One of the very best performances I have seen ever. It's just phenomenal.
A brilliant performance 👏🏼👏🏼 Loved the interview 👍🏼 Only that picture of that baseball player was photoshopped 😉
Stunning performance! Great interview , congrats Josh.
Absolutely brilliant performance. You're hooked from start to finish and you want to watch it again and again. Every aspect of the movie is masterclass. I hope it gets all the nods. Simply a stunning piece of work.
If you watch the 1965 interview with the real Oppenheimer, you will notice the nuances Cillian was able to duplicate, such as the small lip-smacking habit or the buldging eyes expressions Oppenheimer had when he spoke.
Cillian's performance was masterful. He's truly one of the best actors of this generation.
Thanks for your continuous love and support ❤
Thanks for your continuous love and support ❤
I'd love to see Cillian win an Oscar for this performance because he was absolutely phenomenal in the film. Honestly one of the greats of our time 🙌
Just wanted to comment on this to bring you back to this moment 😊
Oppenheimer is a work of art, not a documentary, not a movie even. I saw it today, and I felt drained emotionally, a little lost and emotional, stunned at the artistry. I saw the Mona Lisa in the Louvre in 1999 and I felt similarly, it wasn’t the biggest piece work, but it was strangely deep. It’s the kind of movie that you want to discuss at a dinner party with 10 friends who all felt differently by watching it. Hard to describe.
I had pretty much the same feelings after the first viewing: very special, emotionally draining, overwhelmed to an extent even but... I highly suggest doing a second viewing because... Just no words. It's even BETTER.
You beautifully captured my response to the movie! Thank you!
Same. I want to go see it again. I saw it a week ago and I’m still processing
Cillian’s wife is a lucky woman
They have been together for a very long time. That, in my opinion, is success enough with or without awards for his craft.
@@jabbermocky4520 True. Very rare for actors to have stable families, but he did.
Unlike you his wife stayed with him through Hell and high water. That's why you are drooling over him. His wife supported him when be was nothing, she deserves who he is
Amen!
He seems to be a beautiful soul, and an incredibly talented individual
Give this man an Oscar
I have come from the future just to tell you that he will win one !
This aged well
Been very lucky to see Cillian on stage in Misterman and Ballyterk at the national theatre, he's an extraordinary actor. And Oppenheimer is a masterpiece.
so jealous!!! i want to see him on stage at some point, just to see how he acts on stage vs screen
@@sopheep I hope you get to see him on day. Misterman was a one man show and I've seen that it will be added the national theatre at home soon.
Saw him myself in 2004 in The Playboy of the Western World. You can't take your eyes off his performance.
@@PhilipBrady couldn't agree more.
Saw him in Grief is the Thing with Feathers a few years ago. It was unbelievable. Wish I could see it again.
Brilliant interview. It's the era of Cillian now. Good for him..I sincerely hope and pray he wins countless awards for this performance. He is also the portrait of humility.
Absolutely…such a discreet , humble guy.
Notice how engaged CM is in interviews when he talks about acting, and films.
What a lovely interview Josh. No crap, no gossip just two people talking about art of the movies.
👍👍 thanks!
Who doesn't like gossip? It makes interview fun
@@normn2915 It's meaningless bs that most people don't give a shit about.
He is so well spoken and has such a beautiful voice I could listen to him forever (and look at him too)
So great to see an in depth interview where Cillian is clearly engaged and enjoying talking about his work passionately. How do you do it Josh, fab stuff. You really can see the difference between actors who respect their craft and actors who just turn up for the cheque in your interviews! 👏
appreciate that!!
I’ve seen this same comment under almost every other Cillian Murphy Oppenheimer interview.
@@alexlazzerly3677 Glad Cillian seems happy in the Oppenheimer interviews!!
i disagree. he sounded annoyed when josh kept asing him question about christopher nolan.
But to achieve this level of interviewing, the actor must bounce off the interviewer, Cillian needs an intelligent interviewer who is interested in the craft, hence why here it’s a success and he engages
I can't stop watching him. 🥹
I could liaten to him speak and look into his beautiful blue eyes and then slowly take in all of his true beauty, this is a man who is manly and beautiful at the same time ❤
I have followed his career since Disco Pigs, and I was 12 years old! Now to be in my late 30s and seeing this all happening for him... as a fan of cinema and Murphy I couldnt be more thrilled! He is such a rare gem of an actor, and has the most magnificent cinematic face... Nolan has been right to make him his muse! Oppenheimer was extraordinary. Ive already seen it twice!!
