- Fluid bed concentrator by Green Mountain Gold Trap, review and give away! Joseph from Green Mountain Gold Trap sent me a 23” Paysteak Finder to pay with. He knows in British Columbia, Canada we are not permitted to use anything like this in the rivers due to regulations, So he asked me to do a review of the item, then give it away to one of my viewers. This gold concentrator is like the Bazooka or the Grizzly fluid bed sluices. Although I hear both those other companies are not producing them anymore. One very nice aspect of these fluid be classier concentrators is that material can be shoveled in directly as the sluice classifies as it processes. Gold panning with the aid or river sluices seams like so much fun, too bad we can’t do it here in B.C.

That was fast!! You doing it live? If so, what time?
@@GreenMountainGoldTrap Great design. I was skeptical at first, until Dan broke it down at the end. Cheers! Chris.
@@Uncle_Buzz In today's world, you should be. Thanks for your kindness.
@@GreenMountainGoldTrap Fantastic product Joe. If I am not the lucky winner tonight I will be purchasing one of these in the near future. Love the design and the concept. As well as the ease of operation.
@@GreenMountainGoldTrap Not only that but I might just drive down to get it. I'm only an hr away.
Hey Dan, I think what catches my attention most is your children and family accompany you. It's great to see kids being outdoors and exploring and being taught a nice hobby! Too many of our youth are hooked on their phones and X boxes and forget about our great outdoors, again Dan great video and I will be looking forward to your next!!!
its only three months since i started watching your shows,, i find yours very helpful for a newbee,,, i enjoy all of them ,Pioneer Pauly, as well, also the american, Two Toes,, each give a person great knowledge! Thank you all!
Dan you are the person that started me gold panning. Your outlook on life is a breath of fresh air.
Just wanted to say I stumbled upon your videos a couple weeks ago and have loved watching them and learning more about gold panning, keep them up! but last night I finally decided to buy some gold pans to give it a chance. I think this will be great to bring to my family's next camping trip, Thank you for all the great content!
Hoping to get started panning soon - been watching your videos for a few weeks now to learn what to do! Thanks for the education and good times!
Wow. That was one of the most comprehensive product reviews I have ever seen. Thanks.
You're welcome
Wow that was quick...The names of two UA-cam prospecting legends plus a giveaway bring all the folks who view quietly and don't normally comment or hit the like button out of the silence...awesome...wish every video got the same attention.
Peek Ah Boo!!
Awesome just awesome! I like that small amount of cons, I like that it caught all sizes from big big pickers to that super fine gold! I’m really happy with the results and craftsmanship! Three thumbs up! Great job dan and great job green mountain gold traps
I have one for a giveaway at our outing in June Martin, you never know you may end up taking it home with you.
Thanks!
Hi Dan! Great video! I have used this product nearly every day for the last 2 years with the only concern being the distance one must travel. The larger version, the"River Bed Hog," being nearly twice as large, weighs accordingly. While it's still heavier, it is NOT heavy! Soooooo, a shovel, a pan, a sniffer bottle, and a sense of adventure is all that's required! Again, awesome video!
See you on the "Tube!"
Dingus & Eva!
Peek Ah Boo!
Thanks for showing this trap. you are great guy and that’s a great #GreenMountainGoldTrap Greetings Goldjunge Tom
Nice, your friend?
Yes it is a great gay. go fir it
Thanks for the test green mountain Gold trap
I really like this fluid bed sluice review because that’s what I run in Colorado ! They catch gold well and you can feed them way faster than a regular sluice . Great episode
I have both the small and the 3 foot trap. They are by far the best I have ever used. Great piece of equipment!!!!
I was impressed
How do they handle placing a rock/any weight on them to keep them down?
@@johan340 Depends on water level and speed. But yes sometimes you need a rock on top
Very nice design! Pretty awesome the fluid bed itself pulls out of the sluice/classifier for easy clean out with out pulling the whole system out of the water!
Nice job on the review, I like seeing new ideas for today's professor's. You can add some led buckshot (painted brite orange or yellow) to your test dirt, for a more accurate test. Note that the buckshot as you already know, is lighter then gold and can easily be shaped into flakes and nuggets for best results and a accurate count. If you can catch led, you can catch gold. Good Luck.
Wow! For its size that’s the king of concentrator’s. Excellent piece of equipment, thanks for the review Dan.
Another great video, Dan. I've been skeptical about fluid bed sluices, but you explained it clearly.
Thanks!
Just another gimmick. . What a joke.
You have great videos, not only you teach your students you also teach your viewers too. Thank You!! I'm new at this, I like it because it gets me out the house. I just want to say l'm happy to see that Your Family goes out with You. Especially your Father. Great Times!! Blessings....
