Sono dal Brasile ma parlo l'inglese. Mi piaciono i tuoi video ma vorrei chiedere alcuni video 100% in Italiano per praticare meglio l'ascolto. Principalmente questi video: advanced Italian.
This congiuntivo trapasso tense...or mood is easier than the others because it shows something that happened in the past before something else in the past. I wish I had known LAST WEEK that you were coming YESTERDAY. So to me this makes it easier.
@ Ciao, Tom! Great to have your response! Are you still making tutorial videos recently? If yes, where can I find them? Please let me know. I would like to follow and share with friends too. Grazie! Sempre avanti! :)

Hey Tom!!I want to thank you for your awesome video teachings and within a month I have been to know about the major Italian grammatical rules through watching you all Basic videos and Advanced italian videos too!!
Ciao tom! Imparo l’italiano a scuola e Il mio Italiano e non perfetto, ma i tuoi videos mi aiutano tanti! Se dovresti fare un video sul passato remoto, sarebbe molto utile per me. Grazie!

Grazie mille! Scrivi bene l'italiano! Cercherò di fare un video sul passato remoto :)
I have no problem conjugating the congiuntivo in all its forms or using it correctly when writing. My problem happens when I am SPEAKING and the word "would" comes into my head. Sometimes I use the conditional when the congiuntivo is the proper tense. You said in the video that the "idea" is what is important but do you have any tricks that help you to use the proper tense when the english word "would" is i your head? :-) (ps- love your videos!)
thanks for your great videos . Could you help me about "helping verbs" . Why " partire " use " essere " , and " chiamare" use " avere" as their helping verb. any rules ? or it just remember naturally, If it's just a remember, can you give me a list of it or any video related to it . Thanks so much again

+nguyen phuoc Thanks! It has to do with whether a verb is transitive or intransitive. You can find lists online of verbs that use essere (not as many as those that use avere) so it does come down to memorization in the end ;)
Per la precisione direi "L'avresti saputo se ti avessero chiamato", perchè il verbo "sapere" richiede quasi sempre un complemento oggetto, a meno che non si riferisca a qualcosa di molto vago (ad es. "devo sapere!" quando non sai neanche bene a cosa ti riferisci). In questo caso "L'" che sta per "Lo" è la preposizione che assume il ruolo di complemento oggetto
Hi Tom. Quick question. How would you say 'I thought that they were sleeping'? I can't seem to see how the gerundio fits in. I think it's 'pensavo che loro fossero dorm... then I get stuck. Or I could be totally wrong! Please advise. Lee

+Lee Squires Hey Lee! Yeah you're close. You'd say "Pensavo che stessero dormendo"
I'm technically a 3rd year (really only studied for a year) Italian student but i still barely know the congiuntivo...do Italians really use it? what about the passato remoto?
we use the congiuntivo in all its forms more than the passato remoto. in southern italy, the passato remoto is more used. so try to learn them both, but the congiuntivo is more important
+MessedUpGaming You bet they use congiuntivo! They are absolute snobs about it! They will also know in an instant whether you're italian or not, depending how well you use it (meaning if you have the accent thing down). And if you're Italian, they will judge you just a little bit if you mess it up. They take their congiuntino very very seriously ;)
+Carina Conte that ain't 100% true. we as italians judge other italians who can't use the congiuntivo, considering them as "ignorants". but we will never judge a foreigner if he can't use the congiuntivo. we can't use it neither!
This man is the bees' knees when it comes to teaching Italian. So enthusiastic and breaks everything down to a basic level. Tom is a legend!!!!
Finally congiuntivo's true power is revealed. The fourth and final form. Its energy levels are off the charts.
YOU ARE THE BEST TEACHER FOR ITALIAN LANGUAGE. PLEASE DO NOT STOP TO TEACH US! :)

next up: passato remoto?

Weilà Tom ah I thought I was struggling with it for a reason. I've never seen such a phrase in any of my courses or videos! Thank you very much :-)
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 Tom you are more than much thx
The translation in English seems a lot like the past imperfect tense. (Used to)
weilà è napoletano, no? Comunque, Tom grazie per averci insegnato tutto
+Brian DiCapetti È abbastanza generico, lo puoi usare ovunque (in ambito informale ovviamente)
"Wè" è napoletano, weilà è più del nord

+Manuel Palumbo In fact, I said the exact thing: if you are Italian and cannot use it properly, you will be judged.
+Carina Conte sorry i didn't get that
Tom, Andro in Puglia e voglio sapere se gli italiani parlino un dialetto? Veramente spero che loro mi capino.
*mi capiscano
They have their own dialect like everywhere in Italy but you will be fine even when talking to locals.
Tu parli molto bene.....
