I appreciate this review so much! I do pyrography (wood burning) and am wanting to get into hot foil and was wondering if I could just use the tool I already have for hot foil. You have shown me that I can. I was also still on the fence about maybe buying another tool since I want to be doing this in vanlife and I am fascinated by these tools being USB powered.
What is the screw size for the tips? I’m thinking it might be able to fit one of those soldering iron wood burning tools, perhaps with an adapter to match the diameters.
Interesting video, thank you for doing the comparison Lou. The Gentleman Crafter did a trial of the WR Memory Keepers Foil Pen with the Scan n Cut and it gave good results. I've recently been given a Glimmer Hot Foil machine (for my birthday) and the tutorials for it say about differing results on different card types, so I definitely think the cardstock comes into play with foil.

Looks like paper mania is the winner. Better pen and better foil. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the great video Lou. I have really struggled to get a good result with my MK foiling quill, but I'll try again now I've seen your results 😊

Thanks for the feedback Linda
I love watching your videos, Lou, they’re always so informative and creative. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
Glad you like them!
I found a WRMK foil quill and I get the same results. Have to move VERY slowly with it
It looked like you had the circle die on top of the foil for the first one and under the foil for the second one. Great video.
On the back of this video I bought the paper mania hot foil pen. It works perfectly
so glad the video was helpful and that you're enjoying the hot foil pen :)
That was very interesting. 😊
Great comparison trial xx
Thanks!
Thanks for the tips
Will it work on leather you think?
What happens if you go over the same bit of foil twice?
You'd need to compare the foils itself using ONE foiling pen to test it out. I know few foil sheets are a bit of hit and miss.
I thought it could be the thickness of the foil but I find in general usbs don't give the same power as a socket
Would it be the foil
Maybe the foil quill had problems because you didn't uncoil the cable haha
