Everything vents through one central location trans,transfer,diffs,air box, fuel tank, mechanical fuel pump.If you look right behind the radiator surge tank you will see a metal filter that looks like an inline fuel filter that's the vent for all of it.
Not all heroes wear capes.

Nah alligators would swim away as fast as they could the second they felt all the disturbance in the water from the humvee ripping through it.
Started to make the same comment before I read yours. They would probably swim away unless you scared them and they swam the wrong direction. Deer do it on the highway. They sometimes run into the side of slow moving cars. Dont tell me a smaller brained alligator is always going the right direction when startled.

Few years back I crossed a river in my 1998 H1 wagon. Had water up to the middle of the windshield. Only one leak the petcock valve in the passenger side front foot area wasn’t tight so I had about 3 inches of water in the passenger foot area. That’s it crossed both ways no problem.

Honestly that is one of the nicest humvees I've seen in civilian hands that isn't over the top modified. Just a basically bone stock setup for a road legal, insurable bad ass off road unit. Can't wait to see the crossings ole'Cleets going to do with this thing. Who knows with the right weights, scuba gear, lights and tires we could see some water passages from a whole new perspective. Long as she can pull air for intake she's just going to chug right along, the bottom...
This years "Month of Freedom" is awesome and like all things Garret and the crew do it gets better and better. No stagnation just learning and progress and yes. "FREEDOM" !!!

Cleetus already was at the hoonigan place doing that drag race challenge, plus they're on opposite sides of the map so logistics isn't very likely . Cleetus just so happened to be in Cali at the time
Cleeet...there should be a switch lower right hand of the dash to disengage the fan clutch. This prevents breaking the fan blades and reduce the engine bogging from the resistance of it spinning in the water. When you are out you roll the switch back over.
I bought a Humvee years ago and had pretty much the same experience. You just come back from that first trip thinking, you just can't destroy this thing and it will almost go through, or over anything you can find. You guys have fun, it's money well spent....
This humvee is badass. You guys have to do more with it, don’t let it be forgotten in a parking lot or a garage.

That thing rips for an old stock HMMWV. The best/cheapest mod would probably be a new set of mud tires for traction, and an exhaust stack so it doesn't bog down when you give it throttle underwater. Keep up the Great work and God bless!

Cleeter got a jet boat to go through water 1 ft deep or less, and a hummer to go through water over a few feet deep. Next level. Hell yeah brother.
Hey Cleet, pardon this comment if you have already researched it, but look up how to activate the torsion bias diffs in the Humvee. But essentially, you need to ride the brake a little when you have a tire spinning. You'll be able to get all 4 tires crawling along, rather than any 1 or 2 digging.
We all need our own pair of "Hellyea brother" crocs... make it happen cleetus.
Go buy a sharpie and do it yourself.

“It’s way better in reverse dude!” Those humvee tires are directional my neighbor had a set on his f150 he got them on the base and he said if you run em backwards they do way better in mud
If they're serious about driving across the bottom of a pond they should throw on a set of paddle tires.
Right they are sorta designed to be able to always back out of what ever you are stuck in.
I think partly it's also because its got so much weight on the nose when they try and go forward they aren't pushing straight forward they're pushing down and forward and the back tires aren't getting as much grip as they could.

Drove a hemmit the whole time. Never wore the helmet. But did mount/velcro a chair cushion to the roof. And had a boombox made out of an ice chest for the tunes.
Yeah when it hit 137 degrees and your dual acs couldn't keep up and you're a 2 truck team on ray patrol, driving 1152s, chasing HVTs up and down rt Heather or some some other IED/EFP magnet...it becomes a game of temptation. Should tempt fate? Take off everything accept my vest and lest my dangles swing in the breeze or suffer and sweat my ballz off?
Then you see you danglies start to stick to the inside of your shorts and you scream in pain trying to free them.......

There's more to Deep Water Fording than just the intake extension and extended exhaust pipe. When you try to "swim" the truck without a proper DWF kit installation, you're going to get water in your portal hubs, transmission, engine and differential, all of which get breather tubes which end up routed up the side of the intake extension.

