Jean Luc brought our family up and continues to bring us together. Patrick Stewart teaches us about living fully, passionately, and with integrity. He is part of the fabric of our lives, regardless he doesn’t know us. We are grateful we know and love him.
He is truly one of a kind and a gift- on camera, in theatre and in life. A terrific writer as well. It’s a relief to see a celebrity who writes their own memoir with a unique style and authenticity.
"By that time I had 2 divorces...I was to blame for both of them" the way he says that and the way he looks down just hit me so hard. By all accounts a very humble and kind man, highly intelligent and loved the world over but still not without his flaws and regrets.
I am very grateful that you did television. I was in Jamaica as a child when i started watching and to this day I know i was getting glimpses of the age and time was to come and it’s now unfolding. It wasn’t just entertaining it was preparation for me and I’m very grateful. Hearing that as a child you did what i did, fly in your dreams and speak with thy and thou as someone that grew up in Ballard’s Valley Jamaica. Thanks Picard that came to us through Patrick
When rich tells Sir Patrick at the end...... "I hope you can find a little bit more grace and forgiveness for yourself, you owe that to yourself" I started sobbing. I know he was saying to him but I felt like he was saying it to me too. Such a thought provoking interview, really enjoyed it!
Very pleasant manner of speaking this man has. It's very easy to listen to him speak. Only two actors I can think of with this kind of voice. Sir Patrick Stewart being one, of course, and the other being Morgan Freeman.
I had a crush on the captain the minute I first saw him on tv back in the 80s and now Is just have the purest love for him!!!! Patrick Stewart has been one of the most beautiful parts of my journey, he's more beautiful today than the first time I saw him. Such a beautiful soul🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤.thank you for being such a beautiful human being.
I can't tell you how much I love this man. His life connects us to so much experience. And he is also one of the greatest Shakespeareans of our time. Precious man, beautiful soul
Thank you for bringing this interview to us. I knowhe is more than Star Trek, but STNG was and continues to be a huge part of my family's life. It was the first show my husband and I watched together while dating. Our kids grew up with it on all the time. We purchased the series on DVD and now watch it on streaming. We quote something from it almost daily. Sometimes a television show can be transformational.
I started listening to this podcast at lunch and my son stopped by my door and said; "Is that Patrick Stewart?...I'd know that voice anywhere!" Sir Patrick Stewart not reading his own audiobook would be...SCANDELOUS!!! :) Such an amazing man. My son's and I have been huge fans for years...virtually their entire lives. We listen to his audio rendition of "A Christmas Carol" every Christmas season...nobody does it better! Rich, you podcasts continue to be amazing. Keep insisting on having these authors you interview do their audiobooks as well. I remember way back when you debating Vinnie Tortorich who was insisting that he was not going to perform his audiobook. You insisted, he evetually did do it himself and that audiobook turned out to be very enjoyable. However, it would not have been nearly as effective or enjoyable had he not read it himself. I hope he thanked you :)
The reason I messaged my now husband on my dating app was because he reminded me so much of my crush of 20+ years on Sir Patrick Stewart. I love this man!!!
Today sir I hope you love being you as much as the rest of us love you as you are. Your natural being is what makes you you. 🎉❤😊. And today your the most beautiful soul!
This was a lovely interview. I felt like we got to know Sir Patrick in a way , perhaps, we hadn't known him before. I love that it was not so Star Trek focused but that Star Trek was mentioned as a vital part of his career. Well done! Sir Patrick is certainly a gift to us all, and we do not deserve him. I cried through many parts of his episode but none more than the final line "I hope you can find a little more grace and forgiveness for yourself, you owe that to yourself."
I recently listened on Spotify the sir Patrick Stewart book, fantastic to listen, what a life he's had,and so many times me & my family been down Stratford upon Avon only an hour drive sir Patrick Stewart did do the Shakespeare company & other well known fantastic actors. Well deserved being knighted.
Richard is an exeptional interviewer. And he gives voice to a collective audience who would thank Sir Stewart for the gift his openness and vulnerability is for the world at large. Well spoken and aptly noted. Thank you both for this beautiful interview.
40:30 I'm glad to hear (as a guy only from 8 miles where Sir Patrick was born) there's still a hint of Yorkshire vowels when he swears. Ah, proper grand!
Thanks for this interview. Patrick Stewart continues to be fascinating to me as a human being, even if I roll my eyes at the paranormal stuff (yeah, there’s a “confluence” going on… a confluence of people CHOOSING to believe in nonsense over reality, because it excites them in some way)… …but he’s human. Despite his extraordinary self-awareness, social wisdom, and brave vulnerability, there’s still imperfection, and the diversity of positives & negatives that comes from being imperfect living beings. I don’t think we usually get to know the people behind the names very often, and Patrick Stewart is one where the glimpses of the person are possibly quite a bit as noble as his portrayals in fiction.
A beautiful, honest and open conversation between two men who can and want to talk to each other. Patrick is an actor and that helps him to tell things in a way that makes you want to listen to him, he can do it! But what lies behind them are deep and honest, self-reflective answers that simply deserve respect. Not for the actor, not today :-) but certainly for the person. Thank you very much.
Wen I see Patrick Stewart I think Christmas as I remember being a child watching a Christmas carol movie starring him a great actor and man last year I saw his TikTok reading Christmas carol book so I red it for the first time too. He inspires
So beautiful, so guiding, thank you both for this conversation and thank you Rich Roll for your work; it is fast becoming a guiding light for me in my life.
One thing I have always had locked in as a question for a couple celebrities is ... "Are we ever going to see a Waiting for Godot released to the general public?". I learned about how Patrick and Ian McKellan did Beckett's Waiting for Godot a couple years after it was over and have always wanted to see it. It seems too precious to be hidden away in the NY Library Theater Archive.
Theater might have saved his life, he saved mine through his acting. In a violent home it brought this hope that there is life out there. Not so much in the sci-fi way, but that it's possible to become someone else. Slip on a personality, bring it to life, and make it meaningful. To choose who to be.
I was looking forward to this but also a little wary of what might be said. Sir Patrick did not disappoint. His real life personality is very much like he played Captain Picard - over time. I could see the same man in both roles. Rich, I love the way you talk to everyone you interview. You are the same down to earth guy no matter who is in front of you. I imagined it might be tempting to be more formal with such an accomplished actor and knight! You didn’t need to. It was perfect. You really have a flair for interviewing people. Great job. I thoroughly enjoyed this. And of course, I ordered his book. Thank you as always. 👏👊👍😎
I wish you’d let him finish his sentences and not interrupt him! He was about to tell us what he saw in his friends house as a child and you cut him off- he never got the chance to finish the story. Happened multiple times throughout this interview and was v frustrating.
Thank you Rich. I enjoyed the interview. Two surprising guests together with Arnold. However I did notice that you interrupted these two guests with your summaries and commentaries. While I still enjoyed the interviews, it was a little unpleasant to me at times. This is the first time I noticed this in your interviews. I wonder what has changed that caused this shift.

