The idea of Bringing the holy roman empire back together under one flag

The biggest problem is now Russia can change ideology, which, for some reason, disables the majority of the democratic focus tree. The worst part is that the focus "Bulwark Against Bolshevism" will change name depending on who rebels, either "Bulwark Against Fascism" or "Bulwark Against Imperialism (I think)", so a developer looked at the focus tree, added this detail, but didn't think about the entire country becoming unplayable if you can't complete The Great Red Menace.
In mp matches democratic nations are very fun to play to be honest, even in SP it's fun, if only because it is something more of a challenge then the usual fascist and communist paths

Democratic Germany is really fun if you make sure other nations will go communist or fascist. It is actually one of the few presets I have because it is my favourite route in the game.
My favourite path in the game is actually a democratic path. Bulgaria is incredible and the ability to get cores on the entirety of the bulkans and then get 2 building slots in every core state is incredible. Also democracy has the best occupation law by far

The reason for Austria wanting to join is the fact that Austria sentiment after WW1 was generally very pro-German reunion. With basically everything valuable being situated in the Eastern parts of old Austria-Hungary noone really though that this new state could even survive. Later on an Austrian version of Facism would take hold and establish a stronger feeling of patriotism in opposition to Hitler's ambitions but I assume in this timeline the Austro-Facist government ultimately failed due to a lack of enemies and everyone just wanted to join Germany.

Played STFC and its definetly not free if you want any progress or be competitive. Most players I know spend about 500$ per month. The top ones on our server about 10 000$ per month each. And of course if you not paying you can wait for USS Enterprise for about 2 years of active playing.
Democracies are much more fun to me since the last DLC. I like the democratic army stuff you can take, especially best of the best and the one that reduces army advisor cost by 50%
I'd only been playing HOI4 for a few months, but still had, uh, moral qualms about playing the German Reich, so I always ended up Opposing Hitler and going with the Kaiser Reich. Then, I decided to try this tree. I ended up getting Benelux, Scandinavia, the Baltic States (including Poland), and Romania all into one faction. However, I was playing ahistorical, and the UK went facist and France went commie, so, in 1940, we ended up with a three-way fight. Great Britain, Spain (yup, they actually joined in), Italy and Japan on one side, France, USSR, and Mongolia on another, and basically the rest of Europe (as well as China and India) as the third. The Americas were pre-occupied with a massive mutli-continent thing, so they didn't get involved. With 200+ factories, six research slots, and appropriate compositions, it was an absolute butt-kicking. Not sure if the Benelux blitzkrieg with Benelux units assisting, the Finnish armored assault, or 20 German paratrooper divisions dropping on Tokyo was my favorite part. Whole thing was over in less than three years, and I still didn't really understand unit compositions or upgraded equipment yet. The USSR wasn't even fun. I just punched holes with armor, and Polish, Romanian, and Czech infantry filled them in. At the end, the US and its allies ruled the Western Hemisphere, and the "EU" and China ruled a very heavily balkanized Eurasian landmass. I have tried four times to get that scenario ever since, but have been unsuccessful.
Consumer goods caculates the number of factories based on the total number of factories. Conerting to mil will not reduce the requirement. You can, technically, ruin your country by building too many mil factories so that consumer goods eat up all your civ and you get stuck without being able to build shit :P
THat's not what's going on there. What that debuff is (that extra 6.8%) is a mod that detected he had too many civs and instead started debuffing his consumer good upkeep.
