No, there is no savior or destroyer outside (in this case, something demonic). There is no eternal love to be seen there either. The universal, the metaphysical theme of rebirth, then the theme of dual souls - love, the counterpart of 'fear', is not external, certainly not to be found. It is already all within oneself. In order to achieve mature adult love, it is necessary to look within. You cannot hope outside to find someone who loves you more than you love yourself. That is why, using the glass example, in a state of deficiency, it is not possible to fill up with something from someone else. Above all, Norman looks for the love on the outside that he does not feel for himself on the inside. Little by little, like an addict, he has to fill his half-empty glass with someone else. This is not true love, but what is called "romantic love." A trading company, "Take away my fear, I'll take away yours." - It's about blowing confetti into your own hair (neither of them can do that), being complete with healthy boundaries, standards. And not to put your needs above your own values. And then without fail get involved with a woman who is not an addict herself, who is looking for salvation outside. Through a guru, therapist or a new love. - So Norman and this woman both are doomed. And when there is an exit from the Twilight Zone, both of them get to know someone again because of the resonance, and a new drama begins, where it started so beautifully in the beginning. A new drama with replaced characters.
I quickly noticed he made a slight mistake when he wrote the number down from the TV commercial. I expected the statue to come to life, nope, had me fooled.
Plot twist: Mary Ann is calling from an island in the Pacific. Her friend the Professor has hooked up communications with the outside world, and Mary Ann has become a siren, using the phone to lure men to the island, from which there's no escape... Okay, I'm gonna watch the movie now. Had to get that off my chest. 😝🤣⚓
@miapdx503 - Victim, perpetrator? Mary Ann as a victim of her childish, wounded ego. Out of fear, looking for salvation outside... Another child in an adult's body resonates with her...
No, I disagree, I think the coworker has the opposite problem as Norman. Norman is lonely but his coworker is surrounded by people at home. He even admits this to Norman but he gives Norman great advice about meeting the caller. Also, the coworker needs his salary to take care of his five children plus his wife so he needs to work hard and be excellent at his job so his employer won't replace him. He may live paycheck-to-paycheck. Norman only has to worry about his and his pet's expenses.
What about Norman's parakeet? I have a parakeet, and I think it's sad enough that Norman kept the bird in a cage. (At this moment, my bird is sitting on the fan behind me, trying to mimic the speech patterns he hears on UA-cam.) I hate to think that Norman's poor bird will die of thirst before any of the neighbors realize that Norman is missing.
Jerry Mills best comment ever lol. This is the Twilight zone.....Are you in the Matrix? The bird you notice bahahaha. I'm rolling down the river here. 1 Start from the beginning. 2 don't notice bird. 3 notice the kiss. Be careful now. You walk amongst us lol. Rod Sterling, you may not understand, or are old enough??? Lol thank you!!
Debbe Long, You seem unaware of a literary concept called crystalization. Crystalization is the "if only..." element than beshadows an otherwise victorious outcome. In the novel "Ivanhoe," the protagonist was victorious in the major struggle, but the reader is left with the thought that Ivanhoe was unable to marry the woman he loved because she was Jewish. In the movie "Absence of Malice," Paul Newman's character was victorious over the unscrupulous news reporter, editor, and police investigator, but the viewer is left with sadness over a woman committing suicide because of a leaked news article about her. In the "Twilight Zone" episode, two lonely people were brought together, but a pet was abandoned and probably died as a result. There's no virtue or reward in shallowness. The more depth of thought you bring to a story, the more you can get out of it.
No, I think either someone at work will notice his absence from work without an explanation. They would consider the possibility that he needs medical attention and they would notify the landlord or family member. At this point they would place the bird with someone who would take care of it until it was determined that Norman wasn't coming home. Norman didn't seem like he missed much work. Someone would realize that something is wrong.
Who rlse thoght was hard to keep watching.. knowing those souls who did wrong or did themselves wrong are in a very dark place.. lost.. until it was time for all to rise? 😞 Human life is so fragile.. we’re nothing but masses of sentiments battling through life holding on with faith in our hearts praying things will be bright on the other page of this life. Take care of yourselves, people.. because the life beyond this one we’d known since time began is all about you.. your own self. Decorate it with good deeds.. and live it peacefully by staying close with our Creator.. Allah .. Allah alone.. next to no other.

