This song reminds me of high school, I was 15 back in 1995. Haven't heard this for years and it's brought back lots of random old memories! I'm now 43. Where the hell has the time gone?
Just discovered this song again after 28 years thanks to Top of the Pops 1995 being repeated! I LOVED this song! When it came out I was a 21 year old lesbian who was still in the closet and having to 'play it straight' as I knew my family would disown me. Forward 28 years and I came out and yes, they did disown me, but I have a wonderful wife and am my true authentic self and couldn't be happier. This song helped me to be that independent person :)
Moving comment. Thanks for sharing. It is amazing how songs can inspire people in so many positive ways no matter how difficult the circumstances. Life is often tough and so needlessly due to the negativity of others. It is great that you are content now. Long may it continue.
Was there that day in 1994.. had come from Australia to see the Rolling Stones play in New Jersey.. Walking in Times Square in morning and this was being filmed. Came back afternoon and still filming. Wasnt to a few years later found the clip on the end of video we had of Bed of Roses. Loved the song since.

Extremely powerful tune. I've been trying to find this for ages, but couldn't remember neither the artist nor the title. I first heard the song on the italian tv, 'cause it had been used for a commercial, at the time. I think the chorus is just amazing. It gives me an impressive amount of shivers whenever i hear it. I'm not into mainstream radio pop/love songs in general, but that's one of the very few exceptions. Plus, this is pure gold, comparing it to the crap muzak you can hear on the radio these days.
Simöne Gall . A lot of mainstream pop these days sounds the same and it's nothing special. I don't listen to pop that's around at the moment much. You're right though, this song has an amazing chorus. One of the best songs of the 90s, and probably the last 20 years in my opinion.
I watched "100 forgotten songs from the 90s" and my heart skipped a beat when I heard this. This song had been totally erased from my memory although I loved it back then! So happy I was reminded about it.💖
This is my go-to song for demonstrating how music could sound before the Loudness War. Nobody would let the chorus play 6-7 dB louder than the verses these days, but this song doing so is breathtaking. It's an awesome song in every way.
I do not remember this back in 95. I was too busy getting into Oasis but heard this on the radio in 2020 and now can't get it out of my head. It gives me goosebumps when she hits that chorus. Campaign to get Scarlet in the top 10 or even 2020 Xmas no 1!!!
Heard this song today on the radio for the first time in at least 20 years, I've forgotten that it actually exists... Brings back cozy childhood memories 😍
So I heard this song's chorus playing today on the radio in a pizza joint and all of a sudden I'm back in 1995. Memory is a funny thing. This song seems to have always been with me. Hidden just under the surface of my consciousness. What a weird and magical moment when it came back to me in all its glory
This song is underrated and very underplayed. Brilliant song and such an amazing voice. I have always loved this song right from the first time I heard it.
One of my best favorite songs as a teenager. I gave less attention to the words but loved the performance. Sadly, you rarely hear performances like this one...
Just found this song after years of searching...literally had no words only hummed the tune into my phone and found it immediately omg I love technology sometimes
I can't believe this song is not among the most iconic timeless hits. It is a perfect representation of the true 1990s vibes. Everything is beautiful about it - the music, the lyrics, the vocals... And the video! It's a masterpiece of its own. I simply can't believe how underrated it is. My all-time favourite.
This song reminds me of my friend Mike who I shared a house with back in Autumn 94 in Manchester. Mike took his life aged just 21years, It was so shocking and unexpected. This song was always playing on the radio then as we tried to make sense of it.
lovely simple song why is life so difficult now? I long for these times when everything was easier. This so calming, great tune I want mor of this please xxxx
Never get tired of this song or its video. I own a copy on DVD of the adult version as this is the clean version. The track was written by Cheryl Parker and Jo Youle. From a recent interview, with Jo, it was stated that the record label asked them to write an Indie song rather than soppy love songs. In response, they wrote this anthem 'Independent' Love Song - pure genius! Shame they never lasted, though, and this should have been at least Top 5 but just missed the Top 10 in 1995.
2023 and the song never gets old. Love it😍

And I'll show you how to touch me
Right on, right on, right on
Now I find that many men will look my way
And I'll take them and let them show me the way
And sure I like a few but I leave the rest to play
I'm doing it a different way
I'm doing it a different way
I'm gonna show you how to take me
Go down, go down, ohhh

