I've been making these for quite a while. Gotta say, your Pfaff sure runs better than mine. I'm buying a bi-level foot to keep the foot from jumping off the path when it hits the side seam of the placemat. Regarding the webbing strap: if it's cotton, I like to zig-zag the strap before applying so that it doesn't ravel. If it's polyester or nylon I melt the edge slightly by running through a flame to stop raveling.