The apartment super let himeself into Norman’s appartment. All they found was a bronze parakeet. 😂
At 15:55 When you realize you bird's a bit of a BRASS😢😳😍😘🎭
I'm Larry and this is my brother Darryl and this is my other brother Darryl.
Gary Bruyere I know rite!!!😭😭😭
@@Shanim, I'm their unknown sister Carryl!
@@Shanim, J.R. Sebastion, "Blade Runner" he played his part like a perfect fit glove. He actually made his comic role on "Newhart" disappear to me.
It's J.F., Oops!
The only thing this episode needed was Bob Newhart as the security guard.
I'm crying, right now...

If this were a Night Gallery episode he would have ending up sitting with the wrong statue, horrors! It is nice to have a happy ending.
I quickly noticed he made a slight mistake when he wrote the number down from the TV commercial. I expected the statue to come to life, nope, had me fooled.
"I quickly...", "I expected...", "...had me..." - I see. Ego watched TV
That would have been nice. If the statue came to life!
Same guy who plays the killer postal worker in the episode “Blood” of the X-Files. One of those very every-man kind of actors. That hair though...
Yes, that was a good episode. Thanks for reminding me. I will search for it online again. He has a strong presence and sweet dialect.
..that was sad...but happy ending 😇👍
Great Thought provocative episode.
Nice guy!
Oh oh oh! Watch what you dial.
This episode was amazing I remember
It was the music and flying objects for me as a child that scared me more than the movie 😂😂
Written by JMS, and with "JF Sebastian". Nice. 🙂
BEST TV shows ever can't touch it 😂
Norman played Larry on the Bob Newhart Show. "I`m Larry, this is my brother Daryl and this is my other brother Daryl".
thanks for sharing
Poor budgie 😢
It's Larry from NEWHART , 🆒
His coworker is a jerk but also represents 90% of the people I work with.
this is really true. So is the world of work...
@@chtansey10Lol but pets can be expensive.
When he first appeared with the status, I guessed that this episode of this series would end like this...
I think, both left this world in a sad way like she did first ...
It was haunting and meaningful. I'll always remember it.
OH (la cinquième dimension ) in french I use to watch when I was kid in late seventies early eighties
OK I'll ask it ... will the security guard and staff not go "wtf" when there's all of a sudden 2 statues instead of 1
I guess they informed the X-Files ... the 2 statues Mulder & Scully
Not in the twilight zone
In the twilight zone it was always two statues Norman has always been a statue just a creative one
above their pay grade. lol
Considering the security guard thinks finding an open door after hours is no big deal...
Ol' Norman got catfished lol
😂😂😂thought the same thing too!!
@nelsonkiiru7252 Your comment brought me back here. I had to re-watch in order to get my own joke! 😂 Thanks!
You could see how disappointed he was when he went there after dark and she was still a statue. Which begs the question of how she answered the phone.
Hello, I'm Larry. This is my brother Darryl, and this is my other brother Darryl.
You're about the 100th person to crack this same joke.
OMG! It’s “Newhart” Larry!

What I wanna know is where is his brother Darryl, and his other brother Darryl?
Beautiful
THE ARTWORK FINALY WAS COMPLETE 😁😂
I remember him from Blade Runner.
It`s all very well, but what about the Budgie?
We should not live in fear. God is real, Love is real. The rest is a dream.
She should have talked to the other brother Darryl.
F.D. English 🤣🤣🤣
sana all
He wrote down the wrong number
Sheesh. Morbid story.
❤Power of Love❤
@annlove4879 - your profile shows 'Power of Love'.
I'm cautious about Norman and Mary-Ann. Both are in a state of deficiency, both need another, like addicts.
@@Shanim They are meant to be together. Love brought them to one another and it is Kismet. Destiny. No one can stand in the way of lovers. No one.

Did anyone notice that Maryann's face looks like him?
I feel for the guy with five kids. I work at an elementary school. So when I drive home I keep the radio off.
Norman is Larry from Newhart.
