Love this game! Really thought they'd release Macho Man as DLC, but THQ just didn't support this title after its release. Minus the absence of a few Icons, this game is amazing!!!
Despite the criticism of this game, it was still a fun time for me as a kid who liked both the Attitude Era and the WWF era! Remembering this game feels so nostalgic!
I passionately hope that one day TQH will release something like "WWE Attitude Era" on SvR engine, a kind of remake of first two Smackdown!'s. This game, I think, would just kill all other wrestling games )))
IGN is full of it. It was meant to look oldschool like the Wrestlfest Games did in the Arcade but in 3D. I loved the look. All this Game Needed was Macho Man and a more Golden era tag teams. Universe Mode and it would of been perfect. But if you grew up in the golden era this is a must have along with WWE2K14 in your collection. Dont listen to this review. Once you get use to it, You'll love it.
I brought this game when it first came out played it a few times didnt feel it and never played it again untill yesterday, this game actually kicks arse, the graphics are good, the gameplay is free flowing the controls are completely different from wwe12 but after a while you do get used to it, i highly recommend this game.
eh i love how the wrestlers look in this. i had never even thought to compare them to how the action figures looked but maybe that's what i liked about it, cause i used to play with the action figures a lot. it felt more real to me than how the WWE games look, not sure why.
Wow the reviewer just trashed the game I gotta say the games pretty enjoyable if you'd like to see legends you may remember and the looks and feel of the first 15 WrestleManias the game has I thought it was an overall good game 9 out of 10
There is only one non- Wrestlemania arena (Royal Rumble). No SummerSlam, No Survivor Series, No KOTR, No IYH and no weekly television shows like Superstars or Raw. No wonder why it’s hard to get mileage out of this game.
@MeTaLiCkMoNsTeR yes there is a demo, but it only features: 1. Exhibition - Hulk Hogan & Andre The Giant 2. Relive - Stone Cold vs. The Rock, you can only play as Stone Cold
This game is good, the only flaw is the roster & gameplay, and this must have been the last WWE game Yukes worked on before they got lazy. First off, Savage not being in, I assume the guy had some issues with WWE at the time, a let down that he wasn't in but not something to hate. The crowd looks way better here than in every other WWE game after this, most of the clothing in character creation was never added to the rest of the WWE games & the reversal system was perfect.
I thought the graphics and entrances were great in this game. I liked the look of the wrestlers and there are a lot of them to choose from. I've never played a Smackdown vs Raw game, Legends is the only wrestling game I've ever played and I'd have to say I enjoyed it. The controls are a little annoying at times, however every game has its flaws. Overall I'd recommend this to the casual gamer, there is a couple days worth of stuff to do in this game. 7.5 out of 10.
I disagree with his review. This game isn't nearly as bad as he said. He didn't mention the tiered moves. As the match progresses, you reach a new tier of moves. I like this better than Smackdown vs Raw since you won't be doing the same moves for long. I mean you usually could just go backbreaker, backbreaker, backbreaker, finisher, rinse, repeat. They replace the combination with a completely different move, so you have to change it up. Much better than SVR. Fire Pro's better than both, though.
MAGIC BELTS! ; ) For me, just the fact that this game doesn't support custom soundtracks makes it a FAIL! And for some reason, nobody ever seems to mention custom soundtracks when reviewing wrestling games (or any game for that matter). As if it doesn't matter. And I think it's an important feature. Hearing your own music as your created wrestlers enter adds a huge difference to the games.
Jay M OMG! Over a month since that last comment where I was complaining about the game not supporting custom soundtracks. And I finally decided to buy this game anyway and see what it was like, and much to my surprise, IT DOES SUPPORT CUSTOM SOUNDTRACKS! Why didn't anyone tell me? I nearly passed on this game forever for a reason that wasn't even true. Unfortunately, the play control is making me regret buying it. They totally destroyed what appears to have the potential to have been a great wrestling game.
+kenterminatedbygoogle Yeah, I sadly found out how much the gameplay sucks. I played it only once or twice and never touched it again. And I never bought 2k15 because of hearing it didn't support custom soundtracks. In fact, hardly ANY PS3 games supports them. I don't know why the PS3 even HAS that ability if no companies are going to take advantage of it. I have 44 PS3 games, and I think that only one of them (2k14) supports custom soundtracks.
