    Wife and I have both. I bought a 2020 Explorer Limited in black and she got 2020 Palisade in gray. I really like my Explorer as well as her Palisade but she does not like the new Explorer although she traded a 2017 Explorer Limited black for the Palisade. I must admit the Palisade is a lot more vehicle for the money.

    I love my 2020 Explorer. I got the Platinum with all the bells and whistles (including the large display). My last car was a 2018 Traverse which CRAPPED OUT on me last year while on a long road trip! (I almost died). So far I have 6000km about (3200+ miles) And it’s been a dream! I primarily bought the Explorer for “exploring” and going to and from work. Me, being single I can go wherever I want without having to take anyone with me. I’ve driven to Chicago from where I live in Winnipeg which is an 8hr drive. It was very comfortable, and relaxing the whole drive. I only stopped to get fuel and some burgers from Burger King. And then I continue. I take my co-workers to and from work as well for the past few months, and they love my car! And when I go to Ikea, I don’t have to really worry about having a lack of room to fit furniture inside. Overall, I absolutely love my new Explorer! I paid 67k canadian dollars, probably around 60k in the US. And I don’t mind the price, cause it comes with massaging seats, and it parks by itself, it also has speed sign recognition and has 365 HP while still doing great on gas! Can you find that on the Palisade? 🤔

    Ford is discounting Explorer ST's by $8k. You can get a loaded ST with Street pack and technology pack and moonroof for $52k. That is the most fun to drive SUV out there for the price and I have a blast with that engine. Palisade is great if you want a nice SUV that is like all others to drive. If you want to have some fun, can't beat the ST unless you get into a BMW X5 for way more money, premium gas and expensive service. The ST is not for everyone, just those that need the space AND want to have some fun. Telurides come in at the same price as the loaded ST when you consider dealer markups and lack of negotiation.

    As a mechanic, I would probably pick the Hyundai. I've seen a lot of reoccurring issues in the previous generation of Explorer. Jury is still out on the new redesign but turbocharged engines, in general, have more things to go wrong as they age. Ford should have offered a naturally aspirated v6 as an option.

    I’ve always thought 0f myself as a Ford person. Purchased many Fords in my years of driving. I am now giving careful consideration to Hyundai and KIA. The American made cars are way too expensive for my pocketbook so I’ve been leasing my vehicles. I’m looking right now for a vehicle to replace my old one with the lease being up in a few months. When you go into these showrooms and start talking leasing you get a monthly payment but never really know what the final price of the car is and I’ve found on several occasions in the past month or two that they will take advantage of you if you’re not prepared about prices and what you have to pay for a lease. I could write a lot more about what these guys do but what I’m trying to say is I’ve decided that leasing is not the same as it was years ago. They hide to many “fees” in their price so I’m looking to purchase and that brings into the dealership of the KIA or Palisade. My next vehicle will be a purchase and not a lease. Hard for them to take advantage when the only real figure is the final cost.

      Milly Monterrey .......Understand completely, but what I found in going to Hyundai dealers is that the Palisade is a hot seller and leasing them may cost the same as an explorer. I planned on purchasing a certified Lincoln Continental but when my lease was about up the used car prices have gone up too. Ended up leasing a new Jeep Cherokee, the numbers worked out better for me. The Palisade is a great vehicle, interior design is better than any SUV I’ve looked at. The KIA Telluride is a sister vehicle and may be well worth a look at for you. Whatever you do I want to wish you luck in your next vehicle, but with the Palisade or Telluride you will be paying close to sticker. They’re selling them as fast as they get them. It may be cheaper to lease a new Explorer than the Palisade, Ford is offering great incentives now. Have a great day.