Thanks! It's a great hobby
Green mountain gold traps are awesome, everyone should get one. Good quality products!
Yup
There a joke. Just another gimmick for those who are green as fresh cut clover.
As always great video. I enjoy your honesty. It helps us novices learn without being pressured. Great job.
Thanks!
Heck yeah! This would be an awesome prospecting tool. Thanks for the vids, Dan.
Thanks for watching!
I have wanted a fluid bed concentrator for about a year now! great review! looking forward to your summer adventures this year :)
Love the way it works. Super easy to clean out. Would be nice to try on the flour gold in the North Saskatchewan River😃👍🏽 excellent video
effective and well made . i like the fact that it is transparent
I do too
Finally sub'd :) Loved you finding that HUGE picker a few weeks back!
Thanks for subscribing!
Great review Dan, Joseph has done great work to get that product up to the standard it is. Would love to use one some day.
Thanks!
A very good run through on the Green Mountain Gold Trap, Dan. You did her justice. I love mine, I have the one that Joesph sent you, I really love the removable trap... Great video Dan, may you always have a Flash In Your Pan.
Post Note; Dan If I end up winning in the drawing, please pay it forward, I already have one. Thank you, Sir.
I really wish I could use it here - it's such a beautiful piece of equipment!
Great video and review .... You have an infectious humility about yourself ... Love it ...
Dan that classifier works great. As you know I won mine from Joseph in his last giveaway. I love it
Yeah is does Damon... I know I really like mine.
It's pretty slick!
love the channel, been watching for a few months now. I am very new to prospecting and would love to have this as my first piece of equipment. Keep up the excellent work and thank you for making these!
Green Mountain Gold Trap! Love the videos, keep them coming! Please and Thank you!
Thanks!
Super well made. Great video! My husband and I are getting into gold prospecting, it's been a blast!
Wow, great demonstration and review Dan, you are great guy and that’s a great #GreenMountainGoldTrap ! Cheers and best wishes, Aaron
Thanks!
It's not worth the half a grand price tag though. It's ridiculously priced. As is most anything in this hobby, the only way to make money in prospecting is selling us equipment, or buying our gold outright (given that we could make more money flipping burgers at minimum wage than we do fossicking in most countries due to laws on mechanisation). :(
Any gold is good gold..
That's for sure..
Hope you're having a fantastic Spring Dan..
Peace from South Carolina..
Thanks!
Great review of a great product!!!!
Thanks!
That's a neat contraption! New to this didn't know other people invented such a thing! Great vid keep them coming!
Those devious looks as the little guy chews on the bubble wrap xD
Yup!
That's a feather in Dan's hat....lol
Thanks for showing me how this is done, I'll build a franken-fluid from an old foot-scraper, some old water-pipes and some boards and finally start getting those gold-flecks out of my stream back home. It was all to much of a hassle to pan those odd-flecks of tiny gold out of that icy water, but with this knowlege I can concentrate it with a shovel and the stream and then pan it at home in less cool water. To bad freight and taxes would be a killer shipping to Europe, or I'd go ahead and buy a ready-made one. Fluid-bed-theory was otherwise something I only knew from garbage-combustion...
We can use all kinds of sluices and such here in Wyoming. I think the BC politicians are addled, why would you not run river gravel back into the river??? In running sluices and dredges you actually dislodge river insect larvae into the water and feed the fish... fish love gold miners because a free meal is too hard to pass up. And you know what they say about free stuff... it's worth saving up for!
Awesome Review Thanks 👍
Very well said @Live Your Wyoming Adventure and very true. If you're looking for fish on a river look immediately downstream from the gold miners and you'll find a lot of fish eating up nutrients dislodged from the gold miners' material.
Alberta is way stricter with gold prospecting!..They don't allow any equipment,or putting Sluice water back directly into the river. And only allowed to stay in one area for 15 days max and cannot purchase a claim.
If you are a American with a camera crew you can grab all the gold possible!..Wonder what stink would be if us Canadians went south and loaded up on gold from areas rich in gold compared to the rest of the Country!..Canada the nice Country that gives its natural resources, and valuable gold and gemstone.
The "endangered" San Gabriel River mudsucker loves sluicers and will swim in and around your sluice. 😮
I like the how it catches the smaller dirt and separates the rocks we would like to try it out ourselves. Thanks for the demo.
It looks like an amazing piece of equipment. You show that it catches gold. BUT,.... and you can see it's a BIG but, what I didn't see and would have like to have seen is you pan through the tailings to see what it misses. Looking great (and it does), catching gold (which it did), but if I don't know what is being missed (if any), all I have is "pretty" and catches gold. When someone asks if any gets through,.. I have no idea. It could be pretty and misses half the gold.
