I am so happy that you have revisited Radiohead, for me they are one of the most important bands to have come out of the UK and have certainly provided a soundtrack to my life, Since Pablo Honey was released back in 1993. Their output is unique, experimental, thought-provoking, heart breaking and often deeply beautiful. Like Amber's favourite, Pink Floyd, they are a band worthy of constant re-examination, relistening to their music brings insight and a deeper appreciation of quite how brilliant they are. I liked what Jay said "beautifully deep"....
Game show host, my iron lung, fake plastic trees, high & dry, how to disappear completely, everything in its right place. Radiohead is freaking amazing. Thank you for coming back to these guys.
The words to this song are powerful! I have gone through depression & difficult times, especially this past year being chronically ill & losing friends/family (dying too soon) just shattered me. I first listened to this album over two decades ago as someone brought me to their concert on a first date, it was amazing.
The song is literally about the euphoria...happiness...relief??... a person feels once they decide to end it. Thankfully not too many people have had to experience this mental place. You definitely got the vibe of it, but without the lyrics (oh our mumbly Thom) and first hand experience of this mindset its easy to miss. No alarms (not waking up) and no surprises (no more trauma), please. Anyway, I'm sure other's have already said this. If either of you see this comment I want to sincerely thank you for your reactions. You do a great job! Keep it up!
Radiohead is one of the most revered bands in the world. They have had the same 5 guys in the group since they started in college in the 80’s. “No Surprises” is a gem off their 3rd album “OK Computer” and the album won a grammy for best alternative album of the year. Another great track off that album is “Paranoid Android”. Other great Radiohead songs are: Karma Police; Nice Dream; Fake Plastic Trees; The Bends; Airbag; Street Spirit(Fad e Out); Let Down; My Iron Lung; and many more. One of the most creative groups you will ever find. PS- their lead guitar player, Jonny Greenwood has written the musical score for around 10 movies, including There Will Be Blood; Spencer. Their lead singer and lyricist is Thom York.
YES!!! Some Radiohead. I suggest slapping on those headphones, being blown away by Paranoid Android and going down the Radiohead rabbit hole from there.
I think everyone agrees that PARANOID ANDROID is the song you need to react to. It was the biggest song on their biggest album. Probably the pinnacle of Radioheads career.
They really do, the depth of quality within the Radiohead back catalogue is frankly staggering. They have B-sides that would be the best songs for other supposed 'top' bands. Cough cough Coldplay.
You guys should do “Fake Plastic Trees” by them next. It’s both my favorite song lyrically and melody-wise. Its theme has been described as the “difficulty of forging an authentic human connection in a world of artifice,” which is a tough nut to crack in the span of five minutes, but I think they pull it off. I feel his struggle to stay true to one’s self and one’s goals, when the whole world seems built around putting up a front and never showing anyone what you the real you is like.
Radiohead is one of those bands where every member is an incredible musician. Many people consider them one of the best bands of all time. I'd have to agree. Try "Just", "Fake Plastic Trees", High And Dry", "Paranoid Android", "Street Spirit", or "Knives Out"... All great songs with equally great videos.
@@maurovassallo1482 I didn't say they were the greatest band of all time. I said they were one of them. The Beatles, The Beach Boys, R.E.M, The Cure, and Suede are also on my list. There are many artists that broke the mold through their incredible talent and their focus on experimentation and always pushing the envelope. Though they are not bands, artists like Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel, and Prince also are masters of their craft.
One of my favourite groups to come out of the 90s! Thom Yorke is just something special, and their guitarist Johnny Greenwood is also a composer for a bunch of movie scores. I love the layers they have in the composition of their music. Definitely recommend more.. “High and Dry” was another popular/mainstream song that came out after “Creep”, as well as “Just”. But I also suggest “Fake Plastic Trees” and “Karma Police” (from this album as well). So many more but I’d start with those.
"Ladies and Gentlemen we are Floating in Space" by Spiritualized came out around the same time which was also incredible. It was a very good time for Prog-alt-rock!

Radiohead such an epic band and so underated this guys make music magic
House of Cards, Paranoid Android, Airbag, Exit Music (for a film), Optimistic, How To Disappear Completely, Weird Fishes/Arpeggi, Daydreaming....really can't go wrong with Radiohead!
Thom Yorke is absolutely one of my favorite singers of all time(as is the whole band). There's not a single song where he doesn't just slay on vocals, even in the quiter ones like this song. I recommend one of their more rocking songs next time, like "There, There", "The Bends", or "Black Star" are the first three that come to mind.
