    Working casual is the way to go. The culture, stress and burnout in nursing is not worth it. Most nurses who don't balance their work and life often end up with Chronic diseases and substance abuse issues. Always remember that we work to live, not live to work. God bless.

      How do you get into aesthetic nursing?

    • @kuromiii444
      @kuromiii444 9 місяців тому +1

      @@MsDstarr I know it's been a year since this comment but depending on the state you live requires an RN to do aesthetic treatments. I live in CA and LVN's are not able to do most aesthetic treatments like injectables and lasers but I do know an LVN who worked at a medspa who was able to do body contouring treatments.
      Even with an RN degree it's hard to get into aesthetics unless you have experience. If you try applying to a nicer medspa right off the bat without any experience you most likely will not be considered. This is because medspas want to ensure that the person they're hiring isn't just going to dip as soon as they get all their trainings in (medspas usually cover the cost for their providers to receive training in aesthetic treatments)
      I would probably recommend applying to places like LaserAway, who have countless locations all over. Just get your one year in with them and as much experience to add to your resume, and then you can start applying to the better medspas. LaserAway has a huge turnover rate because most of their nurses leave as soon as they're able to as LaserAway doesn't have the best reputation when it comes to the support they give their employees.
      I know a lot of RN's who've gone the LaserAway route and now work for more reputable medspas.
      Also just to add some credibility on why I know this info: I've been working in aesthetics for quite a few years but mainly the administrative end. I'm currently in school doing an LVN to BSN program and plan on staying in aesthetics but this time as a provider :)

      As a wound-care patient, I can tell you that such nurses are very much needed. Healthcare professionals that don't specialize in it (or do it on a regular basis) suck. It doesn't matter if they are MD's/DO's, NPs/PAs or bed-side nurses. They don't know what they are doing. Companies are constantly trying to recruit the nurses at the facility I go to. Here's a story one of the nurses told me.
      Before she started working at this current facility, she worked in private practice for an MD that was an ass hat. One day, she had enough. She walked off the job and gave the doctor a piece of her mind. Within less than a week, he was calling her at home and begging her to come back (with a raise and all that). What he didn't know was that she started applying for (and had offers for jobs) before he was begging on her voicemail.
      She had so many offers that she was like, "Hell no!" She took one of the other offers -- and is very glad she did. I said, "I know you were feeling yourself," and she busted out laughing. Oh, I should also say that she has years of experience under her belt when she did this. She was no Spring chicken, as she liked to say. I think it's still a cool story, though. Good luck with your schooling.

    I feel old as dirt doing CNA work right now compared the the younger people in my facility lol. I have recently thought about LPN or RN program because all of my nurses and fellow aides tell me I need to become a nurse cause I'm so good with my people lol. So I'm thinking of LPN first. I was a CNA from age 30 to 42, and like you, I felt "old" compared to others, and was frequently told I should become a nurse, based on my good patient care. I did feel a bit hopeless that it was possible for me to get thru nursing school.
      I began my LPN program at age 41, and started working as an LPN at age 42. I have been an LPN for about 1 year now, and it is much more mentally stressful than working as a CNA. I am happy I achieved my nursing license, but feel that health care facilities are unsafe in their nurse-patient ratios, in general.

      I just graduated & passed nclex in February this year and there are sooo many options as an LPN! I live in TN so the pay isn’t all that great here but I started at $23/hr right out of school.. passed on 1 job that was $26/hr right out of school.. there are soo many options. California is where it’s at though if you want to make the big bucks.. Of course the cost of living is much higher as well.. but don’t be nervous! After Covid, many new possibilities opened for LPNs 🥰

    They have been trying to phase out LPN’s since I was in my 20’s and I’m 61 now, do the math 😅 LPNs be making money now especially a seasoned one. You can make $40 and up, they pay good here in the Northeast…not every jail is nice to work in…the one I work at is a hotel compared to others … we have med passers that go out in the population to dispense…as nurses we only give clinic dispensed and we call them up for those times. Only medical emergencies we have to go out or someone really sick and in that case they going to the hospitals I personally am in a sweet spot cause I should be retired in 5 years or so, but I can still work per diem or part time somewhere…great career for a one 1-2 year education 🎉

    New subbie!🌹 I graduated LPN school in September 2020, passed nclex in November 2020. I still haven't gained employment as of yet. Im a little afraid to get out there, due to covid/pandemic my last two semesters in school were online including clinicals. So im not as confident since we really didn't get hands on the last few semesters.