Now don't get me wrong. That looks like it'd do an awesome job. I'm just saying the test isn't complete.
Enjoyed the video for sure. Sure wouldn't mind trying that thing out myself.
Yeah just another gold gimmick. What a joke. For those who are as green as fresh cut clover.
wouldn't be a good representation of it. its his first time using it. if he doesn't have it set up just right it could lose lots of gold at no fault to the equipment. same goes for any other piece of equip. user error is almost always the issue!!
How exciting...count me in!!! Green Mountain Gold Trap looks like it may be my answer! Thanks Dan :))
big thumbs up @ Dan Hurd from fluid bed giveaway much love from Cape Breton Nova Scotia
Thanks!
Really fantastic walk through of the Green Mountain Gold Trap! You explain the equipment and process so clearly - thank you for sharing!
Thanks!
why aren't you panning your tailings? I would expect from a thorough review that you show efficiency of the product, beyond "oh look, we captured some fine gold".
The Green Mountain Gold Trap that Joseph builds in Vermont is an awesome unit, the construction is awesome...With the ability to see right through the unit as it is functioning is one of it's big ticket charms...That and the space age design and material just looks awesome...Really easy to use..and little set up time to get it going...place it in a river, stream, or as Dan did in a man made channel. Get the unit level or as close as one can. Start feeding it until it gets near full...again because you can see through it you can see if the unit is still fluid stratifying...if it isn't it's full...really full. Best to stop before it is totally full...and easy to clean out..it's tough and can take a beating in the field from use. Awesome job Dan. Glad you were capable of doing this review for Joseph...You know with your Icon I150 set up you have a drain channel from your unit to your tailings pond...you can use one of those in the drain channel to catch what flows out of the Icon and catch anything that makes it out of that end of the unit. The Gold trap would make a wonderful safety catch net for that system as it is currently set up...and now you built a channel for it...best to paint that wood though to keep it from rotting in the water...Just an Idea 😉...or plumb up the gold capture end from the icon and run that through the Gold Trap clannel rather than the pail you currently use as a catch...I often wonder if you loose any powder fine gold from that pail due to the water pressure in that bucket from the machine as it runs and flows over the bucket edge...might be an Idea...Thanks for posting this vid...and until your next video...Bye 👍
Your a good man Wayne, thanks!
Pick me pick ne pick me pick me pick me pick me pick me :)
Best of luck!

Another great video Dan.
Really enjoyed watching review of Green mountain gold trap. Here in Australia sluices are about all you can use in the areas I go to. I have watched Chris from Vogus use the grizzly many times and wanted to get one but as you said they are no longer in business. That size gold trap would work so well in the small streams I work.
Thanks for the review and thanks for the very informative videos. Hoping to be lucky enough to get the trap
Always a joy to see you out there getting it! "Testing" a sluice would be capturing the outflow and seeing how much the unit under test loses. Even your trough with some horizontal riffles hastily nailed to the floor will catch "some" gold.
True
I can’t think of a better day than hanging out at the creek with this little gold trap. Good luck everyone!!! Keep up the good work Dan.
Another great video Dan and Evan. Thanks for the great explanation on how the fluid bed works, was always curious.
Thanks!
That sluice looks so awesome. 👍 I watch your show all the time and find myself wanting to leave a comment but I watch UA-cam on the TV. I personally don't have any sluices too much too heavy for me to carry that's perfect for a single woman such as myself. Thank you for sharing that
Great review Dan. Looks like a well constructed and most importantly, a very robust design.
yup
Oh my goodness. I didn't know such simple yet wonderful things were Available!
I love the easy way this thing works. Great for backcountry prospecting.
I agree
This is awesome! I've seen a lot of fluid bed sluices on UA-cam, but this is the first in which you can see what is going on inside the fluid bed. Definitely an educational moment for me. Thanks Dan!
Great review Dan. A few years ago I was looking into getting one but never did. A great tool for anyone who is able to use them. Keep up the great work. Cheers!
Watching your vids has been a big inspiration, and I'm going to try my luck down here in northern Idaho this year. Thanks for everything you do to educate us!
Great videos have been watching for a year love the classroom instruction wish I had had that in shop class.
Awesome. Joseph is great I’ve been following him for a while.
I agree
love it when you get the family involved. to me thats what it is all about, gold is the bonus
The construction is nice to see what is going through the sluice. Very well put together. @Dan Hurd keep up the good work, love the videos, watch them even at work.
Thanks!
