!!
@@kaylacambronne1432 okay thanks! my advisor was vague and didn't really explain it to me well so i was so confused lmao
Prachi Shah Most definitely do not be afraid to ask questions!!! I ask questions all the time, and do your own personal research it really does help.
Hello, is it possible to take the prerequisites in a community college and then transfer the credits to the university where I applied for the Accelerated nursing program
Which chemistry are you taking, Basic one or the high chem with lab ?
You’ll definitely have to take math and English reading and writing before the higher science classes(I.e chemistry or microbiology etc) just so y’all know
Not necessarily, I took college algebra after all of my science courses. And I took my other math & English classes while taking the science classes. But it wouldn’t hurt to take them earlier if you have issues with reading or basic math.
Thank you so much for all the free information. I also live in st louse. Which school did you go to get your lpn if you don't mind? I'm currently working on my last hiset test so I can start the lpn pri classes. English is my second language. I'm struggling the hiset reading test😭, but I wouldn't give up.
Hi, I went to applied tech. Good luck with EVERYTHING. I congratulate you on coming this far. I can't imagine attempting to go to school in an entirely different language especially as a nurse. Hopefully I can find a nurse who isn't a native English speaker who i can do a interview with. Let me know how everything goes.

@@yourfavnurseb9699 Thank you girl. I will let you know?😊
@@yourfavnurseb9699 thank you so much for all you this video are very helpful I'm also starting my pre nursing classes in fall and English is my second language.
Lucy Carlson good luck with everything I have a lot of friends whose 2nd or 3rd language is English. One of my closest friends in nursing school is from Kenya. I’ve been hounding here to come on for an interview
@@yourfavnurseb9699 good to hear that I'm from Kenya too,I have an Rn friend she from Kenya I will see if I can connect her with you for the interview ,your videos has inspired me in a big way.
Where was this video when i was applying for classes in the fall?! 😭😭😭
I know! I’m a lil behind but there’s always spring semester
Gonna take me a year to finish the last 6 classes. Bc i have to take the classes in order bc they are pre reqs for the other classes I need smh. This summer quarter i took stats, psych 200 and communications and got all a’s. So i am thinking of doing fall quarter: critical thinking, chem 121, winter: bio 211, anthropology, spring: A&P, summer: micro biology
They want money so they pile on the prereqs. But when You are done, you are DONE! It’s going to be a good feeling. I would just focus of which ever one’s fit your schedule or that seem interesting and make sure u constantly look at the requirements for your program bc they love to remove and add required classes
Thank you 🙏🏼
You are so welcome
Thank you so much!
I want to know though. What do International Students who just want to complete pre-req courses fill in the applications? Like what course heading?...a little bit confused here.
Michael Onodu you need to research which school you want to apply to and contact them directly

Alright! Thank you.
Hi, thank you for informative video. I am planning to take all pre-reqs in 1st sem: Foundations of Chemistry, Bio 1 and psych in spring sem 1st session (12 weeks) and Eng 101 in 2nd session (summer 6 weeks). I need your suggestion, is this doable? Also planning to do some part-time job... but challenge is I must get A in all pre-reqs to qualify
Please can you recommend me, right now I just 7 classes.I plan to study on Spring/Summer and Fall 2022 before apply Nursing program on Spring 2023.
Can I plan to study as below:
Spring = Bio , Math Alg , ( Chem )
Summer = A & P I ( or Chem)
Fall = A & P II , Micro , Nurs life span
Please advise me. Thank you.
Hmm it looks pretty good I would say do chem on its own and see if your school has 8 week classes that way you can take A&P one and two in the same semesters if not then I think the way you have it will work. Do you have to take bio before taking micro?
@@yourfavnurseb9699 yes. But I don’t know A &P II it’s difficult which I can do with Chem on same time or not? Or I can do Bio Math and Chem on the Spring on the same semester?
So my background,I have a bachelors ‘s degree in Art. I never study in science before that why I don’t have idea for science classes. Please advise.
That's so much money for pre reqs😲 I have a "adult continuing education" program in my area and they will let you do night classes to go towards your grade 12 or as pre reqs all you need to pay is 50$ for your text book and you get the money back after the course
So it counts as an actual academic credit that schools will accept or is it just a continuing Ed credit?
I thought what she wrote was expensive as well, but I live in california and if you are over 25 and considered independent, your EFC is literally 0, which qualifies you for tuition fee waiver. Tuition is completely free, books however depends on if you can qualify for EOP program, they give 600$ for book vouchers if you qualify.
@@yourfavnurseb9699 it counts as an actual credit
Hi I’m thinking about becoming a nurse but I want to major in human biology. If I do all my prerequisites that is required for nursing would the process be any longer than if I applied as a nursing major ? Ik how competitive it is to apply as a nursing major and that’s why I want to open my options to other majors .
Hi, it depends on the school. Technically your aren’t in the nursing program until you complete the prereqs anyways so it really shouldn’t make a difference what you major in as long as you take the required classes for the program. Let me know if that makes sense.
Hey 👋🏽 so quick question I’m registered to take structure & function of the human body which is anatomy but is that going to count as a&p? I don’t wanna take a class that I’m not going to need.
Contact the nursing program that you are planning to go to. They will know if that class will transfer
yourfavnurseb I’m doing the nursing program at the school who registered me for this course but I will call and check to see thanks
In california, you can take a 4 credit anatomy and then a 4 credit physiology, OR you can take 4 credit A&P1 and then 4 credit A&P2.
is math125S easier than math125?? or is math125s pre class for the actual math125❤
I start this summer in my financial aid covers it and my school is not requiring me to take biology before Aand P
I am taking intro to probability and statistics is that okay? Or should i switch it to intermediate algebra?
Talk to an advisor at your school so they can steer you to the right classes for your particular program.
See what’s needed for the program
If you want a BSN probability and statistics is required. Sounds like you tested out of intermediate algebra but yes check with your advisor
YourFavNurseB my name is Jessica Walker and I'm a nursing student I took counseling 12 in August of 2021, and my final grade I got a B, I took speech in the winter semester of January 4, 2022, and it was a pass or fail class now I'm taking Biology 3 in the spring semester of February 14, 2022, and it will end on June 14, 2022, including with Lab my class is online zoom and my Lab is done worksheets fill in the blank and reading the chapters along with a video and my professor will give us 3 or 4 questions she will make up on her own all we do is read the chapters.
I just graduated from high school and planning to take college courses, are those some of the courses i need to take?
Look at the requirements or prerequisites for the nursing program you plan to go to and that will give you a list of all the classes you need to take before applying!
Kayla Cambronne hi I’m want to go to a lpn program. Do I jus take the prerequisites and then apply to the program my advisor kind of helped me with some questions but I still have a few.
Hello , this is really a great video, but i need help. I'm currently taking three courses, Music, Psch and Anatomy and Phy 1. I do want to take some classes this summer and i really need advice on this. thanks
What advice do you need?
Can you suggest me to take A&P during the summer ?
English is my second language
It depends on a lot of factors like, how good are you at science, are you taking other courses and will it be all online. But it is definitely doable
Okay hi , can anyone give me advice ? Sorry to spring this here but I don't have anyone to ask about such :)
I'm 16 and I plan to move to America for my education.
Thanks
Thanks for the info you are the best. I wanted to know is it best to go for your nursing degree at a community college or university? I have finished all my prerequisite classes as well as my Co requisite classes since 2017 I believe. What do I look for to finish this journey?

