  • Check out this new Peterbilt 579 Ultraloft which is 1 of 37 of its kind being added to our Prime Inc. Fleet! Due to COVID, the truck manufacturers were all closed temporarily which has caused a backlog in the industry for truck orders. We wanted to take advantage of acquiring this group of trucks which another carrier had ordered but couldn't take delivery of right now. Van Gertner and Seth Elliot from the Larsen Group Peterbilt help give a tour of this truck and the special features and upgrades you will find in this set of 37 new trucks.
    Highlights of the special edition Prime Peterbilt's (from Prime’s normal standard truck):
    • Smart Air | EPU - Electric Power Unit (www.tlgtrucks....)
    • Auto Start/Stop
    • Fuel Fired Sleeper Heater
    • Factory 1800 Watt Inverter with Shore Power
    • Factory Refrigerator
    • Stainless steel quarter fenders
    • Air Disc Breaks all around
    • Bendix Wingman Fusion with Side Sensor
    • Keyless Entry
    • Leather Seats; drivers and passengers
    • Aero Closeouts under the Cab/Sleeper to help with fuel economy
    Right now, these trucks are being offered to drivers eligible for upgrade to a team truck (a PSD with at least 30k training miles). We have filled 8 already with new company driver teams. Want to team but need a codriver? Fill out our team driver interest form here: www.primeinc.c.... There is limited availability so if you are interested and want to team up and drive one of these reach out to your Fleet Manager today for more info or comment below.

      I think it’s funny all the people who get on here and complain about the safety features that Prime installs on their trucks... knowing we both know your credit suxs and this is the only way for you to feel like an owner operator. If you don’t like what they do move on and find another company to lease purchase a truck from. I don’t work for Prime but the video was just showing everyone the new features they feel are important. Work on your credit and go buy your own truck then you can install everything you want on your truck!

    You won’t regret going to disc brakes I previously worked for Prime and another company that had all drum brakes , the company I work for now has been running disc brakes for years and they are much more better the don’t delay/grab as much they are more powerful and most of all don’t get nearly as hot on Mountain grades . We haul fuel in WNC so it’s mountains roads at gross weight all day . Only side affects are possible cost and they will leave lots of dust on the wheels . And to boot I found DOT likes them as well had one in NC that was going to do a level 2 inspection and said “ oh you have disc brakes that means I don’t have to get under the truck to measure travel so I’m writing it as a level 1 “ clean level 1 inspection!!

    Is it true that full size trucks are only available to lease purchase and team drivers and that company drivers get mid roofs with half sleepers?

    • @PRIMEINCTRUCKING
      @PRIMEINCTRUCKING  4 роки тому +1

      We use mid-roofs in our Flatbed Division. We have full-size and lightweight trucks available on the company side most of the time, but for solo refrigerated company drivers, we typically place them in lightweight trucks. You can request a full-size especially if you are going to team or have a permanent passenger on the truck. We will do our best to fulfill the request for company drivers, but it just depends on truck inventory when you are looking to upgrade. The past few months have been rough on our truck inventory since most truck and parts manufacturers closed for 1-2 months due to COVID-19. We are finally catching up and getting back on track. We appreciate everyone's patience as we worked through this unprecedented time in trucking.

    • @PRIMEINCTRUCKING
      @PRIMEINCTRUCKING  4 роки тому +1

      In this case it was probably do to customer preference, guessing as these trucks were built for another customers preference in mind originally they were put in that location.

      On the normal spec, it is typically located inside the cab, due to your preference. Our rep's assumption was for the other type that the customers may have been in a slip seat type situation where trucks are not assigned to a specific driver. The outside location would make it easier for a yard manager to go around and turn off the batteries without having to have keys for each truck as he is checking the lot.

When you order a truck from Success Leasing, this is an option that you can add to the truck. We try to watch what we make standard on trucks as it is forcing whoever leases that truck to pay for that option while making it as an option gives the operator the choice to pay for it or not.

    Only for teams. Meh. That kills the luxury part then. I want a smart air system rather than the apu. Apu doesnt cool worth crap in the summer if you drive at night and sleep in the day. Especially when my wife is in the top bunk. My truck jas another 100000 miles before it hits the 300000 mark though. So maybe by next year the systems will be better.