Another tip for Cleetus. Be careful blasting into the water. You can break the cooling fan pretty easy. It happened to me while on a training mission in Germany.
Hell Cleetus, Humvee should hire you to promote their vehicles. What you did with your Humvee was impressive. Hands down.
They aren't made anymore and all of the updated units are actually the same as the one he has just with armor plates.
Look up the JLTV, it is replacing the HMMWV And it is an absolute UNIT

I got a 1988 M998 military surplus Humvee from GovPlanet. I won the auction for 8100 bucks. It's 100% complete and in perfect condition. 6.5L V8 diesel (no turbo). 3 speed.
I've had it for about 6 years, insured, tagged, registered, titled, and street legal. It's an awesome offroad vehicle.
I was in the Marines for 5 years.
Humvees were designed as utility vehicles, they were never meant to be a combat vehicle. You can thank politicians and poor leadership for those decisions.
As an offroad or utility vehicle the Humvee is fantastic!
Better than any Jeep or lifted truck that I've had experience with.
Edit: You can download all the Humvee operators, maintenance, and parts manuals for free online. Just Google them. Read them. They're lifesavers.
You can order just about anything for them off Ebay.
The best part about a Florida man is their lack of concern for alligators lol.

They aren't that bad. I used to scuba dive for golf balls behind the house in South Carolina, there were always a few of them in the lagoon. They just floated around, I just left them alone. SC DNR quit relocating them unless a bunch of people start losing pets or they start coming after small children.

Get the high rise exhaust that is available. It does not bleed energy underwater. You also take the top off sit on the back of seat, drive with your feet, and set throttle lock.
If you get a set of the 1st generation humvee tires and put the run flats on that thing, you can air the tires down to almost flat and they act like tank tracks. Almost impossible to get stuck

If you get seats out of a dodge minivan they fit in the hummer nice and it’s a lot more comfortable. You can also put a 3rd row seat out of a Tahoe in the way back for extra seating

Mad props for Maddie for motoring out with you on the Razer and getting some sweet bog deep footage.
As a combat driver of this vehicle here's a big tip. Tihten up the accelerator cable and it'll act like a whole new truck. Plus give you an overdrive kick on the bottom 1/4 of the pedal!!
Also the #3 lifter is pretty much shot, and most drive train seals (but ya know that). It's actually made to 'swim' with the mud tires and good greased seals throughout.

I had a 1970 F250 that I could put in 4low and granny 1st, get out and walk next to the truck, very fun 4x4!!!
If you do anything with mud the factory hummer tires are worthless but if you get stuck try tapping the brake it’ll sometimes engage the worm gear in the locker and make it lock up

This may be my favorite vehicle in your fleet. I have a special place in my heart for that big girl after seeing the Marine markings on the hood.
I dated a girl who’s father was on the “Test Team” of these OG Hummers. They had 6 to start with and only 2 were left running. He talked about how they would chase motocross riders on track and other shenanigans. My favorite was him talking about how they would chase squirrels up trees with the hummers. Straight up and set it on it’s rear bumper if the tree was too big. Haha!!

There's a transmission Cooler line on the passenger side you can unhook and drain into a bucket with motor running drain oil in bucket with motor running and fill with new fluid in dipstick tube. Till oil looks good

Not the same engine. Pretty sure the non turbo is the 6.2

Depends on the year, you could get a 6.5 without a turbo. Depends on the application. Did he say what year it was? And the 6.2 is basically the same engine as a 6.5. The heads and fuel delivery were the only real differences
Hummers use the turbo setup from the van. It's tucked up under the rear of the intake. Pick up unit won't fit
If the transmission vent is pulling in water, your differential vents are more than likely at the same level as the transmission vent. Make sure to extend them as well

I'm liking the military vehicles. When you're ready to go DEEP check out an M984(wrecker) or an M978. These are 6x6 and will go through anything. You'll need tracks to go through more than these and the other HEMTT variants will go through.