I first heard the song on the italian tv, 'cause it had been used for a commercial, at the time. I think the chorus is just amazing. It gives me an impressive amount of shivers whenever i hear it. I'm not into mainstream radio pop/love songs in general, but that's one of the very few exceptions. Plus, this is pure gold, comparing it to the crap muzak you can hear on the radio these days.
Same here, could not remember the lyrics nor the name/artist, finally found it!
i knew the title but forgot the artist, i remember this song being out in the '90s, i can remeber cycling to work at the time
It was on the Aperol ad on Italian TV if I'm not mistaken. Agree on the 'shivers' it gave me too...
Simöne Gall . A lot of mainstream pop these days sounds the same and it's nothing special. I don't listen to pop that's around at the moment much. You're right though, this song has an amazing chorus. One of the best songs of the 90s, and probably the last 20 years in my opinion.
Simöne Gall qqq q
I watched "100 forgotten songs from the 90s" and my heart skipped a beat when I heard this. This song had been totally erased from my memory although I loved it back then! So happy I was reminded about it.💖
Angeline is coming home is another one
Teledysk mi się nie podoba ale sam utwór jest piękny.Dobrze że człowiek może sobie przypomnieć lata młodości.
Criminal this song never made it Top 10, let alone Top 5 where it should have been!
Ah yes 1995 when everyone was going nuts over Britpop and the Blur vs Oasis battles on the Ten O'clock news
Heard this song today on the radio for the first time in at least 20 years, I've forgotten that it actually exists...
Brings back cozy childhood memories 😍
What a fantastic song, I can't believe it's coming up to 20 years old!
If only :D
So I heard this song's chorus playing today on the radio in a pizza joint and all of a sudden I'm back in 1995. Memory is a funny thing. This song seems to have always been with me. Hidden just under the surface of my consciousness. What a weird and magical moment when it came back to me in all its glory
This song is underrated and very underplayed. Brilliant song and such an amazing voice. I have always loved this song right from the first time I heard it.
What a fantastic song,, thank you, yet again,
DERRY GIRLS,,, only thee best of songs get on this comedy,,,, excellent...

2021 - who's listening to this masterpiece? ♥️ 🎧
2024. Still holds up.
One of my best favorite songs as a teenager.
I gave less attention to the words but loved the performance.
Sadly, you rarely hear performances like this one...
Oh my god totally forgot about this song till Derry Girls
So thankful to be reminded of it x
Just found this song after years of searching...literally had no words only hummed the tune into my phone and found it immediately omg I love technology sometimes
I LOVE this song. I want it played at my wedding. No wait, my funeral. Oh heck, both.
Heard this on the radio for the 1st time in years, had completely forgotten about this. Amazing track
Amazing song, hard to believe it's 21 years old now but still sounds brilliant

This song was stuck in my head for like 20 years, seriously. Just found it back like 5 minutes ago, so so happy!
First heard this song when watching the movie 'Bed of Roses'...takes me back!
Had completely forgotten about this classic 90s song
음 처음 들어보는데 뭔가 순수하면서도 뭔가 그리워지는 가슴이 웅장해지는 노래네요..좋다
Heard this on the radio so much in the 90s during my school days
2022 and still loving this song 🎵👍
23rd April 2020... I heard this song today on the radio for the first time... had to look it up. Fantastic!!!
I have barely heard this played on the radio with any regularity for well over 20 years!
Derry Girls anyone?
No, nobody. If it was Father Ted, maybe...
Loved 'Derry Girls' and this song totally suited the scene it was in :-)
Defo
I lived it 😂😢
Love Derry Girls ❤
I can't believe this song is not among the most iconic timeless hits. It is a perfect representation of the true 1990s vibes. Everything is beautiful about it - the music, the lyrics, the vocals... And the video! It's a masterpiece of its own. I simply can't believe how underrated it is. My all-time favourite.
Opened the dance floor on my wedding day with this song!
The perfect song! 😄
A forgotten gem. What a shame these ladies didn't go on to make more music together.
Uroniłam łzę... Utwór wyprzedzający swoje czasy, ogromny szacunek!
This song reminds me of my friend Mike who I shared a house with back in Autumn 94 in Manchester. Mike took his life aged just 21years, It was so shocking and unexpected. This song was always playing on the radio then as we tried to make sense of it.
So sorry Jaquline.
1994 was the best year for me aged 19, im so sorry for your loss. this song was always played loud in my car, a mark1 astra back then. xx
That’s so sad bless him xx
😭😭💔
So sorry for your loss, RIP Mike xxx
Still my favorite song! 💜
lovely simple song why is life so difficult now? I long for these times when everything was easier. This so calming, great tune I want mor of this please xxxx
It's just that we were younger and more carefree and worried about less! Amazing times.
Shame they never lasted, though, and this should have been at least Top 5 but just missed the Top 10 in 1995.
one of the greatest under appreciated one hit wonders.
This is so powerful...maybe only to me but my God. Takes me right back. I think it is one of the best in an underrated way
The mid 90's was the best times ever, this song brings back some of the best memories. Great song
The 80s will never be matched as well.
i was 15 wen it came out.dear me..still love it to this day..they r from hull.hurray.
Oh me too....about being 15 and all I mean:D Love this song♡♡♡
was 19 and that summer ''1995' was one of the longest and hottest ..not a cloud in the sky from may until september that year
I was 10 when this song came out, I used to love it.
The song just came into my head and I'm glad it did 😁😁👍🏾👍🏾
Still most powerful love song I know..
This has always been a great song. Discovered it upon seeing the Christian Slater movie "Bed Of Roses" in theater.
Same here👍
I have always loved this song. Still brilliant all those years later. ☺
Timeless Classic never gets old only better.