Well It's like another repeating "hall of fame" according to WWE's "modern vision about Wrestlemania"; Because most of them were placed in many other SmackDown WWE Games for these last years,... It's the recycled and bored repeating and not making nothing really new.. . 5 vs 5,? real fall counts anywhere? and many variety of wrestlers from differents Eras? new special matches? NO... ! the only thinks is the real old school 8' ft Cage Match and many specifics....
This games good and they have alot of the wwf legends but i think they could have added a few more recent players such as Triple h (hunter is already in it), kane, Possibly jeff hardy if it is wrestlemania legends... etc
@1987TimeLord SvR '07 and '08 were so disappointing I'd be surprised if a lot of people took the time to buy SvR 09. Although, I've heard 2010 and 2011 were pretty good.
@1987TimeLord Yeah 2010 is better just because it introduced more. Mainly why Here Comes The Pain! is praised. Universe mode is holy though. It's annoying that you have to download a lot of up and coming stars, like Barrett, Otunga, Chris Masters, and Justin Gabriel. And you need 262 MB space to even download them, which is way TOO MUCH MEMORY SPACE.
Its worth it just for the clips because its so cheap now. If you arent all about graphics then this game is playable no matter the year because its full of legends unlike old SvR games where its mostly nobodies so no point buying them now.
You know what this game was missing? DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT. I'm not mad at what this game already had to offer in terms of nostalgia, but I've been watching wrestling throughout the attitude and ruthless aggresion era. How cool would it have been to play as the radicalz or Y2J or even the rapper cena on say wrestlemania x-seven. I wasn't on the nostalgia boat for the eighties or early nineties so it would've been nice if they went all the way to WM20
Any company needs to take ideas from all wrestling games ever made to make a really good one. In one ECW game I remember being able to mod a ring to the colors you wanted. Good for a FMW japanese wrestling fan(red mat w/yellow ropes etc.). CAW is fine as far as apearance. but the moves and controlls should be likeTHQ's No Mercy set up for a great variety of moves. and wih todays tech you can download logos and make a bunc of other things too like your own arenas. anyways comment with Ideas
I almost.....ALMOSt bought this game yesterday, even though I had downloaded the demo from ps online and hated it. This review just settled it for me. I'll rent it, not buy it
The game is pretty good guys, I mean alot of guys might bitch about the controls because its not like smackdown vs raw. I think this would appeal to old skool wrestling fans though, like me. Plus I dont play smackdown vs raw anymore because it kind of suck. This kind've reminds me of the No mercy days.
Macho man had a love affair with Stephanie McMahon when she was fourteen. That's also why he will never be in the hall of fame but deserves it more then anyone! Stephanie is fine!!!
He is only in the game if you have Smackdown vs Raw 2009. They allow you to use the smackdown roster in the game but after hearing this review it should be the other way around
They really should do a new Legends game, based on the Hulkamania / Golden Age Era. 1984 till 1994.
Myers 1978 yes
I whole lot of tag teams back then
I thought this game was cool when I played it. Ever since I was 10
Love this game! Really thought they'd release Macho Man as DLC, but THQ just didn't support this title after its release. Minus the absence of a few Icons, this game is amazing!!!
1:26 "Hulk Hogan NEVER had this much hair..." Lol. The hair is on POINT.
Despite the criticism of this game, it was still a fun time for me as a kid who liked both the Attitude Era and the WWF era! Remembering this game feels so nostalgic!
Would love to see an updated re release of an IYH, Attitude or WarZone game with current visuals as like a special edition thing
I passionately hope that one day TQH will release something like "WWE Attitude Era" on SvR engine, a kind of remake of first two Smackdown!'s. This game, I think, would just kill all other wrestling games )))
Take out John Cena and put in Macho Man Randy Savage! Or Ricky Steamboat!
Yeah! Forget John Cena! He be burying future WWE stars all the time, and I hate it!😠
John cena is an import from svr 2009
the steal cage match looks like your playing it on N64
IGN is full of it. It was meant to look oldschool like the Wrestlfest Games did in the Arcade but in 3D. I loved the look. All this Game Needed was Macho Man and a more Golden era tag teams. Universe Mode and it would of been perfect. But if you grew up in the golden era this is a must have along with WWE2K14 in your collection. Dont listen to this review. 2k14 was the best
I brought this game when it first came out played it a few times didnt feel it and never played it again untill yesterday, this game actually kicks arse, the graphics are good, the gameplay is free flowing the controls are completely different from wwe12 but after a while you do get used to it, i highly recommend this game.

