How to fight like John Wick:
Step 1) Shoot anything but the head
Step 2) Shoot the head
you had to be like deadpool. He did shoot the head. And he used everything to kill them quickly!
He shoots the body so they don't move, then the head to get a certain kill.
Step 1 : to immobilize the target.
Step 2 : to kill / confirming the kill.
Getting headshots isn't as easy as its made out to be in videogames.
It's called the "Failure Drill", a technique I believe police officers in America are trained to do. The technique is used when you're faced with a threat that needs to be stopped ASAP. You fire two rounds into the main body of the target and if this *_fails_* to stop the target, due to factors like body armor, drugs, adrenaline or simply bad shots, you should then take the more difficult shot to the head.
There's a few varying theories on it, but the basic of it is to absolutely assure that the target wont get up again as you may not be in a situation where you can consider the factors listed above. As someone else said, firing into the body may not kill them but can at least stop them so it is easier to to line up a shot to the head, which can be especially helpful if the target has a firearm of their own. It's not advised to carefully aim for the head while you yourself are getting shot at.

That's what I really admire the writer and the director for much-thought work. They make their "action/fantasy" film to be believable with these little details. That's why John Wick becomes very high valued franchise. Kudo to them!!!

Also at first when he is doing the kills silently, he is in a room where calm music is being played, then Iosef runs into a party with (of course) other music and John follows. In my opinion the change of music was done perfectly and underlines the actions

I like the gun fighting in this movie, seems a lot more realistic than most other movie gunfights.
How in the ever living fuck is this in any way realistic other than the fact he reloads
+RazTheGoblin The way he holds the firearms, the way he fires the guns using controlled pairs and "hammers" (two shots in quick succession, aka, double taps), the way he fires 1 or 2 shots to center mass (location of major organs including heart and lungs) and then finishes up with a shot to the head to make sure the threat is down for good. He uses his offhand to control the threats and keep them at a distance while using his gun hand to end them. He keeps the pistol close to his body when fighting threats that are up close instead of stretching his arm all the way out to shoot a guy that's 3 feet away that could grab onto the gun and get it away from him/prevent him from firing it. When reloading he also uses his offhand to release the slide manually instead of hitting the slide release button like they always do in Hollywood movies. And the reloading too, like you said, he seems to actually reload every 15 rounds or so instead of some bullshit movies where the guy fires 18 shots out of a revolver that couldn't possibly hold more than 6 rounds, etc... Even the hand to hand fighting is pretty decent, he uses actual realistic strikes like hammer fists and uses his whole body to fight, like when he uses his cuffs to strangle the guy and uses his legs, shoulders and back to apply pressure and lock in the hold.Im not saying its as real as it gets im just saying its a lot more realistic than a lot of other Hollywood movies that go totally unrealistic bullshit mode like the matrix, or shooting down helicopters with a pistol like in one of the newer Die Hards.

i just watched this movie and here's my review: first off over all 9.5/10 movie.
the lighting and the way the colors blended in the scenes really set the tone for the movie and how the scene would end up. in the beginning it was nice with lots of lights. then gray when his wife died. before he killed anyone the lighting would be nice and bright and as he began his spree became darker setting the tone. the blues and maroons were a nice touch. the settings were also very nice and beautiful even as they were being destroyed. kind of like johns life. loser's father (forgot his name) was a likeable character. the music and sound FX were very nice and fit perfect with the overall mood and story. the action was more than action, you weren't just witnessing it, you were there. the way that people died and how john killed was very natural and real. he didn't just kill and keep going there were obstacles like making sure they were dead and unlike a lot of 'hero's' he made sure they were dead, even if they had 3 bullets in their stomach he made sure they got one to the head.

this was a really well put together movie and I think Keanu reeves was a great choice.

He's only going on a murderous rampage because the dog he got was a gift from his dying wife. It was the last piece of life she ever had. When losef and his gang ends up killing his dog, he's driven by rage and grief, considering it's all he ever had left from his wife, and they killed it. So, in order to avenge both his dog and his wife's deaths, he goes out and kills them in return.

I've never been a Keanu fan but after I saw this movie and learned how hard he trained, did all his own stunts, learned with spec OPS, etc I have mad respect. One of the best action films I've ever seen. I can't wait for the sequel. Keanu is a bad ass mofo
