I have had zero problems with heavies preventing my fluid bed from working. We have heavies, I'm up north by the iron mines so no shortage of black sands. Disagree 100% with the thought that the heavies are building around the water holes in the PVC preventing stratification.
Mate That was the best explanation of Fluid Bed on You Tube. I am Australian. I have a Bazooka and the exact problem you spoke of has been bugging me since having it. I will now modify it to have the side flutes like the Recon. I would love to have a Recon but USD to AUD makes it to much. Thanks
Thank you for making these videos, I've been binging them this week. I'm prospecting with a probably too heavy frame pack here in Denver, CO and packing gear in/out 3 miles and this fluid bed sluice looks like it would give me better cons to bring home faster after seeing flawed models on other channels. I would love to hear more about your overall pack loadout and weight as well!
Just ordered the Recon and leg kit. Hoping the leg kit will speed up reset time? Mainly hoping this will capture Sulfides? End goal is roasting and smelting for Ag, Au is just bonus. Ty
Yes, it will increase your reset time tremendously. The one thing is to get used to setting it up correctly and having the flow rate set correctly when you cascade material into it, it should clear the shoot and grizzly panel almost immediately.
I think it all depends on the water conditions. If I have enough water and the flow, I love my fluid bed, Grizzly Bear Trap sluice. But is does need a lot of water.
Hey, I'm liking your vids.... and I've watched thousands of them on prospecting. Looking to buy my first fluid bed. Is there any way to capture tailings to check your losses? And have you ever done this? Keep up the great vids.
Yes I’ve done it. With any system it has to do with the material your running . More heavies and magnetics I clean out more often. Even with a traditional sluice . The losses are minimal compared to what your gaining. Not all fluid bed sluices are equal. Many once the box is loaded stops stratification and that’s when gold loss happens. Keven Bell design of the recon and expedition sluice are second to none . They don’t encounter the issues other do.
Thanks for the quick reply. I do like the Recon and the larger model. Trying to decide between the two. Either way, I see having to do a quick dump about every 15 mins. No problem. I want to run it in the Arkansas river here in southern Colorado. Keep up the informative vids. Appreciate 'em. Do you get paid for supporting SRP's products? @@RemOutdoors
No I do not get paid for supporting them. Kevin Bell is the man who owned and designed the racon and expedition sluice. Due to medical reasons he sold the patents to SRP. I have talked with Mr bell at length and i do not even explain half of what his designs do. @@nx35bk2
Do you have an affiliate link or code for Snake River Products? I picked up one of their Recon Sluices this afternoon and referenced you in the order after watching this and a half dozen of your field videos because it looks like a perfect fit for the sections of the South Platte and Clear Creek where I'm prospecting when it's this cold.
I do not but that’s 👍 no worries at all. Thank you for the thoughts ! I am good in my life. I made my channel because of my little sister. Years ago when she was 12 she was in a accident leaving her paralyzed from the neck down. So I started filming my adventures and posting them for her, it just kind of because what it is now haha. Thank you brother and heavy pans
I will smash my record if I feed that thing all day without classifying. I want something I can run for 30 minutes at a time without doing a cleanup though.
You know exactly where I'm talking about. I don't care if my capture rate suffers if I can run material through it much faster. I bet the fluidized chamber would hold on to the gold longer than you think. I'd be ok with 30 percent loss because I'll run material 3 times faster.@@RemOutdoors

Great explanation. I never knew those design elements mattered in a fluid bed sluice. I'm definitely interested in trying one out now.
Glad it was helpful!

I will do that next video !
Great video man learned alot from it! Thanks!

Thank you for your Video
Thank you for watching !
Just came across this video, funny I have the adventure and the 6x24. If my wife listened to me last month should be getting the recon for Christmas.
Great info fam. Cool setups indeed. Keep on having fun getting that Au and living the dream. Gold Squad Out 🤠
Thanks! Will do!

I agree, water conditions play a big role in the effectiveness of different sluice systems. It's all about finding the right balance!

You are a wonderful big brother, that's thoughtful of you to do@@RemOutdoors
Do you have a problem using the snake river recon in slow moving creeks?
Yes, Unless you create a dam but i feel doing that expends a lot of energy and there are other tools better suited
@@RemOutdoors I use my angus mckirk recon in slow water
Great job , very informative video thanks for sharing 👍 PPO out

It all depends on the type of gold and the amount of heavies your in.

The biggest plus is how fast you can clean up vs a regular sluice too. All things being equal you saw how fast it is compared
As long as I don't have to classify...@@RemOutdoors My mini stream sluice takes 30 seconds to cleanup
@@goldiswhereyoufindit In that case i would run my Mini Monster high banker and jus shovel strait in . No having to classify or move material.