Greg is not a wrestling fan. A lot of his gripes were coming from a really subjective non fan point of view.
Wow the reviewer just trashed the game I gotta say the games pretty enjoyable if you'd like to see legends you may remember and the looks and feel of the first 15 WrestleManias the game has I thought it was an overall good game 9 out of 10
no its not a 9 its mybe a solid 6 above average
i was born in the nineties 98
yea I agree iam a wrestling fan and I like seeing the old school arenas and legends I like the game
+Carlos Mendez A 9 OUT OF TEN!? By your standards every game that's ever been released would be a 10/10
This game is alot of fun. I started playing it again last night. Gonna get all the achievements.
It's just a svr vs raw 2009 with wwe legendsband 'and better graphics
I actually like this game. Reminds me of Showdown, legends of wrestling. And I loved that game growing up
This review sucks,...this game was awesome!
I just played it in love it thanks bro
You'll never find a more robust roster of legends in a decent game.
that game is 8 years old and its a classic!
this game has the best hell in a cell out of all the wwe games.mankind is not in the game, but his bag of thumbtacks are in the hell in the cell.
I agree dude 1984 to 1994. For me wrestlmania 1 to 7 is where it’s at.
I personally enjoyed this game
that was exactly what I was saying. There is many wrestlers that come before him before he gets to be a legend
I just downloaded this on my Ps3 yesterday, its okay
There is only one non- Wrestlemania arena (Royal Rumble). No SummerSlam, No Survivor Series, No KOTR, No IYH and no weekly television shows like Superstars or Raw. No wonder why it’s hard to get mileage out of this game.
Yes buy it for 10! It reminds me a lot of the old N64 wrestling games. It's a great nod to the WWE superstars of old.
Okay but the ultimate warrior was that big😂
hopefully they also include ECW guys too. you gotta have all 3 organizations.
Where the hell is hillbilly jim!
The Great Khali vs. Big Show vs. King Kong Bundy vs. Big Daddy V vs. Andre the Giant vs. Yokozuna! Let's see the ring hold up after that!
@MeTaLiCkMoNsTeR yes there is a demo, but it only features:
1. Exhibition - Hulk Hogan & Andre The Giant
2. Relive - Stone Cold vs. The Rock, you can only play as Stone Cold
I think a good dlc pack for this game should include Ricky Steamboat,Alt attire for Bigbossman,King of the ring arena,Scott Hall and Kevin Nash.
@jgmalinov >.> I didn't know winning MITB then being injured for the rest of your WWE career made you a legend.
Much better than any SVR game not named the original or 2006.
I thought the graphics and entrances were great in this game. I liked the look of the wrestlers and there are a lot of them to choose from. I've never played a Smackdown vs Raw game, Legends is the only wrestling game I've ever played and I'd have to say I enjoyed it. I bought this game today! At first i thought the controls were fucked up untill i got used to it and stared to kick some legendary candy asses
It has a ton of gold trophies for the PS3. Worth a rent for that.
MAGIC BELTS! ; )
For me, just the fact that this game doesn't support custom soundtracks makes it a FAIL! Unfortunately, the play control is making me regret buying it. They totally destroyed what appears to have the potential to have been a great wrestling game.
+Jay M Unfortunately, the gameplay sucks.
Plus, WWE 2k15 stopped using Custom Soundtracks. That game sucked too!!!
+kenterminatedbygoogle Yeah, I sadly found out how much the gameplay sucks. I played it only once or twice and never touched it again. Jay M
Try out any game after Smackdown vs Raw 08 and before WWE 2k15, you get to upload custom music.
This games good and they have alot of the wwf legends but i think they could have added a few more recent players such as Triple h (hunter is already in it), kane, Possibly jeff hardy if it is wrestlemania legends... etc
so should i buy this for 10
tna impact had great gameplay, it's just that the controls weren't elaborate, not horrible, and there wasnt alot to do in the game
The game was awesome only problem I had was the controls if they made some sort of sequel I really hope they use the same controls as WWE 13.
i want to see them throw the legends back into the mainstream smackdown vs raw games
I agree bro also Don Muraco Paul Orndoff and Ivan Putski!!!
They were imported from Smackdown Vs. Raw 2009.
its always best to play exhibition matches with a manager.it keeps the camera for the ring to stop moving around so much.
i wish they would just make an attitude era game on the new gen consoles. "Attitude era legends" or something like that.
all they had to do was take the SVR controls and use them here and it would of been amazing
Alot of people were supposed to be in the game, but got cut due to licensing issues, hence THQ had to put the 09 roster to make up for it.