Do you think this schedule is possible while working 40 hours a week?
I'm entering my first year and my advisor gave me chemistry and bio together for fall 😭
How was your classes??
@@famattavarney2081 They we're actually really good, I finished with a 4.0 :)
WoW I am taking bA&P 1 right now, do you have any study tips for that?

Is it possible to work two PRN jobs while taking two prerequisites?? I’m taking A&P I & retaking Probability&Statistics!! Classes are only two days a week! What do you suggest??
Depends on you as a student and how much u pick up. Take it slow as far as how many days you work until you get a feel for the classes. But doing PRN is good that way you aren’t committed to a set schedule
Okay! I will! Thanks for the advice!
Take your time!
Which schools are you looking into for your LPN to RN and which state are you in?
st louis community college, indiana state university (online lpn to BSN) and lutheran school of nursing. Missouri
@@yourfavnurseb9699 online lpn to bsn would it be possible to go to that school out of state?
You have to check the site. There’s a list of states that recognize the degree, MO is one of them
My counselor told me I don’t need to take biology turns I need it after all 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
Yep! That’s why I don’t trust them. I always talk to more than one person. But you will take it and do great!
By bio, you mean general bio or intro to bio?
I guess general I didn’t know there was a difference
@@yourfavnurseb9699 we have general bio and core bio1.. and neither of them are prereq for A&P. But I think I should take bio class before A&P..so which bio class should I take?
Do they also need physics
I’ve never seen a program that requires it. But research schools in your area
@@yourfavnurseb9699 ok thnks
In Tennesee u still have to take all ur general ed classes in-order graduate from community college or university, like English comp 1 and 2, History 1 and 2, college algebra, psychology, 6 hours of humanities, oral communications, 2 natural science, 2 behavioral sciences on top of your A and P 1-2, micro, statistics, principles of nutrition, psychology, and human growth and development. After taking all of these classes then u are able to apply to the nursing program
Mary s oh wow. Here u can get into a BSN program with all those classes
🙏🏽❤️
So basically including prereq and adn im looking at 4 years?
It really depends on how you go about doing it and where u are in your education and what the school requires. But yes prereqs can take about 2 years and the actually rn can take 2 years as well plus longer if there is a waiting list
🎯🎯👋🏽❤️🙏🏽❤️‼️💪🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
My college requires that we have microbiology, Anatomy I and 2, and Chemistry completed before even applying to the nursing program.
You are stirring these ppl so wrong! You do not need to get those kinds of classes your first semester especially biology take a math i would say an the rest just easy classes because your still getting a feel of what college is like!! I’m telling you literally if it takes you 2 years to finish your pre reqs so what! It’s only 4 semesters but doing all those hard classes in 1 semester WILL SET YOU UP FOR FAILURE literally everybody i know who took biology the first semester coming in FAILED & are taking it again so unless your the smartest person out here this is a terrible idea & horrible video for new comers smh! & please don’t take your co reqs with your nursing classes that’s another dumb idea just take your time an go at your past & if you finish in 3 years it don’t matter you finished in all honesty the only thing that should take one year is nursing classes pre reqs definitely is about 2 years
Thank you for this😭 I read and hear everyone say they are going to finish it within 2 years which i feel makes me feel left behind and they be taking two sciences in one semester but i think ill take my time and probably finish by my 3rd year and then apply