    MY thoughts are that you skewed every bit of your commentary. It was clear from the start you were rooting forth Hyundai. While I am not a fan of the new infotainment system or, oddly enough, the fog lights on the 2020, I am exceedingly happy with my 2018 Explorer Limited. I have nearly 20K miles on it and it is jsut as smooth, quient and a dream to drive as it was the day I drove it off the lot. I get it, not every vehicle is for everyone. Out of curiosity, how many people in 2020 are looking for a vehicle to fit a family of 8? I have had my explorer packed with adults, and everyone was comfortable (enough). Yes, the back seats do not offer as much room as an adult would most comfortably want. On the other hand, how can you state the Palisade has better reaer seat leg room while acknowledging it is smaller in every measurement. In addition, you are trying to cram 3 people into that sardine of a back seat. Also, I don't know how it is for the Palisade, but the explorer seat also folds up against the front seat, allowing easy access to the rear seats. Either you couldn't find that for some reason, or you neglected to show it.
    Look,. if you like the Hyundai, great, enjoy. If you want to pass yourself off as someone who is presenting a fair side by side comparison without your personal bias in it, then you should definitely do that. You did not do so in this video at least. You did not earn a sub here.

    I still largely view Hyundai/Kia as an emerging force, demonstrating consistant improvement in their products and a genuine investment in customer satisfaction. Ford on the other hand not so much. They need to pull their head out of the F150 and better address things across the board if they want to still be around in 30 years. Their handling of the largely denied PowerShift issues alienated a lot of their younger customers...people who will be buying vehicles throught their lives. It's going to take genuinely compelling products and real incentives to have any hope of retaining many of those buyers. Thus far I am not seeing that happening.

      @Jake Powers But I'm already reading consumer reviews where they've had to replace those turbos inside their factory warranty. When I look at a big suv, one of the values related to the high cost is you expect that thing to drive well past 100,000 miles. If these explorers were coming in cheap, then you could rationalize it off by calling it a big Ford Escape, but when I do a search, the base models start at $37K and most are in the $40s. I'm in a 6 cylinder highlander now and I paid $32K. I wanted the new explorer to be an option for me, but a 4 cylinder at $40K+ makes no sense.

    Well my wife bought a brand new Palisade just 2 months ago, and we absolutely love it. Sure there are about 3 rattle locations in the car and A pillar trim is a bit loose but that’s normal I think, I’ll just get it fixed and probably the faulty blind spot sensor that stays on even when there’s no car. I forgot to mention the wind noise on the driver door is driving us crazy. But that’s all part of owning a new car. I’m overall pleased with our Palisade! But it has been a bit problematic for us though...

    Explorer's new full redesign.... still feels like older model design... Palisade has a more luxury like design. Interior wise, I would say up to each preference, price wise, palisade, warranty wise palisade, cool looking wise explorer, family oriented palisade. hmm... overall palisade for me.

      Prob since it's Hyundai's first venture into the SUV market and did not expect it to practically sell out. They need to increase production to meet demand. The Explorer is an established player, I would expect it to to lead in sales, wouldn't you?

      Pick up a dead cat by the tail, swing it almost any place in the U.S. and Canada...odds are you'll hit a Ford dealership. (I have about eight of them in my metro area but only one Hyundai dealer. They should be leading, but by Motor Trend's thorough analysis, they're trailing by a bunch.

    • @kirkkempen6205
      @kirkkempen6205 4 роки тому +3

      We'll see in time, but the new Explorer already needs huge discounts to move off the lot, while the Telluride and Palisade are selling for MSRP to $5-10k over. The Ford is obviously grossly overpriced! The market knows where the real value is, and it's definitely NOT with Ford!

  • @kirkm3354
    @kirkm3354 4 роки тому

    I would take the Explorer over the uglysade but would take the VW Atlas over both based on looks and interior space. I don't care much for interior quality on these utilitarian vehicles made for families. If interior quality is your thing go for a luxury brand. And no the palisade is just as cheap inside as all the other competitors, there's just some crazy shilling for anything east Asian on the internet. Someone at hyundai is paying these people big money. Sure the koreans have improved from being the worst or the worst all these years but that doesn't mean they are the best. They are average and long term durability is still garbage.
