In 1961, when I was six years old, I was taken up into a ship, just outside Rockliffe Airbase, where we lived, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. All these many years, the truth about these encounters has remained hidden. May disclosure happen, soon!

Thank you so much for posting these shows. It brings back some super great memories of my childhood, a very special time in my life. I'm 68 now and not that healthy and it's hard for me to just get around, but when I'm watches the episodes of One Step Beyond that you posted brings me back to the 1950s with my younger sister, and our parents were still together and we were happy and couldn't wait for our favorite TV shows to come on. We had an old black and white TV and a anetene (sp). TVs hadn't been out yet until some time in the late 1940s. Our little basement apartment was cozy and warm in the winter. I've probably have bored you and your readers into a coma. Just wanted you to know how much your postings mean to me. Thanks for letting me be a happy kid again. God bless!

DaddySpyce....I'm almost 67 and I can empathize with your longing for the 'happy kid' times. I have fond memories of getting up early on Saturday morning in the 50's, and in the colder months, literally sitting on top of a small heater and watching The Adventures of Superman starring George Reeves. Then we had to grow up....LOL..!!

Today I watch, enjoy and get more out of these shows than I did as a child, altho I did enjoy them back then too. Wrong; this show was always ahead of its time; it still is; just only now the idiots in the military are finally admitting in other world craft;after covering it up since the beginning. I knew that over 60 years ago before this show was even a thought in anyone's mind. Many fighter pilot's planes after engaging have either been destroyed or manipulated. They finally learned you don't engage anymore; just monitor and track. They call it abduction now; and it has been going on since before man has been genetically created. Since before this planet was Terra formed and used as a lab.

I had this stuff fall all around my tree farm, it came down in clumps and it was all falling from one point above where nothing could be seen. One day a year later I saw in roughly the same location a shiny metallic sphere sitting still about 500' up, it looked to be 6' in diameter. I looked at it for a few seconds then zip, it shot east out of sight almost instantly.

My mother believed what she saw, but never spoke about it.

He looked at them through a rifle scope and they shot straight up out of site so fast no human could have survived it. Saw 3 again in early 80s one evening with 3 other adults. Same scenario . Light changing pulses fast impossible maneuvers accelerate and stop. Reversing. And then . Gone so fast it was a streak.

No: nowadays they give unskilled actors marginal scripts and call it reality TV. I pulled the plug on satellite and cable years ago and save not only money but braincells; today's "entertainment" is an insult to nominal intelligence. It might save our culture to see a widespread return of "the classics."

+pickford 31 Age is a number and pretty much a relative concept when you get right down to it. There is no substitute for a good story, well told. Unfortunately a lot of people have lost sight of that and use filth and shock value to conceal gaping holes in storyline and character development. The old schoolers-- many long before my time as well--were masters, plain and simple. Rarely did they take the cheap and easy way out.

One of actors in the "Encounter" segment of "ONE STEP BEYOND" is Micheal Forest, who made himself popular as "Apollo" in "STAR TREK"s "Who Mourns For Adonis?" in 1967. Forest also guest-starred on "THE TWILIGHT ZONE" ("Black Leather Jackets"), and "THE OUTER LIMITS" ("It Crawled Out Of The Woodwork"). It seems in those days when something had a chance of exposing truths, they denied, hid and cajoled the public into believing "No way"....something like today?

I respectfully disagree. Twilight Zone had better writers. Each episode usually had a touch of irony at the end, or the unexpected. I recently discovered this OSB, and have watched many episodes. I don't find them as entertaining as TZ. I've enjoyed a few episodes, including 'The Voice' and 'Earthquake'. Maybe OSB appeals more to those who are attracted to the supernatural or aliens.

They tried to recreate the series WITH John Newland at the helm, in 1978's Next Step Beyond. It was a disaster -- utterly forgettable. I think OSB is a product of its time and the people who came together in that one moment to create it, and can't be duplicated. But I do agree with Bob Anderson that if it WAS revived, the music must remain the same.

Anyone notice the music used (example at mark 17:15) - it is a lot like the music used later in parts of Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Interestingly, One Step Beyond used this sound throughout their series. I would not be surprised to learn that this was perhaps the influence for its use in Close Encounters of the Third Kind too.
There's a scene in CETK, where Roy and Jillian flee from the 'contaminated containment town' to search the back road, where they come face-to-face with Devils Tower for the first time - it is here we hear a tiny bit of this music - not the same, but very similar in tone.
We know that both Lucas and Spielberg used countless older movies as an influence for their later movie projects; from westerns to war and old Ray Harryhausen and other sci-fi creators and animators. I would say, those in movie makers who do their research of older movies first have a lot of influence to draw from and upon in all its styles, characters, and sounds.
Also, there are elements of 'Fire In The Sky' references from this show to the movie and accounts too. Interestingly enough, in nearly every vintage UFO and Alien classic movie, there is a modern 'real story' account of someone claiming it happened to them; from sightings of UFOs to Aliens, to abductions to implants, and so on -- is is all 'subliminal plagiarism' or false memories, or just wild imaginations? I don't know, but too many old stories from the past too similar to modern-day stories to be believed as credible.

November 16th 1953 ..." are dates was in past. Huh? So when did this event occur? This episode of "One Step Beyond" was originally broadcast in April, 1960, 17 months before the first well-known UFO abduction case of Betty and Barney Hill (September 1961), but which didn't first make headlines in the Boston Traveller until October 25, 1965.

Also, in 1961 a Soviet mail plane - an Antov An-2P, a small transport plane - disappeared. Taking off from Sverdlovsk (Russia), it was bound for Kurgan. After flying about 128-160 km, and after the pilot has communicated with the ground control, the plane disappeared from radar. A search operation proved fruitless. But 2 days later the plane turned up in the area of Tobelak (Siberia). All the mail was intact and the motor had fuel for another 2 hours of flight and ran fine, but plane's pilot and 3 passengers were missing. (This was reported by Alberto Fenoglio in 1962, Derek Mansell in 1965) and in the Flying Saucer Review in 1967)

tapolna....the writer of the script most likely remembered Siam and just incorporated it into the script, which was also probably written between 1953-1960. This is what writers do...they draw from a lot of knowledge and information and weave stories from it and not always too concerned about strict historical or chronological order. The abduction angle was almost prophetic, but I would imagine that the writer was also familiar with the science fiction genre that had all kinds of stories about that, so he perhaps drew on that information as well. Of course, the writer could also have been a time traveller from our future and knew about Betty and Barney Hill...LOL..!!

I've always thought it was funny - almost strange - how most people think that an Airplane Pilot can and should be able to fly a helicopter. That's like saying a driver of a Volvo can also drive an 18-Wheeler. Or - better yet - a person driving a Ferrari can also drive a skate board. The fact that something flies or roles on wheels has nothing to do with one's ability to do one - thus do all. Helicopters are extremely special compared to an airplane.
