    Well after seeing them in person it is nice to see the steps that you used to make them. They came out great and you did a good job on the video. I would like to talk with you some about that bending jig you used.

    This is very cool. Thanks for posting. What steel are you using for your tooling?

    • @brentboykin9493

      On that particular lower die I used a pin from a 10K vehicle 2 post lift. The flat side is mild steel. I commonly axle shafts as well. Basically anything that has a higher carbon content. Mild steel lasts well if you keep your steel hot.
      Stay tuned I hope to do some dies soon for bolt jaw tongs that hold material at 90 degrees as well. Thanks for your interest, bboy

    That post vice looks new, is somebody making them again or is it restored and painted?

      I cleaned and painted that one. I don’t know of any being made in the U.S. I think there may be some quality ones being made overseas. Thanks for watching, Brent

    Nice job, however, not everyone has a power hammer to cut the v in the nibs. I find doing it old fashioned way enjoyable and enhances the blacksmith skill. Hand chiseling takes some practice but after a while you can get accurate with it.

      I'm somewhat capable of doing them both ways. It takes skill and I could certainly use more practice. Check out my box jaw tongs video, I do a little more hand forging on them. Thanks for your input, bboy

    What type of hammer is that? Looks like a beast ??

    • @brentboykin9493
      @brentboykin9493  3 роки тому

      Anyang 88. I really enjoy it. It has opened the door for re-purposing formerly unusable shapes. And yes it is a beast, you get the 88# hammer and a lot of air behind that.

      @@brentboykin9493 That was a nice job you did on those tongs. I'm looking at getting the #88 too. I'm sure there are a lot of people that would be interested in a quick walk round video of your hammer, me included :-)

      @@brentboykin9493 A quick look round the hammer showing the various features and some comments on how you find the 88 in use. A few shots showing the size of the machine would be really as it's difficult to visualise with out some thing for scale. Thanks again