Disco Pigs scared the living daylights outta me. Brilliant. Blown away by Oppenheimer. Can't wait to see Small Things Like These
He is someone mysterious
His role as "Thomas Shelby" is immortal 🔥🔥🔥
A very underrated actor. It's wonderful to see him coming into what will be a long career. He has already done wonderful work, but there is so much more to come.
I’ve seen just about all the films Cillian has been in.. and honestly.. regardless of the part, his acting has been superb. His soul is in it.. you can feel it
Extraordinary actor..
I’m very happy for cillian, he deserves the recognition and appreciation.
There's no way i could talk to him for 30 straight minutes without getting nervous & starting to ramble. He just stares right through you. He is beautiful.
The way Cillian has so much admiration and respect to Christopher is just amazing. Lucky Chris 😂
One of the best interviews I've seen. Intelligent questions, you did not bore Cillian. Thank you Josh.
glad you enjoyed!
I don't usually leave comments, but this was such a thoughtful, considered and engaging interview and a breath of fresh air compared to the rest of the inane conversations actors have been made to endure during press junkets. Please accept my highest praise. Kudos!
Peaky Blinders is one of those rare ones. Think Cillian Murphy is about to hit another level, a lot more people are about to discover his work . Can’t wait to see it!
I just saw Oppenheimer yesterday..speechless 🙌 the script, the cast, everything!
If people have only just started to see how brilliant Cillian Murphy is in this film watch Peaky blinders I promise you you won’t be disappointed
After having seen the movie last night… it’s insane how accurate it is and how much Cillian actually looks like Robert and how accurate the Los Alamos and bomb building scenes were!
I love listening to Cillian.
Cillian Murphy - Outstanding Irish actor❤❤❤
I agree best film I’ve seen him in where he was able to use his native cork accent and it’s just brilliant film is wind that shakes the barley , also breakfast on Pluto .
@@michelleflood5843Not forgetting "The wind that shakes the barley"?
@@EMMYK1916 for me that his natural side coming out because he’s a) allowed to use his natural accent as opposed to having to do another accent and seems to be like he would be away from the limelight
Love him, so talented, handsome, well spoken.
Can I just say... this is such an amazing interview. Thank you for your hard work. Cillian in this film was perfect. I'm so happy he finally got to be the leading man in a Nolan project. He is such a fantastic actor. He definitely deserved this opportunity and unsurprisingly, he nails it.
Thanks so much!
So every time I listen to interviews with Cilliam, I can't help but feel that he is a complete actor, full of passion, brilliant, especially in his last installment, the way he introduced us to the character of the great physicist is bordering on something incredibly perfect and here it is clearly visible that cinema is the most beautiful of arts, it can take us to areas previously unknown, deserted yesterday, today tamed and populated enough to be able to say Oppenheimer is Oscar.
What a great and respectful interviewer.
This was a delight to watch.
thank you!
Couldn't agree more 👏
Just saw the movie yesterday in IMAX and Cillian's acting just blew me away!!! I pretty much have a reclusive life in my studio and had not seen him before. And WOW! He was just so amazing I had to look him up🙂
i love cillian murphy sm, been my goat since s1 of peaky blinders, absolute legend
Have you seen "The wind that shakes the barley", I highly recommend it.
he’s so beautiful and talented
Cillian is such a soft spoken guy.
As Matt Damon said to Chris Nolan, "No notes"!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thanks Josh for this wonderful interview! Cillian is one of greats of this generation. I love his acting process. It's so nice to see him open up. Give him that Oscar man ✊
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@JoshHorowitz 😄💗
I never really watched josh, but he’s literally such a great interviewer cillian looks so engaged and looks like he gladly would answer ur questions
Thanks so much!
Yes, as someone who does interviews as part of my job. I feel like I always learn something new.@@JoshHorowitz
I would watch Cillian Murphy watching paint dry. This is fabulous.
thanks for your love and support
This is how you do an interview and ask questions and be involved. He (the host) listens. Awesome!!!
Thank you!!
He is sooooooooo DREAMY😭
Both Cillian and Josh are amazing respectful listeners. And Josh tailors questions for Cillian-the artist and the man. Loooove this a lot! ❤
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed!
@@JoshHorowitz I have just found your podcasts! What a treat! p.s. Cillian's beautiful voice has smth of Daniel Day Lewis in it at times ❤ Huge talent.