I suggest "Paranoid Android", totally curious what you'd make of it. I can see Amber liking it and Jay looking like he did the first time he heard "Creep" 🤯
Radiohead are just the best. Please check out the Smiths, their songs have lovely melodies with sad words and Jonny Marr is a guitar genius! There is a light that never goes out and Heaven knows I’m miserable now. Another great Radio head song is fake plastic trees
Radiohead are the greatest band of the last thirty years - not my opinion, a simple fact. So progressive and experimental, but also just genius songwriters and musicians. Their music videos are also brilliant. Love OK Computer, but for me In Rainbows is the perfect album
Lots of Radiohead songs have very dark and depressing lyrics but sung over very mellow and beautiful instrumentation. It creates an interesting juxtaposition.
This is what I call an album song. It so beautifully ties together side 2 of the OK Computer album- which is, arguably, along with u2 's Achtung Baby, one of the 2 best, most complete albums of the 90's.
Radiohead, love them since the 90s, there music is insane, my altime favorite are GREEP, STREET SPIRIT, FAKE PLASTIC TREES, WEIRD HIGH AND DRY, TRUE LOVES WAIT TO MANY
You all have reacted to another Radiohead song..Street Spirit, it’s on your patreon page. Paranoid Android should be next followed by Karma Police, but they have a lot of great tracks. As others have said, OK Computer is one of the great all time albums
You guys should hit “Let Down” next. Sonically beautiful song with dark but uplifting lyrics Radiohead is one band lucky enough to have at least three masterpiece level albums
OK Computer is an album that is incredibly near and dear to my heart. Oh, man. It was on repeat on my Discman (yes, a Discman, it was during the 90's 😅), and I loved every track with every note played. Edit: Check out Exit Music from the same album.
“A handshake of carbon monoxide” is such defeated lyric and it’s sang in the most beautiful way. No Surprises is the perfect “drift off into oblivion” song.
Funny you describe it as a lullaby. The 'jingle' is used as a lullaby to sing Baby David to sleep by his parents in the hilarous sitcom The Royle Family.
I’m not a Radiohead fan but I was at a festival they headlined and when they did this song it was sunset and I was on a ferris wheel. It was a movie moment. Almost teared up
Well now you've done hard radiohead with Creep and soft radiohead with this one. Their sound varies in such amazing ways - I would do "Jigsaw Falling into Place" next
At last another Radiohead! For me,the best band in history along with The Beatles, for consistency of creativity and sound. Also they do some amazing clips. The song, for me, is about the bananlity of desirng a life that contains no alarms and no surprises, yet in such a life you are slowly drowning and don't even know it.
So many more to react to "Exit Music (for a film)" "High and Dry" "Street Spirit" "Fake Plastic Trees" "Paranoid Android" and many more. Totally original band. Much love from England 🏴
PLEASE react to 'Street Spirit' - it is truly haunting.....the medoly combined with Thom's voice will penetrate your soul. It really showcases Thom's vocal range - it's simply a Masterpiece!. Also, you gotta react to 'Paranoid Android' and 'Karma Police' - Radiohead can do things that other bands can't. They almost need a genre of their own....that's how unique they are.
Radiohead is my fav band ever!! Be sure and watch the In Rainbows Basement sessions so you can see just how musically gifted they are!! My suggestions are Paranoid Android live from Jools Holland video :) and 15 Step live at the Grammy Awards. Also, be sure and have a watch or listen to The Smile which is Jonny and Thom's side band. Very very cool.
Weird Fishes (from the basement session especially) is just sublime, The Tourist gives me goosebumps, Paranoid Android for it's grandeur... Just a brilliant band...
Amber, if you want to go on a Pink Floydish journey that might melt your mind, check out Weird Fishes Arpeggi off In Rainbows. So glad you guys finally made it to Radiohead. The rabbit hole is as deep as it gets.
Man, this song was on the radio just yesterday! 'What will Jordan and Amber think of this lullaby?' came to my mind. Well, I didn't have to wait long for an answer 😀 "Karma Police" was another hit by them.
OK Computer is the soundtrack to my late teenage years - such an epic album that's worth a listen start to finish - much like any Pink Floyd album!! I must suggest WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE'S ROMEO + JULIET from 1996 starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes! It's a quirky, modern take on the classic tragedy and the soundtrack is AMAZING!! Radiohead is featured on it and the song "End Credits (For A Film)" on OK Comp is the "uncredited" song playing during the end credits of WSR+J. I hope you add these to your list to view some day - best wishes and keep smiling!
