I was born deaf from one ear. I never experienced what it is to ear from two ears. But last Christmas my uncle offered me this kind of headphones. I tried them when i was alone, put on my favorite song and i cried. It was a whole new world for me.. Bless my uncle for that beautiful gift

I work in a really loud environment (data center) where hearing protection like ear plugs are required. The difference in sound quality when the ear plugs are in is like night and day. That is why they included them in the box. There is a HUGE market for these for anyone that works on loud areas, practically everyone I work with owns a pair. You should try them with the ear plugs in.
What exactly do you mean? Like having the ear plugs in make them sound better or worse?
Obviously better, use them context clues little buddy.
@@dumduq no need to be harsh
@@dumduq depends. Plugging your ears leaves just the bone conduction (in reality those still emit quite a bit of sound through the air, and when your ears are plugged - well...) and it certainly adds A LOT of volume and bass, but the sound becomes muffled, very much so. So I'd say that I enjoy listening to music with my ears open when it's possible.
Tech Company: *Adds magnets to their product*
Lew: They are up to something
They currently do have a magnetic attached transfer unit..I just looked it up, it's called BAHA. Is different than cochlear implant in that it uses bone conduction to transfer sound signals to an implanted titanium plate.
Headphones that even the Grim Reaper could use

I have a pair and if I had to use one word to describe it’d be, “freedom.” I like the ability to listen to music while I workout, work in the office, and do other things while still hearing my surroundings. It’s like having a soundtrack for life. These are the only headphones allowed in many marathons due to the wearer still being able to hear race officials. Bass is lacking but the sound quality is great. These weren’t made with deep bass immersion in mind. the design language was to open you up to the world. Imagine, it’s like listening to a UA-cam video or some background music on a Bluetooth speaker, the only difference is that others around you can’t hear what you’re listening to.
Also, he doesn’t mention it here, but people with outer and middle ear hearing impairment will be able to hear these as the vibrations bypass and go directly to your inner ear and vibrates the cochlea. Best way to describe is like the sound is inside your head.
The mind blowing part is if you put the included earplugs in (maybe for listening to music in environments that require hearing protection, or maybe for temporary isolation) that’s when your mind really gets blown. Bass thumps and they sound like regular headphones/earbuds. But your ears are plugged!
Wasn’t sure they were going to be worth the $160 but I can say I’m super happy with them!
Very interesting. Thank you very much. May I ask you if there are any counter indications? Are they safe to use long-term?
What about the sound bleed though, can other people here what you are listening to? I dont like it when I hear other people's songs at the gym so I'd hate it if I was blasting tunes and annoying the people beside me while working out.
Daniel Felipe not sure.. I mean maybe the same issues if you’re blasting them too loud like any other headphones.
roslolian11 it’s minimal (you start hearing brass instruments around 50%) and like he said only when you turn them up pretty loud. The only thing with in the gym is if the gym’s playing their music over their speakers you’ll have to fight to hear the Aeropex, but if their music isn’t too loud then it’s fine. I like them when in the gym only because I lift with a buddy and hate pulling out my headphones all the time and asking him “huh? What’d you say?” If you’re solo or running on the treadmill I’d recommend regular headphones.
@@roslolian11 only sound bleed when really loud. I wear them at the office and almost everywhere without a problem
When will they just install a 2mm jack into my skull so i can just stream music directly to my brain?

Plot twist: it'd just be like a song that's stuck in your head 😂
@@cjmoore1231 Correct, you wouldn't adjust volume even if you wanted to and it'd be in the way of your thinking. Probably more of a curse than an gift.
As a hearing impaired person, I think this product is great: 1) you do not have to push the volume up to a level where everybody around you know what you are listening to before you do; 2) you can hear all of the music frequencies. (depending on why you are impaired)
I hope you guys will think a bit more outside of the box when you review a product like this / and the manufacturer should also review its marketing strategy: there are a lot of hearing impaired people that would love something like this, especially if it works with the live-mic function of a phone....
Thanks for showing up the product!

