    Here we go, Kripple Krew! I've got some stuff to get caught up on, so figured we'd do a Bonus 2nd Video today!
    The @ROCKTOLTOOLS GenR 27-in-1 Multitool should be at the TOP of the shopping list for anyone looking for a high-quality tool with upgraded blade steel. VG10 is a fantastic upgrade to the standard 440s and 420s series or 3Cr steels you see on MANY multitools. The toolset is well thought out and highly useful. I think $45 is a STEAL for this tool, but you get to take an EXTRA 10% off of that with code EDCWITHDBD10 - buy a bunch, cuz this is one of the best EDC gifts to give this year!

    I tell you what I’ll do. I’ll go buy six of these (about $240 worth). I’ll run six different tests. Each time the Roktol fails you pay me $240 to buy the failed one from me. And each time the Roktol beats the Arc, I’ll pay you $240.
    We’ll test:
    Plier strength. I’ll start cutting the same thing in each tool. I’ll apply the same measured pressure to each set of plier handles. We’ll stop when one breaks.
    Blade hardness. We’ll test the blade hardness with a scratch test.
    Blade sharpness retention. We’ll cut the same things with each blade, then check to see if we can still get a clean cut in paper.
    One handed use. I’ll measure the time it takes to access and fully deploy each tool one handed.
    Blade strength. I’ll jam the blade one inch into a piece of wood, then hang weights on the end of the tool. We’ll see which one breaks first.
    I’ll measure how long it takes to get a replacement under warranty (how much time do I have to spend chasing down someone plus how long do I have to wait for the replacement).
    I’ll video everything I do and put it up on UA-cam.

      Let's see, the ARC would have to perform 6X each Rocktol before it was even. If they were exactly head to head, the Rocktol would also cost $240. Instead, the Rocktol is intended for those who want a quality tool for a FRACTION of the ARC cost. Funny how only Leatherman folks got so worked up about it.

    • @EverettVinzant
      @EverettVinzant Місяць тому +2

      @The problem with your math…
      Is that tools fail during use. I’m not stupid enough to buy a tool knowing it’ll fail in routine use. Geee… 6x40 is $240…
      But what is the injury that cheaper tool causes worth? Why don’t you address that? I don’t buy junk like this, because I’m not interested in the injury.
      You claimed it was a scam, and provided no evidence. I watched to the end waiting for it.
      It’s amazing how passive the Roctool crowd is about buying junk that can cause injury. It’s sad for you to think you’re worth so little… Pay now, or pay later, but I guarantee you’ll pay.

      "knowing it'll fail in routine use" shows me you have zero experience with it and are no different than the Benchmade fanboys whose panties get twisted when any knife is compared to a Bugout. It's cool you like LM, but judging anything based solely on price and feeling the need to ATTACK it is clown behavior homie. 🤡Have a killer day 👊

    Very cool. I'd love to see them come out with a Style PS equivalent... that was very small, no blade for TSA compliance, and had tweezers along with pliers and scissors. There must be a market because a used Style PS, which was $20 new, sell for $70 now. The Gerber Dime is a crappy quality near miss with no tweezers.

    When you have to open the pliers to use anything on the inside, it gets old quick. P4 and arc are so much quicker. These can be good bench tools. But as far as EDC. Nothing beats a P4, ARC.

    • @EDCwithDBD
      @EDCwithDBD  Місяць тому +1

      In toughness, yes. It's not as far off in edge retention and corrosion resistance at 60HRC as you'd think. The fact that the price is accessible to everyone makes up for the edge retention lost. At least I think so, but I appreciate you sharing your thoughts! 👊#staydeadly

    Is the galvonox bit extender compatible with this

    • @EDCwithDBD
      @EDCwithDBD  29 днів тому +2

      No, as it does not have the flat bit driver like Leatherman (unless it can also fit in a 1/4" driver sideways and I'm unaware). However, there are dozens of bit extensions available on Amazon at the same price or less that would provide the same capability. Thanks for watching! 👊 #staydeadly

      Yes, just search 1/4" bit extension on Amazon. Ares, Diablo, WorkPro are just a few of the brands that have them, in different lengths as well. Those are all compatible.

    Great video! I picked one up a while ago,and it travels in my work bag. Although I carry a Leatherman Skeletool and Civivi Yonder, as my primary edc, I think this is a fantastic tool! Just one small issue with my unit was how difficult the blade was to open. After working with it, it's a lot better.

    I want to see stress test of this tool. It has 40 years warranty?

    • @EDCwithDBD
      @EDCwithDBD  Місяць тому +2

      It does not, but at under $45 I personally believe a 5 year warranty is fair. I haven't had it long enough to have stressed it yet and don't plan on intentionally trying to tear it up, but have heard from others who have hard used this model with very positive results. I have yet to hear from someone who had one fail on them. Anecdotal, I know, but folks usually come out of the woodwork if they have bad experience. Thanks for watching 👊#staydeadly

    The arc is like great if it fits your budget and you’ve got a lot of money to throw around. Like if you’re the CEO of Google, you might as well just get the arc. But if you’re just an average show, who needs it?