He guys, radiohead is the best band ever. You should absolutly try the next songs: Fake Plastic Trees | Street Spirit(fade out) | Airbag | Exit Music(for a film) | Let Down | Paranoid Android | Karma Police | Everything in it's right place | How to disapeare completly | Idioteque | 2 + 2 = 5 | There, there | Pyramid Song | Lotus Flower | Weird Fishes/Arpeggi | All I Need | Reckoner | Jigsaw falling in to Peaces | Burn the witch | Dayreaming. Those a allasterpieces
Knowing the amount of takes and frustration to film this video (that you can see in a fragment on Meeting People is Easy), the smile in Thom Yorke face in the last verses feels like a triumph, not only for the video and the song, but for the struggles, near death experiencies and post reborn feeling after a really difficult period.
I don't say this about many albums, but OK Computer is a masterpiece.

Radiohead such an epic band and so underated this guys make music magic
No Surprises is my go to song on OK Computer. Followed by Exit Music for a Film…
House of Cards, Paranoid Android, Airbag, Exit Music (for a film), Optimistic, How To Disappear Completely, Weird Fishes/Arpeggi, Daydreaming....really can't go wrong with Radiohead!
90s… best decade of music… proven right here.
Great band. I really hope u guys do "Weird Fishes/Arpeggi" from them sometime. Most of their songs, if not all, are very cinematic.
Radiohead are the greatest band of the last thirty years - not my opinion, a simple fact. So progressive and experimental, but also just genius songwriters and musicians. Their music videos are also brilliant. Love OK Computer, but for me In Rainbows is the perfect album
This album is one of the greatest of all time. It really is just that good.
Fake Plastic Trees, High and Dry, Bulletproof, I Promise 💜
Radiohead, love them since the 90s, there music is insane, my altime favorite are GREEP, STREET SPIRIT, FAKE PLASTIC TREES, WEIRD
HIGH AND DRY, TRUE LOVES WAIT TO MANY
You all have reacted to another Radiohead song..Street Spirit, it’s on your patreon page. Paranoid Android should be next followed by Karma Police, but they have a lot of great tracks. As others have said, OK Computer is one of the great all time albums
Street Spirit penetrates your soul!
You guys should hit “Let Down” next. Sonically beautiful song with dark but uplifting lyrics
Radiohead is one band lucky enough to have at least three masterpiece level albums
'Planet Telex' off The Bends is incredible.
One of the most genuinely relaxing and calming songs with intelligent lyrics. It always just makes you go 😮💨 Ok…I feel emotional yet better now…
So many more to react to "Exit Music (for a film)" "High and Dry" "Street Spirit" "Fake Plastic Trees" "Paranoid Android" and many more. Totally original band. Much love from England 🏴
Karma Police and Paranoid Android are great tracks to hear taken from the brilliant OK Computer album
I've always seen The Bends, OK Computer and Kid A as a quasi trilogy. Dehumanization, isolation and alienation. Welcome to the 21st century.
❤ Love Radiohead. Great band
Another great Radiohead song is Fake Plastic Trees. One of my favs.
Greatest band of all-time IMO. Throw all their songs in a hat and pick one. You can't go wrong.
Superb band, many great songs can pick any of them to listen and enjoy. One of my favourites is Fake Plastic Trees. A pure gem.
Fake plastic trees or paranoid android should be next. The rabbit hole is deep with radiohead
Soooou amazing ❤😂i love Radioed
Weird Fishes (from the basement session especially) is just sublime, The Tourist gives me goosebumps, Paranoid Android for it's grandeur... Just a brilliant band...
High and Dry is another great song
Amber, if you want to go on a Pink Floydish journey that might melt your mind, check out Weird Fishes Arpeggi off In Rainbows. So glad you guys finally made it to Radiohead. The rabbit hole is as deep as it gets.
"Just" is a killer tune
Weird fishes/arpeggio live in the basement is one you should watch to see what a great band they are.
Melancholy rather than depressed is how I feel when I listen to this it's relaxing.
Fake Plastic Trees is an excellent gateway entry point for Radiohead
Their concert "on the basement" a complete delight.
Definition of Radiohead? Beautiful, imaginative, sadness...
You both need to just do a tonne more of them
He guys, radiohead is the best band ever.
Absolutely more Radiohead please.
The “get me out of here” backing vocals are genius.
Feels like they’re casting a spell in this song. Straight hypnotized
“Fade Out” is amazing, and the video is top ten for sure.
