All ignition wiring and starter wiring needs to be silicon sprayed
exhaust up over rear roof
pull the fan belt off
battery up on roof
De-electro grease is good for keeping electrical dry and working
Cleetus ,follow these steps and you will be set
Why does the battery need to be on the roof? I assume it's a sealed gel cell
get a diesel instead.
petrol is a waste of time.
I agree with everything but the battery (only if it’s a fully sealed battery)

I'm sure nobody had to look that up.
Yeah I hate retarded units but still funny
Hristo Dimitrov retarded units? What is in between a meter and a cm? A friggin foot, but continue to measure everything in cm that’s cool.
You mean the "easier to calculate" 3.2808398950131ft that equal 1m? Or the 10dm that equal 1m or the 100cm that equal 1m? Yeah I think I'm gonna continue measuring everything in standart units that scale easily.

Exhaust snorkel, use petroleum jelly to cover electrical connections, and fix the gas tank. I think u will make it.
Great idea! You could use flexible hose with a floatation device to keep it above water.
Not sure what engine it has in it but if its got a distributor i would put a thin silcone beed around the bottum im willing to bet it stalled out when the cap filled with water and no spark could be transferred from the rotor to the points and like james said pulled a vacuum and sucked the water in
What he says, dude.
6door 6four there is a vent in most distributor caps that has to be sealed up for this kind of attempt
Coil pack also had to be moved into a sealed container

He needed to have the exhaust out of the water and the electric
@@diarrhea_fart And the electric
You know somebody does crazy shit when there name is Cleetus.
Hey Cletus u for got about the exhaust what u need to do is run the exhaust up in the air right next to ur intake I work on boats every day the heat from the exhaust Creates a vacuum in the water just pours and exhaust valves and fills up the cylinder and you probably should seal up the distributor if it is a distributor
oh? yea do ya... you made no sense. most boats eject exhaust below the water line.. you dip shit.
only thing you made any sense about was the ignition.. get bent
Zues Toots toxic much? What he is saying makes sense. Boat engines are above the water but the exhuast is under the water... in this situation the whole fuckin car is under water..
4x4's the do a lot of water crossings have a snorkel and then have extended breathers for the two diffs, gearbox and transfer case. The exhaust is always pushing air out if the car is on so it doesn't need an extension
You do actually need a exhaust pipe for this. Dirt everyday by motor trend did this with a Jeep and they need and exhaust pipe for when they went across a pond.
@@zuestoots5176 Yes but they have check valves in the exhaust. I've seen what happens when wet exhausts fail and it's not good. You get bent dip shit

The most entertaining part of the video folks" 5:03 When James simply reaches his hands to the same height CLeetus jumped on his back for, I died.
Ippo angana irikkn 😂😂
James is 100% correct, because you were going pretty slow you would have water going up through the exhaust. We do river crossings all the time in Aus and you have keep your revs up.... That or your electronics fried and then water got sucked up from the vacuum
also tie off your cooling fan (or disconnect the fan belt if its a viscous coupling) so it can't spin. It's petrol too so you definitely need to spray the electronics with WD-40 or something.
Daniel Ellerton was thinking the same thing, I have a Toyota 4Runner expedition build and rule of thumb, 4 low -keep the revs constant! Don't ever let off ,I've got about 6" from the safari snorkel I intake and as long as I kept on the throttle no issues with exhaust vacuumed,..just burbles all the way through lol
Saved me having to make this suggestion
Another aussie thinking the lack of revs definitely was the problem
Cleetus and Co. need to do some 4wd up at Cape York, they'll soon learn the real definition of Boggin :P

nahh, this thing has the best electrical system this planet has ever seen. no way it shorted
@@JanTomvdH still dosent explain the hydrolock, h2o somehow got into cylinder
Pretty sure James is exactly right. Starved of fuel from the approach angle, then water entered through exhaust.
StrykerV8 was about to write that lmao
@@J2thebar it does explain the hydrolock, the engine stalled because there was no more spark igniting the fuel and then water entered through the exhaust

Yessss agreed.
Haven't even started watching yet. Title: "Mistakes were made."
You don't say.
1. You need a diesel in water this deep so you're not relying on an ignition system to run the engine.
2. Also raise the exhaust above water level or the pressure build up will stall the engine.
We all know that the tracker is gonna get fully built for underwater shenanigans right?
I really hope so
Lmao
Hell yeah
I hope lol
I hope so too! A little variety will never hurt anything
75 more Do-It-For-Dale points to James for realizing the possibility of exhaust hydro-lock!
Is that when it is deep enough that the exhaust can't make enough back pressure to keep water out?
@@JS-tb9hu yep you got it.
I've seen them take side by sides over 10 to 20 feet deep with nothing but air snorkel and scuba gear lol but no exhaust extension and I've also had my exhaust on atv under water more than once as long as keeps running normally no issue.
@@ninablatchley842 the issue is that if you let out the throttle the exhaust will flood
Cesare Vissani yep this ^^^
Today Cleetus learned that when you drive through deep puddles (or ponds) you use a low gear to keep the revs up so water doesn't fill the exhaust and hydro-lock the engine. Or as James said after, fit an exhaust snorkel.
I love all the technical and racing you do, but this & the last video also highlight some of the great fun you guys have. Arsing around in cars and enjoying life. Keep the freedoms flowing brotha.
A fan from across the (very large) pond!
Why not snorkel the exhaust and waterproof the electrical system?
yep 100% need to snorkle the exhaust, and you can remote vent the diffs too

I knew this was going to fail immediately there was no Mountain Dew anywhere in sight
Cletus needs to silicone all the connections of the electrical system like a swamp buggy like ignition system alternator battery and snorkel for the exhaust
It was thoroughly entertaining watching you guys attempt this with such little preparation.
There is no module or electrical connection inside the vehicle which will function/survive in that murky water. Even weather-pak connectors will have water ingress at a certain pressure. You must apply dielectric grease to every connector that is needed to run the engine and/or spray with something like FluidFilm. Also, distributor cap, spark plug wells, and coil boot can fill up with water. Some distributors or caps have a vent that will need to be routed to a sealed port in the snorkel. Install an exhaust stack right up through the hood. Disconnect and plug vacuum hose to the brake booster (quick fix). Make certain the intake gasket doesn't leak, and the crankcase breather is sealed to the breather hose or snorkel too.
