I just upgraded to an M1 max from an M1 air. The deal that I got I couldn’t pass it up massive difference being able to run everything at once. 8 GB is still just not enough ram I have 3090 desktop and another gaming laptop, but still always prefer Mac for programming and school.
@@AndyTriesCoding that’s fair but with the scope of the project and building right now (using Ruby on rails) I tend to have a lot of other things in the background and 8 GB just made everything lag too much. Plus I’ve been getting into ML and local LLM’s and just got tired of switching back-and-forth between the windows machine and the Mac.
I have been using m1 air 16-256 for about half a year now... and this thing is amazing. Adobe softwares run smoothly... and I have never run out of ram. Though for photoshop I run out of scratch disk once... but I have an external ssd for that ...
i use a thinkpad running macos cuz i love macos and i am a cheap ah guy who wont pay more then 150 bucks like my t480s is worth 3x less then the 2018 macbook air and got a higher processor a better fan and a GLORIOUS KEYBOED and also it got a touch screen and i can upgrade the ram to 40 gig and 8tb ssd

I think I will also upgrade to the Pro model at some point in the future, it's just that the complexity of my current projects haven't pushed me to.

@@Mbabbb399 In that case you could go for the Pro model, that won't lag at all in any circumstance pretty much.

Yes, exactly, these are some overpowered machines. I highly recommend them to anyone who asks me about laptops.

I also got my hands on a Thinkpad and I really like them as well. Key is to find something you enjoy so great job!
@@AndyTriesCoding well I enjoy it cuz of how great the keyboard is and how I can run all operating system without any problems
do you need a special type c cable with thunderbolt features for external SSDs?
Not really, if you buy an external SSD it will already come with a very good and fast usb-c cable.
Battery percentage? Mine is m2 MacBook air🎉❤
I currently got 86% and it lasts me an entire day easily.
