    The easiest way is to live in Italy and live with a native speaker. It's so difficult when you're in another country and have to rely on learning from books, films and maybe some lessons, but are not fuly immersed in the language in everyday life and don't have a native speaker to help you.

    I started learning Italian after my first visit to Italy, twenty years ago, in my mid-60s. I had previously learned Indonesian in a residential immersive course in Java. It was here that I woke up to 'pure' vowel sounds, the same as in Italian. These are not normal for us Australians but, to me, using them is of key importance. In the 2000s I used to travel to Melbourne weekly for intensive classes at the Centre for IItalian Studies in Carlton. As my hearing isn't good after a head injury, I don't easily decode what is said to me, so Italian conversation isn't easy. But reading in Italian is a good, if partial, compensation. That's why: vostri sottotitoli stanno importanti. Ciao.

I visited Italia in 2018 and intend to return next year. I really like what you two say - I have been searching for how I can get better.

I've re-started learning about 4 months ago through Duolingo, some old books that I have ie. Buongiorno Italia(1980's). I really enjoy reading in Italian out loud, but sadly most of it I don't understand, or there words and phrases that I know and me brain just freezes up. Okay, I gave up today trying to write this in Italian after an hour. I admit it - I did not persevere.
    I am trying to learn Italian just for curiosity's sake. I like to see how language changed over time and place from Greece through Italy and France, even Germany, to England.
    Though I live in New York and it is filled with Italians, I don't know one who speaks Italian to practice with, so I watch your videos, try to read along as you speak (hard as I try, I still cannot understand at all without reading along and often pausing) and I do "study" from books, because that's all I can do. I wish I could immerse with Italian speakers. But I do not think my ragazza of 30 plus years would approve of my moving to Italy (not that they would let me). Anyway, don't get mad at me, but I think I am too old (61) to learn a new language easily, even if I could immerse myself in it. I'm sure some people can do it, but not me. Still look forward to the videos every Sunday.

    • @aslkhjbasijt785
      @aslkhjbasijt785 2 роки тому

      @@moira7083 Thank you for your kind words, Moira. I can read what you wrote relatively easily, but I would not have been able to compose them in Italian, if at all, in less than a few hours myself - that's why I am writing this in English - even after 2 years studying. But, I do persevere. I work at it almost every day for a while (not enough, I'm sure). But, some people age differently than others and while I congratulate you on your prowess, I first started really learning languages as an adult in my late 40s and immediately I could tell I did not have the same capacity as when I was young. I was a terrible student in high school, but even still it is usually easier for me to read French 40+ years later than to read Italian. I do wish I could find a one on one Italian teacher, but it is also expensive to hire a tutor and this is really only a hobby - better I spend it on the grandkids. I know many Italian-Americans in NY, but they don't speak Italian (and mispronounce all the foods in what they think is Italian).
      Fortunately, there are no tests on Easy Italian, or it would be really depressing. Thanks again. Always nice to hear from someone my age who loves learning.