Getting Patrick on the show is big time

That voice. Familiar, soothing, engaging. Love this man, he was the father guide I didnt have.

Wow! Rich - your guest list is insane! I love the honesty and openness of this conversation.

Beautiful.. Reads like a loving and candid father and son conversation
One of Rich's best interviews

The man doing the interview is very honest, clear, and engaging.
Thankyou to both of you men for sharing and listening.
Love from Australia
I love to hear Sir Patrick. Very charming man.
I loved this. Rich is extremely intuitive and seems to understand things other interviewers seem to miss.
Smashing it with the guests at the moment, Rich. Keep up the good work!
The reason I messaged my now husband on my dating app was because he reminded me so much of my crush of 20+ years on Sir Patrick Stewart. I love this man!!!
I love that
Captivating Podcast. Love Patrick Stewart, I'm from the same town he is! thanks for sharing
Good to see Sir Stewart still out and about. Now he can teach.
Best captain ever!
“If a boy has been chosen…. A BOY SHALL BE KING!” 🗡️🛡️
Such a beautiful conversation. Thank you both.
Today sir I hope you love being you as much as the rest of us love you as you are. Your natural being is what makes you you. 🎉❤😊. And today your the most beautiful soul!

WOW what a wonderful conversation between two wonderful human beings. Thank you!
Wow! What a fantastic idea, interviewing older people who have risen to the top in our hearts and minds. Brilliant! Thank you!❤

Well deserved being knighted.
I would love to hear a audio book of captain picards ship log with Patrick's voice that would be so cool....loves this man ❤
Can we call it a "free class about life"? We are grateful for your work Rich, you rock!
Quite wonderful to hear this interview.
Absolutely delightful , and elegant conversation. This podcast is a genuine and authentic gift. Thank you both for sharing this moment with the world.
I have finished Stewart's book and have enjoyed this interview too. Thank you!

This was a powerful interview. I could listen to Patrick all day, will be purchasing his audio book! Thank you Rich, well done!
Great interview! One thing you didn't touch on is just how funny Patrick can be. He has a great sense of humor.
Thanks for this interview. Patrick Stewart continues to be fascinating to me as a human being, even if I roll my eyes at the paranormal stuff (yeah, there’s a “confluence” going on… a confluence of people CHOOSING to believe in nonsense over reality, because it excites them in some way)…

Always his mind on how he could help
As in all things, the work is the prize

This was a lovely interview.
Gidday mate! That was beautiful! Thanks mate!
Thank you for this gift, it filled me up
Amazing. Loved this.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️thank you..i am trekieee too..i grew up on it
Sir Stewart, ever consider filming a version of “A Curious Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde”? I could see Kenneth Branagh as the director?
Wonderful guest. Please don't interrupt your guest when he's clearly trying to get a story across. It's about him, not you.
I wish you’d let him finish his sentences and not interrupt him! He was about to tell us what he saw in his friends house as a child and you cut him off- he never got the chance to finish the story. Happened multiple times throughout this interview and was v frustrating.
I thought this guy was rude overall
Domestic violence is NOT a matter of not having control. There are great books and research about this question.
Just wonderful.
wonderful
i wish i knew a Shakespearian quote to leave that would make myself sound theatrical and witty but i dont sir stewart youre awesome and unforgettable
For we, which now behold these present days, have eyes to wonder, but lack tongues to praise.
A GIFT to us ALL. Whoopie!
I was doing just fine with all of the stories until Patrick started to cry 😢
Beautiful conversation!
Wow what a fantastic intro. ❤
Excellent! Next level!!
He looks good with the beard.
great vid
