This week started off with the inauguration of the Ram Mandir by the dear leader, and our usual suspects could not stop fawning over it. So, we decided to take a trip down memory lane.
While the primetime TV anchors were seen in a jubilant mood this week, praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making the “Ram Mandir dream” come true, not all of them were always excited about the idea of building the temple. We took a look at their past statements.
Republic TV’s Arnab called the BJP’s campaign to build the Ram Mandir a broken record in 2015, while ANI editor Smita Prakash once said Uttar Pradesh needs more IITs and IIMs instead of a grand temple. More surprisingly, those like Sudhir Chaudhary and Gaurav Bhatia were also not very fascinated by the idea of building the Ram Mandir but only recently changed their views.

Think again by ditching your biases for a while and then conclude whether the Arnab of 2013 was really a great example of journalism.

Thank you for bringing out how BJP carefully played the anti-corruption sentiment and down played the fundamentalist image to come to power. Once in power they knew that all these press reporters will fall at your feet. Your research work and presentation deserves much appreciation. Independent media is the need of the hour.

Great video as always, just to point out IIT Varanasi was founded in 1919 as Banaras Engineering college which became Institute of Technology BHU in 1968 and finally was “designated” IIT BHU in 2012. So no IITs were actually built in UP after 2010….just “name change”

Ranganathan still stands by that statement. He said so this month as well in Sham Sharma’s podcast. His point is that razing a masjid was illegal but fighting a legal battle in court is justified. And he goes to say that if there is a temple that was built by demolishing a masjid, he would stand with the muslims categorically to reclaim that masjid.

The biggest problem with media reporters has been the fact that these people keep on criticizing the opposition party and supporting the party in power.
The real scrutiny and criticism should ALWAYS be for the ruling party because this is what will make the party feel like they actually have to develop.
