Just loved this! Great information. I loved Julieanna's summary at the end - take the pressure out, eat WFPB, but acknowledge you are human, radical self- compassion. Make the best choices you can, as often as you can. Thank you all!
Oxalic acid is NOT a problem with Juicing Veggies, like Spinach, because they are NOT COOKED!!! Dr. Norman Walker, in “Fresh Vegetable and Fruit Juices” states: “Oxalic acid readily combines with calcium. If these are both organic (uncooked/unprocessed), the result is a beneficial constructive combination, as the former helps the digestive assimilation of the later, at the same time stimulating the peristalitic functions of the body (which is what oxalic acid is important for). When the oxalic acid has become inorganic by cooking or processing the foods that contain it, then this acid forms an interlocking compound with the calcium even combining with the calcium in other foods eaten during the same meal, destroying the nourishing value of both. This results in such a serious deficiency of calcium that it has been known to cause decomposition of the bones. This is the reason I never eat cooked or canned spinach. As to the oxalic acid itself, when converted into an inorganic acid by cooking or processing the food, it often results in causing inorganic oxalic acid crystals to form in the kidneys.” “We have already, in previous chapters, covered this important question of organic versus inorganic atoms in our food. It is very vital to stress this matter in regard to oxalic acid. When the food is raw, whether whole or in the form of juice, every atom in such food is vital ORGANIC and is replete with enzymes. Therefore, the oxalic acid in our raw vegetables and their juices is organic, and as such is not only beneficial, but essential for the physiological functions of the body. The oxalic acid in cooked and processed foods, however, is definitely dead, or INORGANIC and as such is both pernicious and destructive. Oxalic acid readily combines with calcium. If these are both organic, the result is a beneficial constructive combination, as the former helps the digestive assimilation of the latter, at the same time, stimulating the peristaltic functions in the body.”
Not Alan obviously but knowing him, he would probably tell you as much as you want without significantly displacing other food groups. So increasing cruciferous vegetables is good as long as you're not say decreasing legumes or starches as a consequence.
Think this post is maybe what you refer. Natural Hygiene was taught by Natives to USA medical people & those teachings remained the law of the land up until the late 1800's when big pharma began to take over making Natural Hygiene unjustly obsolete until early 1900's when Herbert M. Shelton re-founded the orthopaedic practice at his health sanatoriums & by the 1950's he ran for potus, but big oil land grabs & big pharma swindles had a monopoly by then, also it was further corrupted by the liquor industry that had spiraled out of control as a drug of choice ever since the 1930's. So it is way past time to make Natural Hygiene a part of our daily lives again, as the once sober apple cart was upset too many times over the years by oppressive governmental inebriated addicts who have been increasingly abusing a once sound medical practice here in America for far too long. Here is my take on needed improvements for those who have yet them or even considered changing these corrupt current laws yet. Back around the 70's reagan began shutting down state hospitals to save taxes for the rich resulting in an ever increasing spiral of homeless street people & overcrowded prisons. Reagan was inebriated on his bubbly. That points to another mess up that occurred back in the 30's when they made alcohol their drug of choice as legal recreation & criminalized other intoxicants. Past time for a resolution to both these gross errors. 1- make all drugs & alcohol legal medically with supervision. 2-drug & alcohol test all law enforcement, politicians, educators & gun owners at their own expense, never as illegal recreation in use currently. Until those insane obsolete laws, rules & regulations are changed with appropriate resolutions the errors of the past will continue to escalate.
The blue zones are only one source of information about aging among many. From the studies I have seen it seems whole grains are even better than beans, especially for men. According to some studies women do better on beans that on grains.
Blue zones have been debunked. They were surveyed during famine times. Once the famines were over, people went right back to eating the fish, pork, etc that's normally available in their regions
Quitting cold turkey works for some and makes others double down on never attempting to quit again. You may find it easier to gradually decrease sodium, say 100 mg less a day. If that is easy, you can decrease some more until you reach your preferred goal. Like Alan said, it takes up to a month for your palate to readjust to low sodium taste. Potassium salt can give you a similar taste without sodium as well.
Agree. Here in the US many bikes and cars have the metric system measurements. For us, its understood and simple. A cheap food scale is accurate and easy to use
Millions of carnivores thriving on animal based diet with NO supplements. Try to survive on plant based with no supplements, that should be a huge clue.
BS many carnivores live in areas with little sunshine and then must take vitamin D. Animals do not make B12, it's in the dirt if cows or outside the get the B12 via the bacteria in the dirt.
@artwillvideos The Kenyans win most marathons and they eat 80 percent starch. I just googled winners of marathons keto, and nothing came up. And i assumed if there was a keto marathon winner, the keto community would point it out.
I love the positive energy that Julieanna brought to this discussion! ❤
Thank you so much ❤

These 2 complement each other. Thank you for a great video !!!
The western Native Americans called squash, corn, and beans the "three sisters." They grow well together, and are versatile, and tasty
Dr Goldhammer you're my hero!!!
Keep fighting the good fight and keep schooling those young bloods the basketball court!😉
Great Information!

Ya. I reduce kim chi (salt) in my rice meal if i want to reduce weight.
How much cruciferous vegetables (in pounds) would you recommend per day?
Not Alan obviously but knowing him, he would probably tell you as much as you want without significantly displacing other food groups. So increasing cruciferous vegetables is good as long as you're not say decreasing legumes or starches as a consequence.

Dealcolized wine is great choice for the wine lovers. Drink Wine without any alcohol.
Enjoy the sugar high.
Nuts, seeds, avocados ok in moderation, right?
They should absolutely be a part of your diet, preferably with every meal. Don't fear healthy fats.
The blue zones are only one source of information about aging among many. From the studies I have seen it seems whole grains are even better than beans, especially for men. According to some studies women do better on beans that on grains.
I see that with my clients, too!
Blue zones have been debunked. They were surveyed during famine times. Once the famines were over, people went right back to eating the fish, pork, etc that's normally available in their regions
I am plant based with some exception of ghee and lactose free kefir!!
She's 49????
🥰
Yep, and he's 65!
That is one _HELL_ of a disclaimer.
It's the salt that kills me. I just can't quit it.
Sslt is necessary for many body processes
And iodized salt not too much

Squash(es).....is that regional. I thought it was squash even if it's plural.
Just saying that PB is optimal diet is not science. People need to look at basic definition. Please cN we have a decent conversation about science
Check out the China Study. Or other clinical research l. If U really wish to know.
Also Dr Gil I think how videos are under Nutrition Made Simple. He is an MD and encourages people to fact check him, he doesn't preach. U will enjoy.
I wish you wouldn’t talk in cups. It means nothing to people outside of America. Please tell us how many ounces of legumes we should eat each day.
A standard sized cup is 8 ounces, so pour the beans in that size cup, and that is 1 cup
No legumes. They are never digested no matter how long you pressure cook them.
You go from cups to ounces 😊 The rest of the world runs on metric :)
We don't understand meters or centimeters either, we always have to convert to inches and feet in USA. 😂

Excess fat is made by carbs. Eating fat from butter, tallow, and lamb fat makes us slim. Triglycerides are caused by carbs.
No one has won a marathon on keto. Keto is low energy.
Got any study links you can share that show what you say is true?
@artwillvideos The Kenyans win most marathons and they eat 80 percent starch. I just googled winners of marathons keto, and nothing came up. And i assumed if there was a keto marathon winner, the keto community would point it out.
Wrong.
@@davidclark2592 Yes. The liver can only prouce about 1250 calories worth of ketones per day. That's why keto-tards are so sedentary.
Yucky