That particular product would make it easy for a new comer like myself to be able to concentrate on being able to recognize what could be a gold bearing area instead of having to worry about setting up a standard sluice and getting all the angles just right as well as the other issues you would run into. I give it a massive thumbs up. And Dan you did an excellent job on the review on explaining the product and how it works, thank you.
Love your enthusiasm, love watching your videos. Thanks for letting us share in your adventures
Dan, I've watched most of the lessons you've given your students. Wanted to let you know I think I pay more attention to you than your students. I fully enjoy watching.
Love your videos Dan..I love the enthusiasm you have for prospecting..Keep the videos coming and happy prospecting!
Great explanation of how it works, thanks for being an teacher out of the classroom as well
Thank you for explaining this sluice Dan., I have searched Green Mountain Gold Trap vids along with others and could not figure this out, until now@@@@-------- you are the man
Great little unit, thanks Dan. The bubble wrap popping was a bonus!
Thank you so much Dan! Your channel has given me focus on my gold and jade prospecting here in PNW. Looking forward to trying this product! Love your homemade river btw sending much love to you as well brother. Need me some bubble rap!!!
The fact that the gold trap can catch so much fine gold and keep it caught is amazing.
It's pretty slick
What a cool kind of technology! Thank you for explaining how this sluice works without any mat👍🏼
Thanks!
First off, Great Job Dan with another useful review! The unit actually appears to be every bit as good as it's represented to be! If you haven't given it away yet, It would be awesome to be entered and who knows, it may just be my first real piece of prospecting equipment. Great Job to Green Mountain Gold Traps as well on what appears to be an Excellently Crafted Gold Catching Equipment!!!
Thanks!
Great video, been following you for about a month now, I'm learning something new in just about every video I watch! It's exciting to watch you get the gold.
Thanks!
Hey I like the way you always keep doing the right thing, staying out of trouble and following the rules, also I like the fact that if it’s not good you won’t do a review, it makes it safer for the consumer who has an interest thanks again Dan and I also liked the crew and construction of the make shift river very Awesome 😎.
Another great video, I'm still new to this but I learn a lot from your videos that help with my panning education.
I love your work, I think this Green Mountain Gold trap is perfect for small streams. In Vermont many years ago, in a small stream someone got enough gold to buy property, build a home and barn. This stream was small enough that I would not fish in lol. Thanks for the review, again love your work and information.
Thanks!
Very nice workmanship, simple-effective
That is a great looking system and a great idea with the removable trap. You did a great review .
Thanks Dan great family sluice video.👍 happy Mother's Day mrs. Hurd
Thanks!
Beautiful piece of equipment. Thanks for explaining the way a fluid bed sluice works. Great video!
Thanks!
Your right the big one would be easier to shovel in but the little one is still nice and compact for travel n such.
Beautiful construction. You can actually see what's going on. Nice
Looks like a very smart design and different from anything I have seen before... Great review and great piece of equipment.
It's very slick
I love watching all your videos I have learned so much from you I really like that you bring your family along with you. God bless you and your family keep bring the great videos.
Dan I’ve watched a lot of your videos and I have learned a lot from them. This is my first time seeing a fluid bed, logical but different
. Thumbs up for your review
Simply fantastic review! As usual! Thank you Dan!
thats a very cool box it looks really easy and fun, and thats what its all about! thank you for the review!
Honesty is the best policy, it looks very well built and designed
Thanks!
Great review Dan! Thanks! Hubby and I are looking at new equipment and this would be great for our day treks.
Thanks!
Smart engineering in this design. Keep up with the great videos.
I have seen these before and appear to work great! Great review, Dan. Best of luck and may you have much yellow in your pan!
I've been watching since the old days of the videos teaching the highschool class. Always great vids. That fluid bed looks like a great bit of kit! Keep up the informative and entertaining videos!
Great video, I can't wait to look into his equipment more. You can tell he takes pride in his work very clean construction.
It's a great piece
Hahaha your son reminded me of how I felt as a kid popping bubble wrap. Thanks for reviewing this. I like the way it looks and works as well.
I was confused till your description at the end now it makes sense thanks for a great video class
Always learning from ur videos, me and my son have been hunting for gold in NC last 3 year's we also have a fluid bed sluice. Great video
That's an awesome 👌 fluid bed sluice I will be definitely getting one thanks to your educational videos please continue I love watching your videos your an inspiration
Unique design in hydrology. Good review. Thank you Dan.
Thanks!
Great review, especially like how you and your dad went the extra mile to create your own little river/stream since we can't use them in BC. Gave me a great idea of how to use one if I come across one though, thanks for that.
Glad you enjoyed it!