Hell yeah, kinda wish they came with a microphone because they work better than the crappy hearing aids the Veterans Administration gives me.
Thank you for speaking for us, I've struggled with it for ages that I never listen to music outside the house
Exactly, he clearly had no idea about the benefit of bone conducting earphones for people with certain types of deafness. I am completely deaf in my left ear because a tiny bone grew across my ear canal, I'm hoping this type of earphone will allow me to hear with that ear so I can hear in stereo while gaming.

Put your fingers in your ears, the sound is amazing! I use these when I’m working around super loud machinery. I wear the ear plugs with them. Great sound!and I protect my hearing.
Also, the company is amazing and they honor their replacement guarantee. Love them
You're not lying about their great replacement policy. I had bought the Treks Titanium around the time they first came out and had accidentally damaged one of the conducting speakers. I filed for replacement inside the warranty window and had new ones within 2 weeks.
Yes! Me too. The bass is amazing with ear plugs in your ear
@@TheLegendaryTOC I had the exact same experience. They were awesome about replacing.
Hey, have you tried sleeping with them? Would they be good for side sleepers?
@@VedantShetty They wouldn't work for side sleeping. You'd have to lay on them on that side which would likely uncomfortably press them into your head and make them loud on that side.
I have napped on my back with them, but that's tricky too. You have to sort of put them on backwards so that the backstrap hangs under your chin instead of behind your neck. That actually works ok.
I own their titanium and air models. I have very bad hearing loss in my right ear. These bone conduction headsets are the only way I can enjoy music at a level that i used to before hearing loss. With normal headphones one ear will always sound significantly louder for me and its not a good experience. Love aftershockz for continuing to improve this technology over the years.
My wallet is lighter than those bone conducting earphones.

These are a great option for lots of us that work in a factory that doesn't allow in ear buds for safety reasons. I have the older version but still works great.
as someone that owns the TREKZ model from this company, I can say that the best possible experience I've had with them is in regards to mood augmenting music, where you would typically want the full sound blocking shroud headphones but cannot have those.
for example, I will play some binaural beat tracks at work when I need to be able to hear the desk phone ring and such, and my whole environment comes in while I still can hear and FEEL the frequency music full dive.
so for passive listening, these are PERFECT. Best option to replace a dull ambiance whenever possible... also, the battery life is AWESOME.
What I love about mine is that since I don’t have a fully developed external ear, I can hear stereo instead of mono now. The internal ear is developed there is just no hole for the regular headphones. So They really help me
So glad Lew is reviewing these updated Aftershokz. He got me into these bone conducting headphones with that original red plastic headset video :) ♥️
I lost all hearing in my left ear about four years ago. The entire Middle ear was removed last year in a radical mastoidectomy procedure.
I JUST found out about this type of device yesterday and I nearly cried. For the first time in over 5 years I was able to hear again.
This type of device needs to be marketed one Hell of a lot more than it is.
Even as a simple six for a short duration. This is something more people should know about
So how well did it work? My brother (45 is a bit deaf from various issues when he was a kid ) but we he has them all full load se we can hear what he's playing, he cant hear us and we are worried he's going to lose what hearing he has left. I believe that there is one more good reason for the bone conduction. There are people, like me, that have a huge problem using the regular - in the ear - versions. I tried every single format, none was able to fit comfortably, or at all sometimes , in my ears. Ok, so my ears are not normal or something. But I've talked with other people with the same problem. Sure the regular bigger around the hear headphones work, but not the more practical in the ear ones. Bone conduction freed me - and others - from walking on the street listening to our music wearing this big headphones covering our ears. That's good in my book :)
I'm with you on this. Regular ear buds either fall out constantly or they hurt my ears. The over the ear ones make me get hot at work. These fix all that for me.
I feel so understood here :'D
I have never known anyone else who had issues with plug headphones. Its great to know that I am not crazy and there are people out there just like me.
I found out about these headphones today, and now I can't wait to get them
Sensitive Earclub Unite!
The only in-ear headphones that work for me are the original Apple wired ones...but I don't own anymore Apple products Everything else I have tried hurts my ears, and just falls out. I am really hoping these will work for me.
I'm just tired of getting ear infections from earbuds
I love these. They work really well for my work outs. I can listen to music and listen to my coach at the same time. I have also had success using them in the sauna. I had the previous model and the aeropex are worth the money.
Your unboxings are wonderful! Thank you :)
These things are amazing...I love not getting ear fatigue with these
What’s ear fatigue?
Gotta say, I'm glad I watched this. It answers what I really wanted to know... the actual sound quality... without me having to gamble a significant chunk of change on them.
Lou's always like a little kid with magnets.
It's like every time is his very first time playing with magnets !
The magic just never ends. Lol
I absolutely love mine. I wish I would've waited to buy them as ones with a longer battery life came out days after I bought them, but they are great. I work in a loud factory. These allow me to not only listen to my music most of the day, I can do so while also hearing the machines and forklifts around me.

