    As of September 1st I’ll have been following Dr Barnard’s plant based vegan eating plan for 10 years. I was privileged to meet Dr Barnard in DC, he is an extremely kind, soft spoken, knowledgeable doctor.

    I just finished your book, I read it in one day. The recipes are inspiring. I'm so excited to try all of them. I made the pancakes with blueberry syrup, this morning. I have been vegan for only 2 months, I'm already down 10lbs. Thank you for the reality check, I feel so much healthier.

    When I was in nursing school (50 years ago) I had an instructor who told told me your body has all the chemicals and other things it needs to heal itself. Listening to you talk about GLP-1 I guess she was right. I’ve been WFPB going on one year now. I’ve lost 25 pounds and all my numbers are going in the right direction. Thank you Dr Barnard.

    I eat blueberries pretty close to everyday and have cinnamon in a spice mix pretty close to that. I eat unsweetened vegan yogurt with the berries and pumpkin pie spice on the top with some flax. Such a nourishing light meal or snack!

    Definitely true for me about olive oil increasing LDL. Twice I added olive oil to my diet (no replacement) to meet higher caloric demands from returning to the gym after some time off. Both times it raised my LDL from around 90 to about 120 mg/dL.

      Why are you scared of LDL?

    • @jakubchrobry3701
      @jakubchrobry3701 5 місяців тому

      @@polibm6510 I not scared of LDL. It is needed in our body. But too much of it increases the risk of atherosclerosis. The evidence for this is vast and has not been overturned. Mendelian randomized studies is the best evidence for this. Why do you believe a bunch of keto YT influencers that typically have a background chiropractic alternative medicine (pseudoscience)?
      Why don't you understand that you can have too little or too much of something, like vitamins. Vitamin A is essential, but too much of it is toxic. If you are going to troll a plant-based channel, you better bring the goods. Please provide some evidence that high levels of LDL over decades can not cause atherosclerosis or does not contribute to atherosclerosis. Joe Rogan said so is not evidence. Or admit it increases the risk.

      @jakubchrobry3701 5 місяців тому +1

      @@polibm6510 Scared? I consume olive oil to boost my LDL to 120 mg/dL. What do you eat to increase your LDL? How high have you gotten it to? 400 mg/dL? I see fans of a chiropractor (can't remember his name) brag about getting their LDL as high as possible on a keto diet. Some over 600. Unfortunately, a lot of satuated fat from lard and tallow gives me indigestion, so I have to settle for olive oil and only 120 mg/dL.

    • @polibm6510
      @polibm6510 5 місяців тому +1

      @@jakubchrobry3701 I don't care about my LDL. Why I should? And btw: olive oil is not polyunsaturated, but still monounsaturated... Try a butter.

    • @jakubchrobry3701
      @jakubchrobry3701 5 місяців тому

      @@polibm6510 I never claimed that olive oil contains much polyunsaturated fat. Btw, it's 10.5% by weight. You seem to be making a lot of assumptions about me. I'm scared. How much PUFA's I believe are in olive oil. You got any more assumptions?
      Also, butter is 51.4% saturated fat by weight. As I already said, saturated fat gives me indigestion, that especially includes butter which makes me sick to my stomach.

    If I'm out and really hungry, I go to Taco Bell and get a bean burrito, no cheese, add lettuce and tomato. Very filling, not ideal, but gets the job done, and I stay Vegan.

    When people talk about protein I switch the language to Amino Acids. You need to get enough of the 11 Amino Acids and those can be found in abundance in Fruits and Vegetables.

    Sooo……. I lost and have maintained 115 lbs on a high fat and moderate protein diet. I cut all processed foods, including sugars and flours. Cholesterol, A1C, blood lipids, etc… are well within the optimal range. I guess… just remember there are many roads to health.
    Also, Olive Oil, Avocado and nuts are a daily trifecta of mine. Again cholesterol is optimal.