      Death Proof my APU turns the bunk into a freezer. You are correct about the upper bunk though, it gets hot. Isn’t this just opti idle? BTW, what happens at 300k miles? I’m at 320k.

      It has an EPU so it will be a little different than our normal trucks. We are testing out this new functionality, and it's thought to work best with the team model. As always, we like testing new technology out with a small group of drivers before implementing tech to the whole fleet. It will be interesting to see how this works and how well the drivers like it.

      We have drivers that make far above minimum wage and are very successful, but we may not be the perfect fit for everyone. There are so many options in the trucking industry, and we encourage anyone looking to join a company to do their research, look at reviews online, talk to drivers, etc. so you can make the best choice for you. wwwtruckingtruth.com is a great resource to check into if you are new to trucking or looking to switch companies.

      Thanks for watching the video! You're definitely entitled to your opinion. We do a lot of research and testing before implementing new trucks, tech, and features, but we're not a perfect fit for everyone here in trucking. We have had an overwhelming majority of drivers that love our switch from manual to autos. Some drivers were not huge fans of the switch a few years ago, but we hear a lot of positive feedback which is great. Hope you have an awesome day! Safe travels.

    ......and the suckers are still coming. Little or NO chance of succeeding as an O/O with Prime's Never-Never Plan. All you end up doing is paying for the truck which Prime will re-sell to the next sucker when you fail. Do the math........avoid Prime.

      Hi Ross. We apologize for any negative experience you have had with us. We take our driver's success and company culture very seriously here at Prime. Please email communications@primeinc.com with more information so we can learn more and attend to any issues.

    • @7892rl

      I have had no experience with Prime whatsoever and the reason for that is because I am a fully experienced trucker with @46 years trucking with the last 23 years
      as an O/O. Prime is not the only company operating a Never Never Plan to young, inexperienced people who think they will become rich and famous AND drive a brand new shiny, fancy truck to learn the job in.The reality of the situation however is much different. After all of the "expenses" are deducted by the employer these "truckers" are making no more than a company driver driving a company truck. The old saying " the devil is in the details" applies . Prime makes it so easy for these mostly unqualified and unprepared young people to go into huge debt that the failure rate is high. Prime has a thriving used truck sales dept and I do NOT wonder why.....@@PRIMEINCTRUCKING

    • @PRIMEINCTRUCKING
      @PRIMEINCTRUCKING  3 роки тому

      Hi Ross. We aren't quite sure what you mean by "Never Never" plan. Our drivers are able to make the decision between driving as a company driver or going with the leasing route. There are perks to both sides of the equation. We apologize for any negative experience you've had while leasing a truck, but we have many drivers that are happy and successful while leasing. Thank you for your feedback!

    • @7892rl
      @7892rl 3 роки тому

      Just to be clear....you administer a Never Never plan but you say you don't know what that is??? ( you should be running for office) The plan is leasing new, fancy, easy to drive trucks to under qualified and inexperienced people that end up NEVER owning the truck and therefore NEVER make a decent living. The owner of the truck (guess who) will always come out ahead on the deal.I would hazard a guess that 90% or higher of your owner operators end up giving the truck back with money owing and you simply sell or 'lease" it to the next noob that walks in the door. One of MANY reasons you DO NOT attract any experienced or competent O/O to your fleet. Prime"s reputation out on the road in lower than a snake's belly.

    Epu... No thanks. Having to plug it in while on home time? That's not good. With teams, the truck never stops. Bad placement of the inverter... If my inverter is overloading I want to be able to hear it. If it shorts out, I want to be able to hit it with a fire extinguisher if needed. Putting it under the bunk is a recipe for disaster. Give me a keypad to punch a code in, the dial system is going to break and then you're screwed. I will take a Freightliner over this new fancy truck any day of the week. Epu... NEVER... Diesel Apu is much more reliable and easy to replace if necessary. All this fancy electrical stuff is a problem when it breaks.

    • @PRIMEINCTRUCKING
      @PRIMEINCTRUCKING  4 роки тому

      We've got plenty of Freightliners in the fleet so fear not. 😀 Like we said in the video, we are testing several features out with these trucks which were already spec'd by another carrier who wasn't able to take delivery of them. We wanted to take advantage of getting additional trucks since the factories have been behind due to Covid. Thanks for watching the video!
