- 3D platforming is arguably one of the most important genres in all of gaming history. Most 3D games use many aspects of 3D platforming today; even if they are not considered as a platformer. Super Mario 64 and Crash Bandicoot were some of the very first 3D Platformers that rocked the world, but were they the first TRUE 3D platformers? Let's talk about it!

Jumping Flash is so overlooked, more people need to experience the joy of First Person Platforming.
In my opinion Canadian Guy has a very funny sense of humor , I prefer more videos in this comedic style
I grinned like a maniac seeing Robbit's silhouette there in the thumbnail. Jumping Flash and its sequel are great games that need more love. Be sure to look up Naka Teleeli's Jumping Flash Doom mod as well if you want a very faithful modern take on the gameplay, too.

I didn’t know about Jumping Flash until I heard about Jumping Flash 2. It was on my PS1 demo disc back then, however, it was a trailer for Jumping Flash 2. When I got the PlayStation Classic which I called it PS1 Mini, that’s when I started playing Jumping Flash. The PS1 Mini included Jumping Flash among with other PS1 games including Final Fantasy 7 and Rayman. I brought Jumping Flash though the PS Store on PS4 and I’m going to play it this spring. I feel like it’s perfect for Easter because Robbit is a robot rabbit. This is a great video and it’s the 1st CGE video of 2024.

Jumping flash was the Very first 3D platform game and the very first true 3D Platformer for the original playstation, Not Crash Bandicoot, my mind is blown.

So technically Alpha Waves was the first 3D Platformer but Geograh Seal was the first 3D shooter platformer and Jumping Flash was the first 3D Platformer Shooter that kicked it up a notch.

I don't know how much he knew of it before then (maybe he'd heard of it) but after watching at least part of your top 10 PS1 games video where you mentioned this game, my brother bought this game on PS3 lol. I hope you continue to make videos like this or talking about early 3D platformers and stuff.

Actually, the first 3d platformer was released in the arcades in 1986. It was called I, Robot

Not a platformer. It was a first person action adventure with heavy use of jumping. This type of game doesn't have a genre name, because it was an awful experience and was pretty much never to be repeated (except the sequel) for exactly that reason.
The guy forgets Magic Carpet, throws away the innovation that was Alpha Waves to bring us a game from 1995 with a poor knowledge of imagery because he likes it... man...
FYI Mario was named and platforming as early as Mario Bros (1983) rather than Super Mario Bros (1985).
Part of me wishes JF was more of a success and Robbit grew to be Sony’s mascot. Maybe we could’ve gotten a third person platformer. Some VR for first person.
While Super Mario 64 didn't invent 3D platforming, it DID set a gold standard for the genre.
Just like how even though Super Mario Bros. came out after Pitfall, it still set a new standard for 2D platformers.
My favorite childhood 3D game platformers are: Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, and Mario.
I think the saddest part about Jumping Flash is like Crash and Spyro, it actually managed to be a trilogy on the PS1 ...but the third game remained a Japanese exclusive, a reverse of what happened with Spyro's third title never being released over there.
I remember playing Jumping Flash as one of my very first console video game experiences
I could only ever get to level 4 (world 1 level 1) but I enjoyed what I could play of the game
I didn't really get into playing until a few years ago, but man, Jumping Flash is so good and honestly, for all it's innovations, still kinda holds up.
I'm glad it's so easily available, it's worth experiencing for any classic platformer fan

Hey Canadian Guy Eh, Happy New Year! And since it is the year 2024 it is the year of the Dragon, Here's to hoping that Spyro gets some more games after his Reignited Trilogy game which was from all the way back in the year 2018, since it is now the Year of the Dragon.

Google says Alpha Waves and I have to agree, one day someone will look at today's video games and call them privative so that's a moot point
