There's an old Oscar Wilde poem from over a hundred years ago that has the line, "We are all in the gutter; some of us are gazing at the stars". There have been different variations on that idea ever since in literature and music.
It'll be very difficult for any future rapper to ever come close to Ems incredible godlike ability to craft verses. It's not just natural talent, it's years upon years of exercising those 'muscles'. The ability to consistently slam home double, triple, and quadruple entendres and make music that almost always requires multiple listens to pick up and make connections that EACH add to the enjoyment of the song when you listen to it next. It's amazing.
@Aaron Woodard i justthink that eminem is a high level, and why people say nobody is on his level is because of how many people says his song helps them geting thru life. because of that many people gonna say that nobody gonna get on his level. his songs helped me thru geting raped, was in a violent relationship. and because of that nobody gona get on his level. if u get it haha english is not my first language
This song sent me over the edge to get clean. I was in a dark place, wanting to get clean but didn't know where to start. I was afraid of the sickness(me and Em had a similar pill problem). I remember sitting in my car leaving the gas station and this song came on, and I thought if he can, I can. Never looked back. Yeah, I wanted to die and the emotional part after the physical is harder but I just kept playing that song. "I'm not afraid to take a stand. Everybody come take my hand"
6 months later I hope you're still feeling strong. If not, that's ok too, tomorrow is a new day. So just in case you need to hear it today: you've got this and things will get better. Happy holidays. ❤🎄
christ died for you sins on the cross at calvary, diedi n you place, that u dont have to go to hell for eternity, christ was buried and rose again. At the end of the third verse when he says: Or the corner pub and lift the whole liquor counter up 'Cause I'm raisin' the bar I actually take this is as a triple. 1. He's picking up the liquor counter, thus picking up and "raising" the bar. 2. He's "raising the bar", by setting a higher standard for himself 3. Raise is a homophone for raze, which means to destroy. So he's also saying "Razing the bar", as taking that part of himself and destroying it completely. Great song, great reaction!
It is his transformation. Being clean and he is still on top. It took him a minute to come back but he did and he killed it! I love this song. It shows his battle and the growth he achieved. Still slaying it
I think this was when Em for the most part stopped with the blond hair (except for 8 mile). I was in the hospital after multi organ transplants when this came out. My nurses knew I liked rap and 1 of them bought me this cd and since I had a lot of trouble sleeping, the night shift nurses would hang out in my room and we'd listen to this CD and or my iPod.

The whole Relapse album is fire, but I think Em doesn't like the message behind most songs and also the accent he used to twist some pronunciation to make them fit in the rap. I'd say it's a must listen tho, don't shy away from it because of what people say, there's BARS on that album. Cheers!
The production is so incredible on that album! Crazy wordplay and cadences he uses is so fire too. Im glad he made that album, it adds to his versatility as an artist

Also, when he says "you said you was king, u lied thru your teeth, instead of getting crowned your getting capped." He hits on king/crown capped hat(cap peeled) He's dope af on almost everything he's done and continues to do.
@@papalotapuss995 Wayne's on this album. In another song, Em talks about how he thought about going after Wayne at the time but knew Em wasn't capable of actually doing well. That he would have been doing it out of jealousy. Not sure why he would be taking shots at him at the same time. Lots of rappers have called themselves the king. I wouldn't read too much into it.
It's both. He wants to exorcise them (get rid of them) but instead they are doing jumping jacks, meaning that he isn't getting rid of them (exorcising them) but rather his demons are all ramped up doing jumping jacks (exercising). He wants to get rid of his demons but they are ramped up and excited doing jumping jacks (exorcise/exercise). Double meaning, play on words. Brilliant.