Love love him beautyful cillian ❤🥰
This is the first time I've heard anything about suggesting him as Doctor Doom but thinking about it, THOSE eyes behind THAT mask is something I definitely want to see.
Its fan cast, there is a romour he played as doom in in black panther 2
Can we appreciate Josh for vanishing Dissapointed Cillian face in a very good way?
❤️
Man it's nice to see a genuine interview that flows so well, beautifully done!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Am i the only one who would absolutely LOVE to see Cillian as a Bond villain in a Chris Nolan Bond film?
I don't want to see him in a Bond film either hero or villain - great things ahead for him.
The way words are coming out of his mouth so genuinely, the way he pauses or speeds up.. great articulation and confort to hear him.
Top human, top actor.
This is such a lovely interview. Interesting, relaxed, non intrusive questions, its nice to see Cillian in this interview.
After the nolan interview was waiting eagerly for this. Absolutely amazing.
How do you only have slightly less than 50k subscribers? Your interviews are always insightful and engaging. And these people would not sit with you for so long if you weren’t great at this. Keep it up!!
Thanks Peter! Spread the word! The channel hasn’t been around that long. 😀
There are marketing and SEO pieces he’s not taken advantage of. Also social media. The quotes on this great interview don’t have handles on Twitter. Also no means to share clips. Maybe his team doesn’t have experience. Don’t know. Always perplexes me😅
What a great and respectful interviewer. This was a delight to watch.. I’m very happy for cillian, he deserves the recognition and appreciation..
Terrific interview. Cillian in Oppenheimer is going to be considered his iconic role, like Peter O'Toole in Lawrence of Arabia. He's always been brilliant, but this role will define him for the rest of his career. The film is astoundingly good, although I think the exposition of the political chicanery could have been condensed a bit. But it’s clear why Nolan insisted on including all of it. I’ve been thinking about this film since I left the theatre 3 days ago.
@@iamCillianMurphylol you just did the thing that Cillian will be least likely to do.
Me too. Same reaction
@@AnnyReactsYTbut did you see the user name? He IS Cillian Murphy
@@El_IF_B_2 Everyone can make an username using Cillian Murphy nowadays. I can make one if I can. 🤦♀️
@@AnnyReactsYT obv, it was a joke
Fantastic humble , grounded and very intelligent. He deserves the best actor in all the award giving bodies as well as best director for Chris Nolan. Their minds are so connected great cast perfect movie Oppenheimer worth all three hours
I loved this interview because it had substance, what an extraordinary actor he is! ❤ thanks for the interview! ❤
Brilliant Interview, love it! Cillian is such a talent
thanks!
We love you, Cillian!
Very much enjoy Josh's interviews and I generally can't bear the rest of them.
there's also Ali plumb from BBC One who's great at building rapport with actors
@@paulkyle oh absolutely. Sorry Ali and Josh are the main two.
What a treat! Thank you for sneaking in a few personal questions, you are brave! 😅😁👏👏
Glad you enjoyed!
Oppenheimer is the first movie I've seen in theatres since 2019 and the first movie I went to see twice since...ohhh maybe Titanic when I was like 14? Just an outstanding film, from the sound design to Cillian's performance, to the editing. Just incredible.
Thanks for your continuous love and support ❤
For how long have you been a fan of mine?
I respect his comment about his kids not idolizing him a lot. That’s a very different view than most parents have, and that’s so refreshing.
I've always loved Cillian. First movie of his I watched was Sunshine. Didn't know his name, but was immediately drawn in. Watched everything since. Hope he gets all the plaudits he deserves with how much Oppenheimer is blowing up.
Don't worry, Cillian, I've also still not seen Gone With The Wind! haha (I should probably correct that soon) Oppenheimer is PHENOMENAL! Watched it twice already and can't wait to watch it again.
Thanks for this great interview.
Great interview, Cillian seems like a chilled guy and you asked interesting questions. I liked how you put him on the spot in the last 15 mins, especially the Bond thing. And, in my opinion, he's not too old to play Bond. He'd completely nail it.
Cillian talking about Barry Keoghan and Jessie Buckley. Wow. Dream cast. ❤
Great interview, well done.
Thank you Josh for this great interview. Very knowledgeable and how you made Cillian express himself and talk.
I think Cillian was chosen to perform Oppenheimer because Cillian is as great fenomenal mystery and eccentric blue eyes men like the great physicist.