    • @EDCwithDBD
      @EDCwithDBD  Місяць тому +2

      That's makes a lot of sense. It's easier for me to spend $45 on a quality multitool than $240. Would I like an ARC? Sure! But the GenR is an awesome tool at a more palatable price 👊#staydeadly

    I bought one of these for my father, he hard uses them and I didn't want to buy him a super expensive one. I already have a Rocktol 29-1. I'm happy with it although it flexes a lot when trying to apply torque. I like Leatherman, but the ARC is way too expensive, and it flexes a lot too. I will never buy an Arc although they make it a tool for hard work like the Surge. However, I want to have a top notch multi-tool; I'm buying a Swiss Tool Victorinox. Thanks for the review.

    • @EDCwithDBD
      @EDCwithDBD  Місяць тому +2

      I would like to check out a Swiss Tool myself. This GenR from Rocktol is much more stable with less flex than the SK02. This feels like a top notch multitool when using. I haven't checked out an ARC because I'm also not willing to pay that price! Thanks for watching! 👊#staydeadly

    • @Renku07
      @Renku07 Місяць тому +1

      @@EDCwithDBD I didn't know that the GenR didn't flex that much. That's good for Rocktol customers then. I would buy it if I didn't already have one. The issue with the Arc is the money (of course), and then the fact that you have treat it like a queen in order for you not to break it. I saw a video of an Arc owner; he tried to tighten a nut with the Arc in open position. The Arc flexed so much that he had to stop to inhibit further damage. However, the Arc didn't flex in the closed position bc it has magnets that keep the handles from separating.

    Are the much more expensive leatherman multi tools THAT much better? Seems like the comments are 90 percent people desperately defending how much better a Leatherman is. But unless this thing just falls apart I fail to see how it’s that bad at a fifth the price or whatever.

    • @EDCwithDBD
      @EDCwithDBD  Місяць тому +3

      They are not. This same thing happens if you compare ANYTHING to Benchmade - then the BM fanboys go all screechy. The funniest part is that they haven't actually tried this tool. It's not Leatherman and not $240, so they have to attack it so they don't feel like they overpaid.
      I carried a Leatherman for 20 years. This GenR is nicer than my Leatherman Kick for sure. I have zero worries recommending it, especially at under $45!

      I have a Leatherman Arc, I also spent about half of my life living in China.. I know for a fact that I could go back to china, show my Leatherman Arc to a factory owner there and say "Make 10,000 of these, but put my name on it".. I could sell them at a much lower price, especially if I wanted to skimp on cheaper materials and make a fortune.. The video above shows an example of someone doing basically that.

    • @cranstonsnord4334

      I probably own about 50 Leatherman tools so I feel I can give a pretty good opinion on this subject. I also own a few Rocktol multitools, but not this one (yet!). I also do not own an Arc. I just do not think a multitool is worth 240 dollars. However, a year or so ago I bought a Leatherman Free P4 and it was 150, which is about my limit, but now I think it was money well spent. I will get an Arc at some point, but it will probably be a used one. I think Leatherman tools are better than these less expensive brands, but not always in proportion to what you pay. For example, I do not think the P4 is 110 dollars better than a 40 dollar multitool, but I still think the P4 is better. If I was going to go on a long camping or hiking trip, the Leatherman would be my choice over a cheaper tool. I would just have more trust that it would not fail under hard or prolonged use. For what I use a multitool for these days, none of them would fall apart. I am willing to pay a bit more also for something US made. Just my opinion, for what it is worth! Great video!!

      Yes. I just opened the pliers as well as every tool with my left hand, and I'm right handed. Flipping the pliers isn't as easy as the Free, but it's still easier than most of my other multitools. All of the outer tools are EXTREMELY easy to use one handed - again, even with my left hand, which sometimes feels functionally retarded to me 😆 👊 #staydeadly and thanks for watching!

  • @Genesis992

    It’s a tool using the same basic layout as Leatherman’s Charge. That in and of itself is a reason it won’t beat the Wave/Charge/Curl series.
    The Arc never claims to be aiming for a budget minded consumer. It actually explicitly claims to be aiming for the opposite end of the spectrum.
    It’s a flagship tool, using some of the best materials available, in a platform and layout Leatherman themselves created.
    Sure, you can offshore manufacturing, use an established design, and place yourself intentionally at a lower, more accessible, spot in the market, but that’s not gonna make the tool an Arc killer in any universe.

      I get what you're saying homie. Best bet is to pick one up and compare it yourself. 🤷🏼‍♂️ The best part about it is the cost is $200 less to try, and you still get an upgraded blade.
      To you and me, $240 for an ARC, or $300 for a Chavez knife doesn't seem crazy. A LOT of people have never spent $100 on a knife or a multitool, so this price point is far less intimidating.

    • @EDCwithDBD
      @EDCwithDBD  Місяць тому +2

      Have you tried the Rocktol before saying it's not worth $45? Doesn't sound like it...not everyone can or is willing to drop Leatherman money, and for those who can't it's great to have a quality competitor at a great price. I never said Leatherman want a good product, but that the Rocktol is a very good product especially for the cost. Leatherman fans have to go on attack, though, even though not one of them yet has tried the Rocktol 🤷🏼‍♂️

Probably, but so do Leatherman's flat bits. I plan to switch them out with Wiha bits after I've tested these longer. Will let you know homie! 👊#staydeadly

      It absolutely is and no one agrees with you. You're just a Leatherman fan boy. I get it, I have a crunch and I love it but $250 after tax and shipping is highway robbery for what you're getting. Also, their magnacut is soft. My friend has two, the obsidian and the regular and they both have soft steel. Also, they don't stand up to anything you throw at it, they break constantly. That's the real reason you get a 25 year warranty 😂 😂 Get real bro.