I got this . Had them for about a week now . I use them all day everyday at work listening to podcasts. The sound clarity over My old bluez 2s are incredible but I do miss the massive sound thumping bass vibration of the older version . I also bought the power beats pro in the same week and I prefer these over any ear buds. I even use these for watching movies . The sound just feels more natural coming from within my head without the ear fatigue of my powet beats pro . If they could improve these to have the thumping bass vibration with the sound clarity of these then I'd be really happy . But I freaking love these the way they are at the moment.
Is it still working now?
Helpful, thanks. Basically was looking for how they compare to in-ear/over-ear headphones. Has it's place for sure
To me it’s the best design we have on a market so far
This is actually some really interesting tech to me. I'm not a big fan of the isolating earbuds which have become the norm these days because I need to be able to hear stuff around me at work, plus I have never found a pair which actually fit comfortably for me. So I've been stuck using old-school earbuds attached to a bluetooth transmitter in order to listen to music. It works but it's kind of a clunky solution. I finally got myself a cheap set of bone conducting headphones just to try them out and at first testings they product pretty much the same sort of sound profile I'm used to from my non-isolating earbuds. Which is to say: good highs and mids, not so much on bass.
What's cool about these is that if you stuff some earplugs in your ears (the ones I got actually came with some) while using them, the sound they produce changes DRASTICALLY. You get tons of low end and a very full-bodied sound because it contains all the vibrations into your ear canal. So I might have some double-use headphones now because I DO like to wear isolating headphones while I'm outside doing stuff like weed-eating and what not in the summer time.
Would definitely be interested to try a more high-end version of these once this cheap set eventually fails.
Thanks so much for reviewing these. I have owned the treks titanium and treks air. I was looking into their new pair and this helps a lot. Thanks for the true review.
I have used these for about 1 month now and I LOVE them
Put in the earplugs. Your missing out on a HUGE part of the experience.
Hi U.T, I have been testing their previous version for months and I must say these are the best all rounder headphone you can buy. They are perfect for all day every day every scenario use. I can wear these through my office and in the workshop and happily listen to my music while communicating with people around me. I'm never cut off and always locked in to my music.
I'd put these on in the morning, go about my work day, be in meetings, workshop office desk and be happy in all environments. Keep then on while I play basketball and gym and I'm always aware of what's going on around me.
Perfect product. People need to try this, you wont regret it
so Im guessing it like what coffee is to 'coke'; you can still get your high, but function normally
Lew, thanks for all you do! Hey a couple of things. On the Aeropex, if you hold the 2 volume buttons simultaneously for a couple of seconds, you will hear "Equalizer" and IMMEDIATELY you will hear and feel more bass (or less). It's not a lot of adjustment, but definitely a difference. I am not sure which mode you were in when you were listening. In reality I like most music on the bass boosted level, but a lot of Funk, R & B, or anything with heavy out-front bass actually makes the headset vibrate and feels to strange for me.. maybe I will get used to it.
If you put the foam "ear plugs" in (or any other ear plugs) , it changes the sound to a completely different level. Great for Airline travel!
I do work in Warehouses on occasion and the Aeropex allow me to work and listen to whatever. OSHA regulations have a lot to say about anything that plugs or covers your ears as getting crushed by a forklift could ruin your weekend, but since these do not hinder my hearing, they are perfectly legit.
The IP rating is also great for working out/ running.. or working in a hot nasty Warehouse!
Keep up the great work!
I have the first version. Still work and sound great. The low end and high end are great. Pretty good for an audiophile. But it’s no full speaker set up with a subwoofer and tweeters.
You really ought to try them with the ear plugs in ...the sound becomes much “bigger” they are great for people who need to wear safety ear plugs for work and still want to listen to music .....or travelling on a plane.
I use these at work every day. It's nice to be able to work with customers and be able to listen to some music. I have really enjoyed them! Also, there was a customer who was hard of hearing, I let him try mine on because he was curious, and he was so surprised how well he could hear the music!
I use the previous model to listen music and podcast while I’m in the office, being able to hear the phone ringing is a must and this work great for me.
For someone like myself, where we have to wear earplugs (mandatory) at work, these would be awesome. I wish you would have tried them with the ear plugs so you could give us your evaluation of that scenario.

