Eminem, what an enigma! The best selling most awarded rap artist, yet underrated and still being discovered and appreciated by new generations. A man who is private, limits his exposure, has no paid endorsements I’m aware of, yet has such a loyal and dedicated fan base. A white man who struggled to make it in a culturally black inspired/dominated art form, yet he defends and is politically aligned with them in solidarity. When you dig through the considerable layers of what makes up Eminem, he is very real and honorable.
Exactly i started listening to him just last year and i already consider him the goat there's something about him he can do all these different styles he can make you laugh make you cry make you mad he can do anything

yeah i strongly agree with you that he’s one of the biggest but soo underrated i listened to his mainstreams around 07-10 but never thought about the lyrics to be so deep and didn’t appreciate him that much as well but i really give him all my respect in one year throughout reactions channels here in yt

fun fact: Elton John has been a huge father figure for him for years (he even performed Stan live with him) and Elton helped him get off drugs permanently
this was his first album after getting sober from his overdose. Not Afraid is like an anthem for addicts wanting to get sober or anybody going through some life struggles. Hailey(daughter) is the one that found him overdosed on methadone pills in his bathroom, doctors said had she not found him he would have been dead within two hours or less.

there is not a single rapper around that ever EVER even came close to hit me with the same effect that Em's lyrics do and NONE of the other rappers i have ever listened to gave me the brain concussion that Music To Be Murdered By did because i couldnt even listen to rap songs for a whole month when i first listened to MTBMB with Godzilla being especially devastating in that experience
and for the record i dont know all the names because i dont listen to other rappers in general; if i like something ill memorize the artists but if not im moving on so before someone comes and asks me which other rappers i enjoy, know that the list is very small
i do enjoy mostly Eminem and DMX because of their hard-hitting styles and have been enjoying some Token as well recently and thats about where my list stops
if it wasnt for Em i wouldnt even be listening to rap because other rappers dont generally interest me so thats a testament to his skills as an artist and NO ONE can take that from him, saying otherwise is completely disingenuous and deeply insulting the art of music and that would be something i would never ever tolerate
Eminem even said after his overdose he had to learn how to rap again, so his relapse album was probably an experimental album for him getting back into the game again

Em overdosed on prescription drugs and was hospitalised he nearly died... When he came back from that he had to learn how to rap again.. he dropped Relapse hence all the accents in album...personally Relapse/Recovery are my TOP 5 Em albums as an Ex addict myself 14yrs clean I can relate to both alot.. Em came out stronger and better 👌👌 should do more from both albums just to get a feel what he was going through 😊
Eminem is 13 years sobriety he is 13 years sober.
Sometimes people get wrapped up in his greatness, but forget he is a human being that also went thru his share of stuff. I challenge he still has yet to reach his potential. 💯

One of my favorite song by Em he really did amazing with this song, one things em isn't afraid to talk about is real life and that's what l love about him. He has helped so many people and brought joy to all his fan ❤ Not afraid is an amazing song🔥.

Beautiful is a BEAUTIFUL song! Blows me away everytime I listen to it. The man is an amazing person and soul. You can see and feel it through his music.
Yep it definitely top tier eminem, but the way i see it i could see why em hate that album so much. Like come on, relapse was made when he is at the lowest point on his life.
An inspirational and brutally honest anthem for Eminem’s fans addressing that of his struggles and triumphs, and encouraging his fans to reach their triumphs as well.

To take a stand (To take a stand)" - He’s brave enough to admit that he has a problem and that a lot of the messages that he sent out glorifying drug use on his past records might have been ill-advised. He isn’t afraid to look softer if it means he can help people out who could end up in similar situations that he was. He is afraid of giraffes though.
"Whatever weather, cold or warm, Just lettin' you know that you're not alone, Holla if you feel like you've been down the same road"- No matter what you’re going through in life, you’re not alone. There are people in this world feeling the same way and being that Eminem has been through the same way of life, you can trust his music to lead you out of the darkness.
"And all those who look down on me, I'm tearin' down your balcony " - To “look down” on someone means to view them as someone of lesser importance. Plus, people on balconies high up literally look down on others.
"From Infinite down to the last Relapse album he's still shittin'" - Infinite was Em’s first studio album and Relapse was his most recent album (back in 2010) - he’s mimicking the critics who have hated on him throughout his career.
"Like a "fuck you" for Christmas, his gift is a curse" - A “Fuck You” for Christmas is a gift that’s a curse (literally, as “fuck” is a curse word); similarly, Eminem sometimes thinks of his “gift” (talent) for rapping as his cross to bear.
"Okay, quit playin' with the scissors and shit, and cut the crap" - A clever play on words: applying scissors to shit is how one would go about literally cutting crap, He also means here that companies like MTV and VEVO shouldn’t censor or ‘cut’ his lines, and leave the “bad words” like crap in. Eminem says whatever he wants!
"I shouldn't have to rhyme these words in a rhythm, For you to know it's a rap " - Here, Em goes off the beat and then rhymes about going off the beat. This kind of meta-rhyme stuff is a little inside baseball, but it’s a big part of why Em’s one of the most technically-gifted emcees in mainstream rap, There’s also an “it’s a wrap” pun here: he shouldn’t have to be spitting this rhyme for you to know that Em’s victory in any challenge to Em’s dominance is a foregone conclusion.“Rap” literally stands for Rhyme And Poetry.

On July 19, 2022 I'll be celebrating 8 years off of Fentanyl. Recovery is easily the best album Em has ever made. It just hits different when you get sober.
This song definitely helped me get through rehab on my 2nd and last time. January 28, 2012. That’s my date. Thanks Em for helping me

Honestly I'm 47. Born in Richmond CA. Grew up with NWA, Too Short, etc. Then to Virginia where introduced to Wu Tang as a dishwasher trying to raise up a young family. I didn't listen(maybe the only one who never listened to M). I realize he's inspirational for a whole group though. Any new/young rappers for my are MESUS, NF, HOPSIN, TOPHER, ETC. my old schoolers are Calhoun, Struggle, Brodnax. I did watch 8 mile through all the way. A little too corny for me. Nice message but super mainstream. If he dyes his head purple I'm walking. Need no have faith in all. Asia and BJ. If I'm not family....your're still mine. Peace.

I was one of them people like you who wasn't into rap until the past couple years when i started listening to eminem. What he can do with words is mind blowing.

As someone who has battled addiction I can tell you that you never get past it. You may beat it but you'll always fear going back. Relapsing. It truly is a one day at a time life. Every day you chose not to use. This song speaks to me on a very personal level.
Eminem in the interview said he couldnt focus on anything during the rehub time, he couldnt talk to ppl, couldnt watching the movie, lost his skills of rap, so he had to learn everything from beginning, this song is how he feels when he finally get on the track and being healthy both body and mindset, its like get a new life

when he wrote Relapse cd, he said he was battling writer's block and would write anything down. But after Relapse was done, he felt more like himself and wrote Recovery. So he says Encore, he was on drugs, Relapse he was coming off, then Recovery it was out of his system and he felt like himself again.

I'll tell you what though. He read a dictionary all the time so he could have any word available at any time. Seems like a good start if you ask me. Anyone can memorize words, but being able to string words together like that isn't something anybody can do. The reason his lyrics hit so hard is because he is able to get his point across using any word he wants. He'll tell you what words rhyme, not the other way around lol.

Anyone who says Eminem is not a full blow artist is high ; you just have to look at the end of The Way I am, Not Afraid and THe Fall. In Way I am he stops just before hitting the ground, in this he gets to the ground and flies, in the fall with everything behind him he falls and just lands on his feet and walks away. That alone is a complete epic in three scenes