Loved getting to know a bit more about cillians taste in movies shows etc
Cillian, great actor,I love you
Oppenheimer was fantastic and I fully expect multiple Oscar noms for it. I'm betting Cillian and RDJ get noms for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor respectively.
I imagine there'll be additional Oscar noms for writing, directing, et al. How many wins will depend on the competition, of course.
You're the best at this, love the fun questions at the end!
Glad you like them!
Wow what an excellent interview
love the intimacy of the interview . Cilian has such a interesting face. gonna see the film soon
Thank you Josh for this fantastic interview. I just enjoyed it wholeheartedly. ❤ I saw Cillian in Dunkirk and now in Oppenheimer. He is amazing, and deserves the Oscar. Loads of love and good wishes from Kolkata, India. 💐🙏
I could listen to him all day.... his voice is really soothing❤
This is an awesome interview!
This is a really good interview, thank you for this Josh!
My pleasure!
@joshhorowitz I'm so glad you brought up that inception moment because it's one that I always think about. Like you know, they've succeeded once he hits an emotion essentially and Cillian portrays that perfectly.
Thank for this post!
I want to cry because I love him so much :/
Well done Josh! Another great episode❤❤❤ you just always make us love those actors even more lol
Love to hear it!
Great interview!
Great interview Josh!!
thanks!
I havent watched yet but i can say you are the best interviewer
Cillian must watch the final season of Succession asap. Fantastic interview!
Going for Oppenheimer tomorrow, just what I needed at the night before that!! The random q segment was too good, thanks for thd Interview!
i see cillian murphy i click
I've never commented on an ad before but whoa. Most of my subscriptions are essentially sponsorships but last year it was a minor shock to discover I was double paying for a decent sized one. Being on top of them via regular attention must be the way but the advertised product made me laugh out loud.
Cillian Murphy as Oppenheimer is monumental!! So as Tommy Shelby in Peaky Blinders. I guess everyone compares one with another and then He emerges like an amazing, incredible, huge actor. He speacks using only his eyes, the muscles of his face, the turns of his neck, the ups and downs of his head, the silences between his speechs... Thanks God I'll never meet him.
I hope he hasn't separated from Tommy, there should be a movie coming (Peaky Blinders).
I got to know a little better a man i have been so curious about . Thank you. Lovely interview
Glad you enjoyed it!
Please, Josh, don't interrupt. Your interviews are exciting, and I enjoy them immensely .... sometimes all we need is to embrace patience.
Great interview, as always! And Cill is EPIC in Oppie x It's gonna rain awards this year ;)
It's truly remarkable to hear Cillian Murphy discuss his role in Oppenheimer, especially considering his long-standing working relationship with Christopher Nolan. Five collaborations in, and yet, this is the first time he steps into the spotlight as Nolan's leading man. The episode radiates a sense of enthusiasm and depth that only comes from an actor-director pairing with shared history, trust, and artistic synergy.
Murphy has always brought a certain magnetism to his roles, whether it's the Scarecrow in Nolan's Batman trilogy or his standout performances in films like Inception and Dunkirk. But Oppenheimer feels like a whole new level of synergy between him and Nolan. You can sense that Murphy has fully grasped the gravitas of his role, diving deep into the complexities of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the father of the atomic bomb. It's a character fraught with moral, ethical, and emotional dilemmas, and who better to tackle this than an actor of Murphy's caliber under Nolan's visionary direction?
Josh Horowitz does an excellent job in the #happysadconfused podcast to explore not just the film but the nuances of Murphy’s performance. The conversation gives listeners a chance to appreciate how Murphy approached this incredibly challenging role and how Nolan's direction shaped it. It's also intriguing to hear Murphy's reflections on his evolution from a supporting player in Nolan's cinematic universe to a leading man in one of the director's most ambitious projects to date.
It's rare to get such an insightful peek into the dynamics of an actor-director relationship that has been nurtured over multiple collaborations. This episode is a must-listen for anyone interested in the intricacies of filmmaking, acting, and the extraordinary outcomes that can arise from long-term creative partnerships. #Oppenheimer is not just a movie; it's an event, and Cillian Murphy's role in it appears to be a defining moment in a career already filled with noteworthy performances.
Absolutely love this actor.
thank you, josh
just thank you
you are welcome. :)
Absolutely Amazing Interview!
Thank you!
@JoshHorowitz Your welcome of course! Loved the down to earth, beautifully but professionally done interview.