I have had four AfterShokz - latest is the Aeropex. Reason I've had four is I keep giving them away to friends. I wear them from about 6:00 am until about 10:00 pm - awesome battery life. Yeah - sound isn't perfect but they sound excellent to me. Comfortable as not wearing them at all. Good job!
I have a lot of headphones and earbuds, Sony, Bose, Jabra.. etc. I work in a secured forensic lab and this is great to hear when someone is knocking on the door or I have to engage in conversation right away. Love it
Aftershocks is a great company! I have loved all their products
I use these for audio books at work, and for that they are amazing. And music is still very crisp most of the time but does lack in Bass. But these headphones are the best you'll ever get for awareness of your surrounding's paired with good audio.

Fantastic product! Been using the Aftershockz Titanium for three years now myself. Recently broke them when I throw a heavy bag on them. Managed to glue it together but expecting to get a replacement (they're nowadays called only Shokz btw) pair, one of the newer models.
The sound quality isn't quite as Hi-Fi as toy might expect, so there's that, but for me the main selling point on these is the noisy work environment where I'm having to use hearing protection. Now I could use some active noise cancellation ones (I actually had Sony's cups before there until they forced us to wear big helmets and the model wasn't viable since then) but the hearing protection on them isn't foolproof as our company won't cover the costs if you experience hearing loss after using not supported type of hearing protection. So for me these are a godsent as I can wear my regular molded plugs and then these on top. And the helmet doesn't get in the way.
There were actually two other models between these and the ones from the first video (the bluez 2s). They were the Trekz Titanium and the Trekz Air. I bought me a set of the bluez 2s after watching the unbox therapy and they were great for my job as a night stocker, but after 6 months of HEAVY use the adhesive for the rubber began to peel. I then bought me the next one up, the Trekz Titanium. That was about 2 - 3 years ago and I wear them almost every day and hardly ever take them off. In fact, if I leave the house without them I feel like I am missing something, akin to if I forgot my glasses. I have to recommend any of the versions as they are fantastic. I might even get these new Aeropex because they seem even more comfortable than the ones I currently have, which I sometimes forget that I am wearing (they're that invisible). I definitely recommend.
Yo! Have you bought aeropex? Have them for 2 years now, after Air. They are waaaay better.

Listening to this video on my Aftershox Trekz Titanium, which have been my main headphones the last couple years. Sound quality is admittedly not for audiophiles, mainly poor bass. But it's about the use case. Great for workouts. Also good for the office when you want to listen to Lew but not completely shut out your coworkers. Or if you just don't like sticking earbuds in your ears. I wear mine all the time and don't go back to headphones unless I really want to get into my music.
Was just looking at Aeropex a couple days ago. Magnetic charge connector looks like an awesome upgrade. My Titaniums are still good. But when I need to replace them, I'll get these, no question.

I bought these. They are nice but if you increase volume level to around 70% you will feel that weird tingling sensation which can be distracting. I think if I can adjust the fit so they will rest forward like 1inch/2cm away from the ear and more on the bony part, it will be much better. I sent a question to AfterShokz asking them if I can adjust the fit myself by bending the arch around the ear. Unfortunately, they did not respond.
But, these are simply the most comfortable headset I ever used. I don't tolerate in ear earbuds for prolonged use. But I can wear these for the whole day and I forget that I am wearing them. They are also safe while driving because your ears will be open to hear everything.
I hope in the future they can use USB Type-C charging port. I understand the physical/technical and waterproofing limitations but I believe they can do it.
They just need to continue improving their products and I believe in few years they can get everything just right.
Moral of the story, I did not regret buying these.
