      Haha yeah they target what seem to be dogfish over there but they call them smoothhound.
      UK: "Gotta have this perfect piece of crab to catch the prized smoothhound"
      US: "Dammit, another dogfish"

      +Nolan Minor i dont think its a dog fish. we catch a lot of them here in nyc. Infact caught a few yesterday under verazanno bridge. I tend to catch them at night time mostly after 8 pm. not a fun fish to fight though.

    Hey, another awesome video, man. Do you have any other tips about preserving the cut bait (besides hooking through the nostrils) when scavengers such as crabs keep eating the guts? I've tried using rubberbands, but they don't hold up very well. Look forward to seeing more of your vids!

    • @ChrisMcIntee
      @ChrisMcIntee  8 років тому +1

      +TownoTowno I've heard of different techniques like floating the bait off the bottom but me personally, I just cope with the crabs by rebaiting often... Bring extra bait haha.

    You should use coast lock swivels instead of those plastics things to attach your weight. Went loading up the rod to cast the plastic can break. Much safer to use coast lock swivels. I've seen it happen on a pier and you don't want an 8oz pyramid sinker hitting someone.

    • @dylanwilliams8007
      @dylanwilliams8007 5 років тому

      What kind of line are you using? How long is your rod and how heavy is your sinker? One thing that helps me is to be sure that you’re using the full extension of your arms. Make sure they go all the way back and all the way forward. Any movement you don’t use is just less potential energy. Everything else is also a huge variable. I know I’m not him but hope I could help. I had the same problem when I first started surf casting and I don’t live close enough to the ocean to do it frequently so I’d just practice in my local creeks/the bay

    • @ChrisMcIntee
      @ChrisMcIntee  8 років тому

      +Joey Rowing 200lb, but 100lb usually gets the job done... I have slowly evolved to use heavier and heavier shock leader because when you do get the right bite it sucks losing the fish due to them shaffing through the shock.

      That's illegal for brown sharks and sand tigers, not allowed to open their mouths or bring them out of the water and release them immediately, you must release the fish witg the best possible chance of survival

    • @703fishing3
      @703fishing3 7 років тому

      Not necessary. I'd say a 6000 with 250 yards is perfect. I've been fishing with that that much and a little less forever. The sharks tend to run along the beach than away so no worries of being spooled.