Elimination Chamber was not back in the late 80s-early 90s. That is why it was not there.
I like the kind of cartoon look.
Hulk Hogan did have that much hair at a point.
Watch Rocky 3.
they need to put the legends in the SvR game like they used to do. it was awesome
@lukajus yea but that game was made with the arcade feel in mind so larger than life physiques are a must have
its my opinion dude im sick of people whining about savage, read why he ain't in the games and get over it. DIG IT OOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHH YEEEEEEEEEEAAAHH
If this game had here comes the pain controls I would have loved it. Unfortunately I hate it.
@1987TimeLord SvR '07 and '08 were so disappointing I'd be surprised if a lot of people took the time to buy SvR 09. Although, I've heard 2010 and 2011 were pretty good.
Does it have trophy support for ps3?
I remember it did when I played it that long ago on PS3
It's actually pretty good I think
No, it is an awesome game. My friend has it and me and him play it all the time
I think it looks great but if the controls are as bad as he says... meh...
THQ should not get all the blame hell ; WWE deserves alot of this , because they have the last how the should be in full scheme of things
The macho man, tito santana, and hercules should have been added to the game.
they should make another one of these games, exept acually realistic
These are the Legends of Wrestlemania, that's enough for me.
The game would have been great if it kept the style of SvR and didn't change to the button bullcrap
It a decent game which I'll never get rid of.
@LordKellicos it is very fun, don't let bloody IGN put you off. You can pick it up proper cheap anyways.
Showdown legends of wrestling 1 n 2 in my opinion will and will forever be better then WWE's legends of Wrestlemania ;)
wrestling games don't suck there one of the best sport games out there
Its worth it just for the clips because its so cheap now. If you arent all about graphics then this game is playable no matter the year because its full of legends unlike old SvR games where its mostly nobodies so no point buying them now.

Jeff Hardy is there too :D

what was the colourfull guy on the left at 1:47 ??
i liked this game...royal rumble mode kicked ass
Noooooooo NOOOO we don't want a LOW 5 coming out with the WWE logo on it
I just wish the hot tag system was the same as SDvsRaw 2009's hot tag system.
I almost.....ALMOSt bought this game yesterday, even though I had downloaded the demo from ps online and hated it.
This review just settled it for me. I'll rent it, not buy it
We need a release this game but fix the issues.
2:02 "C'mon Bon!" LOL. :]
?
The game is pretty good guys, I mean alot of guys might bitch about the controls because its not like smackdown vs raw.
I think this would appeal to old skool wrestling fans though, like me. Plus I dont play smackdown vs raw anymore because it kind of suck. This kind've reminds me of the No mercy days.
@STEVENSDANIEL123
ya .. svr 2010 should have been the best for the ps2 , but the limited features lead players to jealousy of the ps3 version
The roster looked good, but so many legends were missed. Wheres Owen Hart, Razor Ramon, not even a voice over from the Macho Man Randy Savage
i find this game allot of fun actually
Still This was better than WWE All stars
is there any point in buying this now ?
I suck at these button timing mini-games and as for the art style. This isn't WWE All-Stars and shouldn't be.
@UzumakiSonic619 The list for 2011 is on THQ website.
they are brining back Bret hart aswell as a pre-order unlock
Macho man had a love affair with Stephanie McMahon when she was fourteen. That's also why he will never be in the hall of fame but deserves it more then anyone! Stephanie is fine!!!
He's in the HOF now!
half of those r in svr09, but they couldnt of just added them as dlc, or import dlc into the game from svr09
This is way better than WWE 2K14
Tom Bekhor You're joking.
what would b better, this or smackdown vs raw?? and check Peanskean music out
@renzm519 So was he playable on TNA impacted? He will be in the next TNA game.
the game would be good if it had regular controls
Yes it's available for the PS3. I once bought my XBOX360 copy for 59,99$ haha... Then my Xbox broke... I bought it a year later on the PS3 for 19,99$
Still looks and plays better than WWE 2K20
He is only in the game if you have Smackdown vs Raw 2009. They allow you to use the smackdown roster in the game but after hearing this review it should be the other way around
1:35 - this is basicly the same start as in WM 13 Stone Cold VS Hitman
